Legendary Aspects

Legendary Aspects are the special element on a Legendary Item, (in orange text). These Aspects can be extracted from the item and then imprinted onto either another Legendary Item replacing its Aspect or onto a Rare item changing it into a Legendary Item.

Some Aspects can also be target-farmed by completing specific dungeons that will reward you with an Aspect.

All Aspects rewarded or extracted are permanently stored in your Codex of Power however on Seasonal realms this resets at the beginning of each new Season.


Extraction and Imprinting

Aspects can be extracted from legendary items at the Blacksmith by salvaging them. This will destroy the item but leave you with some crafting materials and the Aspect will be automatically placed in your Codex of Power.

When you wish to imprint an Aspect onto another Legendary or Rare item visit the Occultist where you will select the target item, the desired Aspect from the Codex menu and they will charge you a fee in gold and use some Crafting Materials to imprint that Aspect. You can replace the Aspect on a legendary item as many times as you want.

If you have an aspect equipped and you upgrade the aspect by salvaging a legendary item the equipped aspect will not automatically upgrade. You will need to imprint that same, upgraded aspect onto the equipped item.

Upgrading Aspects

To upgrade an Aspect simply salvage another Legendary Item with the same Aspect but with greater stats. The Aspect in your Codex will be replaced with the better version. If an Aspect on a Legendary Item can upgrade an existing Aspect in your Codex there will be a crossed-sword icon displayed (image right).


Types of Aspects

While every Aspect can be extracted at the Blacksmith not all Aspects can be imprinted on all item types.

In the tables below where you see all the Aspects listed, you'll see white text (i.e. Gloves, Offhand, 1H Weapon, 2H Weapon (+100%), Ring, Amulet (+50%)). This indicates which type of gear the Aspect can be imprinted onto.

This limitation means you need to give a little more thought to where you are putting Aspects because, in particular, Amulets and 2-handed Weapons boost the stats by 50% and 100% respectively.

Key Aspect Facts

  • Legendary Aspects do not stack so if you imprint the same aspect onto two equipped items the one with superior stats will apply and the other ignored.
  • Aspects in your Codex of Power can be imprinted multiple times. It works in the same way a learned recipe would work. Available forever.
  • The Legendary item you extract an Aspect from will be destroyed in the process.
  • Aspects can not be imprinted onto Unique Items.
  • Your Codex of Power is account wide. One for Eternal Realm and one for the current Seasonal characters with the Seasonal Codex resetting with each new season.
  • Legendary Aspects will not be boosted by Masterworking.


Legendary Aspects - From Extraction and Dungeons

The following are tables listing all the Aspects available in Diablo 4. As stated before ALL aspects can be extracted from Legendary Items, however, some can be target-farmed from dungeons too but these will bear the lowest stats. Still, they are good to get your new character going.
