Evade

From Diablo 4 Wiki

Evade allows all classes to swiftly move and evade an attack with the push of a button. This function is available right from level 1 of a character. It is not to be confused with Dodge which is a passive ability of all classes that is more subtle but can also be boosted.

The Evade function is indicated by a small foot icon next to the resource globe. In the example below it is bound to the spacebar key. You can bind it to any key you wish.

Evade

Evade has a cooldown of 5 seconds but this can be reduced with skills and items and in some cases increased in return for other benefits.

Evade and Obstacles

Evade does not allow players to pass through objects or obstacles they encounter. It is specifically a dodge mechanic.

Evade also does not break Crowd Control (CC).

Evade is a new mechanic for the Diablo series on PC but was available on the console version of Diablo 3.

Gear that helps Evade

Rare, Legendary and Unique boots are the only piece of gear that comes with benefits to Evade. They can be found with the following Affixes:

  • +3 Max Evade Charges
  • Attacks reduce Evade's Cooldown by 0.8 seconds
  • Evade Grants +50% Movement Speed for 1 second

Regular Cooldown stats such as "10% Cooldown Reduction" do not apply to Evade.

Description: When activating or refreshing the full Walking Arsenal Key Passive effect, you automatically cast Ground Stomp and gain [50 - 100] Fury. Can only occur once every 10 seconds.

  • Evade Grants +10% Attack Speed for 3 Seconds

Description: Each enemy you Evade through reduces your active Ultimate Cooldown by [2.0 - 4.0] seconds, up to 10 seconds.

  • Attacks Reduce Evade's Cooldown by 2.5 Seconds
  • Evade Grants +30% Movement Speed for 1.5 Seconds

Rakanoth's Wake

Description: When you cast a Skill with a Cooldown, you explode, dealing [150 - 450] Fire damage.

Wildheart Hunger

Do not seek comfort in the shapes of the moon, beastwalker. Its pallid light awakens a yawning hunger. Call the beast, but do not tarry. Lest you never return to your own skin.

Class: Druid

Description: When you Shapeshift into a Werewolf or a Werebear, you gain Wildheart for 5 seconds. Wildheart grants you [1.0 - 3.0]%[x] stacking damage every 0.0 seconds, up to [20.0 - 60.0]%[x].

  • Attacks Reduce Evade's Cooldown by 1.5 Seconds

Yen's Blessing

These greaves are imbued with the divine blessing of Yen, the Veradani goddess of restoration. They bestow the wearer a revitalizing strength that enhances their own.


Type: Unique Boots
Class: All Classes

Description: Casting a Skill has a [40 - 60]% chance to cast a Non-Mobility, Non-Ultimate Skill that is currently on Cooldown. Can only occur once every 8 seconds.

  • +[12.5 - 18.0]% Movement Speed
  • +[28 - 42] All Stats
  • [8.5 - 12.0]% Resource Generation
  • +[26.0 - 35.0]% Resistance to All Elements


Legendary Aspects

There are a couple of Legendary Aspects that affect Evade that all classes have access to and the Rogue has a couple specific to her class.


Aspect of Frosty Strides
Utility While below 45 - 60% Life, Evade Freezes (CC) Close enemies, deals 450 Cold damage to them, and makes them Vulnerable for 3 seconds.

Aspect of Metamorphosis
Mobility When you Evade you turn into a cloud of bats, becoming Unstoppable for 2.5 seconds. Enemies along your path take 300 Physical damage and are inflicted with Vampiric Curse. Evade's Cooldown is increased by 10 - 4 seconds.

Juggernaut's Aspect
Defensive You gain 191 - 546 Armor, but your Evade has 100% increased Cooldown.

Aspect of Surprise
Offensive When you Evade or Shadow Step, you drop a cluster of exploding Stun Grenades that deal 90 - 270] total Physical damage and Stun (CC) enemies for 1 second.

Your Stun Grenades deal 25 - 45% increased damage.

Snap Frozen Aspect

Changes to Evade

Patch 1.4.0, May 14, 2024

  • The Attacks Reduce Evade’s Cooldown affix has been increased from .8 to 1.5 seconds.
  • The Evade Grants Movement speed affix has been increased from 50% to 125%.
  • The Maximum Evade Charges affix has been increased from 2 to 3.
  • The Acrobatics Elixir which reduced the Cooldown of Evade for 30 minutes is removed.

Patch 1.2.0, October 17, 2023

  • The Evade Grants Movement Speed (inherent on Boots) affix duration now increases with Item Upgrades.
