Diablo 2 Resurrected now has more players than Diablo 3 according to Blizzard’s player numbers tracking.
The die-hard Diablo 2 community never really took to Diablo 3, they stuck with the original Diablo 2 even before D2R appeared. Even today, there are plenty of Diablo 2 players that have not made the move to the Diablo 2 remaster. The Diablo 3 community on the other hand has jumped ship and made the move to Diablo 4.
Rod Fergusson tells Gamefile, Diablo 2 Resurrected is enjoying a healthy playerbase and there are now more people playing D2R than Diablo 3. Rod puts this down to Diablo 3 players moving over to Diablo 4 with players enticed by the Seasons. Seasons always proved popular in Diablo 3 and kept players coming back for more.
When D2R launched, it started with a bang with new additions during the first few ladder Seasons, but then it all stopped, which was a real shame. With Diablo 3 not getting any more development love, and more players playing D2R, it would be great to see a few occasional additions to the remaster.
We live in hope that perhaps one day they will throw the D2R players a bone and we see some new content.
