Diablo 4 release date rumors are rife this weekend. There’s a new rumor circulating that Diablo 4 has now got a release date and the previous Game Awards rumor is also happening.
When is the Diablo 4 release date then?
The story is that the game has been given a rough ship date of April 2023 and a new trailer will be shown at the Game Awards in December along with the previously rumored pre-orders. This will include a super fancy boxed edition of the game for pre-order.
Blizzard has stated that an open Beta will not be until next year as revealed this week, but this latest rumor states there will be an Early Access beta around February time and also an open beta. We’ll assume an early access beta will be for those that have pre-ordered in December.
Of course, this is just the latest rumor to circulate but the Game Awards will be the one to watch to see if this is all correct. The Game Awards will air on Thursday 8 December so mark the diaries now.
April, May, or June at the latest was our estimated release date based on the time needed to beta test a game with a live service. That said, based on what we know about the current closed beta test, there is still a lot of work to be done.
After listening to Jay Wilson in this week’s Podcast/Vidcast interview where he talks about the beta testing process, we really hope they take the time to get issues ironed out and reasonable suggestions from players can get worked into the final release. Rushing the game out just to hit a set release date would be madness and ultimately detrimental to the Diablo brand. That said, according to Jay, once a date is set, it’s almost impossible to shift at Blizzard.
Anyway, these are considered rumors for the time being so keep that in mind and don’t get too excited.

Make of that what you will. He could be cunningly trying to throw everyone off the scent 🙂
