Diablo 4 is in a strange place at the moment. There’s been a lot of doomsayers saying the game is done but any sensible person who has followed the franchise for long enough knows it takes time to get the game to a sweet spot.
Despite the negativity from a small band of the community, we are now at the stage where the team is hinting at major changes to core elements such as itemisation. Itemisation has been a hot topic from day one, it’s always a hot topic in any Diablo game. Diablo 3 went through some massive changes before getting to a place where players were satisfied with the direction. Diablo 4 is no different.
So what are we expecting this week? What do you think Blizzard should be focusing on for Season 4? Here’s what we do know. This update will focus on itemisation changes. They have also previously mentioned changes to systems like the Codex of Power. We also know the PTR is now a service that should reduce issues when Season 4 does finally launch.
We often read about the lack of endgame from the community, but when push comes to shove, often the players themselves can’t explain what they think is missing from the endgame or what they want to see added or changed. This makes it difficult to cater to players who consume content at a faster than normal rate.
With every season we are starting to see the game move to a better place and that’s down to the feedback from the community. With every Season there’s a lot of work needed to be done to not only introduce the new Seasonal content but also move the game forward to that sweet spot for players on the Eternal realm. We’re getting there and Season 4 should be a move in the right direction with changes to itemisation.
