Diablo 4 players are finally getting a PTR server. After months of wondering why Blizzard hasn’t launched one to find the bugs, they are finally doing the sensible thing.
We now know that the PTR will open on 2 April and will only run for one week. This should give players time to test some of the new systems that are coming in Season 4. Whether a week is long enough is debatable considering all the changes that are happening in Season 4.
So what does this mean for Season 3? Season 3 is now going to be extended to allow more time for the development team to address issues raised during PTR testing. Season 3 will end on 14 April and Season 4 will start on the same day.
There is also one big change with the Diablo 4 PTR, each main region (NA, EU, KR/JP, SEA, and AUS) will now have its own PTR server. If you struggled with latency on previous Diablo PTRs this should not be an issue with Diablo 4 which is great news.
What’s on the Diablo 4 PTR?
When players join the PTR, each character will automatically be given a boost to 100. Characters also come with 100,000 gold and 1000 Obols.
The campaign will be completed and all fog of war will be removed so need to worry about that. All Skill Points and class mechanics will be unlocked. This also includes all Paragon points and Paragon Glyphs are upgraded to their max level
If you’re worried about Renown, all bonuses from Renown will be the same as the player’s account Renown.
Gear
As far as gear is concerned, each character gets a random set of iPower 860 Rare gear for each boosted character. To make the Legendary hunt easier, Legendary drop rates have also been doubled. Yes, they doubled it 😉
What about the Codex?
The Codex of Power is getting a complete overhaul in Season 4 but it won’t be fully unlocked on the PTR. Seeing how the Codex of Power has changed, it’s a huge improvement over what is currently in the game. It will be a real game-changer when it comes to managing Legendary powers.
