The latest issue of Game Informer is a Diablo 4 special and confirmed that new story content is tied to Diablo 4 Seasons.
It’s been known for a long time that Diablo 4 Seasons will last 3 months which was announced back in August 2022. Blizzard stated at the time:
This has been reiterated in the Game Informer article which some readers have misinterpreted as new story content for the main story arc.
Rod Fergusson was quick to correct this stating that any new story questlines will be tied to the Diablo 4 Seasons content. In other words, no main story content is being held back for these updates.
Managing expectations – going to talk about Seasons and Expansions a lot more later but I am seeing some people misinterpreting GI article. The story that Joe P refers to in Seasons are new quest lines that help to provide context to new seasonal mechanics – not a new campaign.

I think some people were ready to complain that Blizzard was holding content back to make it part of a paid system. Yes. as always, people don’t pay enough attention to what has already been announced.
