Nightmare Dungeons

Nightmare Dungeons are part of the Diablo 4 endgame and are much more challenging than the normal dungeons found in the early game.

When can you access Nightmare Dungeons?

Access to Nightmare Dungeons only becomes available when the players reaches World Tier 3 in the game.

Once you have completed the Diablo 4 campaign and moved into World Tier 3, the Tree of Whispers is the starting point to acquire your first Nightmare Dungeon Sigil. Collect 10 Grim Favors and return to the Tree of Whispers where you be awarded a Tier 1 Sigil.

All Sigils are stored in the inventory consumable tab.

How are Nightmare Dungeons Different?

Nightmare Dungeons where additional affixes are applied to monsters in the dungeon making them a lot harder along with a variety of Afflictions.

To access Nightmare Dungeons, players acquire Nightmare Dungeon Sigils.

What are Nightmare Dungeon Sigils

Sigils are best described as keys that can open Nightmare Dungeons. These Sigils can be found in the following ways:

  • Found by completing Nightmare Dungeons
  • Completing Whispers of the Dead and obtaining cache rewards with Sigils inside.
  • Crafted at the Occultist with a cosr of Sigil Powder. Powder is obtained by salvaging unused Sigils to give Sigil Powder.

Sigil Types and Nightmare Dungeons

Sigils come in different Tier Levels with Ancestral Sigils offering the toughest challenges. These are of course more expensive if crafted.

Sacred Sigils appear in World Tier 3 and Ancestral in World Tier 4.

A ptimary reason for running Nightmare Dungeons is to acquire Glyphs which are used in the Paragon Boards.

Experience

NIghtmare Dungeons are one of the primary ways to level in the endgame.

Items and Points

As Nightmare Dungeons are tougher, provide better item drops with rarer items dropping. Rewards include:

  • Unique Items
  • Sacred Items
  • Ancestral Legendary items
  • Rare and Legendary Paragon Glyphs
  • Obols
  • Increased XP
  • Paragon Points

Monster levels change depending on the tiers of Nightmare Dungeons. A community-created spreadsheet had calculated monster levels depending on the tier of the Nightmare Dungeon.

Nightmare Dungeons and Seasons

Each Diablo 4 Season has a rotation of Nightmare Dungeons. There are 30 in total, six for each of the five zones each Season.
