Unique jewelry can be gambled in Diablo II, except in patch versions 1.07 and 1.08. Different unique rings were added in various patches, as sorted below.

Unique items in the Diablo II Expansion are found rarely, and have generally awesome stats, far better than the Uniques in Diablo II. These Exceptional Uniques are only found in the Diablo II Expansion, not in Diablo II.
Ring graphics are randomly selected, and do not tie to any particular ring. There are lots more ring graphics found on the game CD, and it's unknown why Blizzard never enabled more of them, or gave any of the unique rings unique artwork.

There are no new graphics for rings or amulets in the Expansion, and as in Diablo II, no special graphics for any Unique jewelry.

* You can not gamble any Uniques in the Expansion, they must be found.
==Unique Ring Odds==
* The generation order for unique rings/amulets is now removed in D2X and D2 1.07 or higher. Click to the bottom of the page for an explanation of it in earlier versions of Diablo II.
These apply to v1.10+. Prior to v1.07 in D2C, the three unique rings dropped in a set order. See below for more details.
* Rarity is expressed as items per 1000 items of that type. E.g. SoJ is listed at 18.9/1000. This means that out of 1000 unique rings dropped that were high enough level to be the SoJ, 18.9 would be, on average. Expansion odds are listed.
* Item Level: Monsters must be of this level to drop a given Unique item. A list of monsters and their Mlvls can be found at Darkness.
* Clvl Req: A character must be this level to equip the item.

* The "Rarity" odds assume that the monster dropping the ring is capable of dropping every unique ring in the game. Hence, if a monster able to drop the Wisp Projector unique ring, there is a 1/59 chance it will be the Wisp Projector.

* If the monster's Mlvl isn't high enough to drop some of the rings, the rarity odds change accordingly. For example, an Mlvl 40 monster could only drop the first three rings, so it would have a 15/31 chance to drop Naglering, 15/31 to drop Manald Heal, and 1/31 to drop the Stone of Jordan, vs. the 1/59 chance that a unique ring from an Mlvl 84+ monster will be an SoJ. This is why it's best to hunt for some items (such as the Stone of Jordan) on lower area levels.

The game always drops the rings in the following order:
==Ring Generation Order in D2C==

Nagelring > Manald Heal > Stone of Jordan
In D2C, prior to v1.07, the game always dropped the three unique rings in a preset order:
* Nagelring > Manald Heal > Stone of Jordan

If the game determines to drop a Unique Ring, it checks to see if a Nagelring is in the game or has already been generated in that game. If not, one will always drop. If there is a Nagelring, it does the same check for a Manald Heal, and will drop one unless there is one in the game or already generated in that game. If so, it performs the same check on the Stone of Jordan. If all three are in the game, a Rare Ring will be generated.
This meant that if the game generated a Unique ring, from a monster drop or gambling, it would always be a Nagelring, if there was not already a Nagelring in that game (previously dropped or possessed by one of the character). If there was a Nagelring, then a Manald Heal would drop. If both, then a Stone of Jordan would drop. If all three, then the ring would spawn rare instead of unique.

Most characters carried a Nagelring and Manald Heal to try and generate a SoJ in early Diablo II, or all three if they wanted only Rare Rings. Having the first two on a character and then gambling for tons of rings was a good way to get more Stones.
This was easily exploited, and characters soon learned to carry a Manald Heal and Nagelring in their stash, so any new unique rings would drop as the very valuable Stone of Jordan.

This set order of dropping is abolished in D2X and D2 1.08. Instead, the game will simply pick a unique ring to drop based on rarity and Mlvl restrictions. As with all Uniques, only one of each can drop in a given game; Uniques on characters or in their possession don't count in the drop equation.

Unique jewelry can be gambled in Diablo II, except in patch versions 1.07 and 1.08. Different unique rings were added in various patches, as sorted below.

Ring graphics are randomly selected, and do not tie to any particular ring. There are lots more ring graphics found on the game CD, and it's unknown why Blizzard never enabled more of them, or gave any of the unique rings unique artwork.

Unique Ring Odds

These apply to v1.10+. Prior to v1.07 in D2C, the three unique rings dropped in a set order. See below for more details.

Ring Generation Order in D2C

In D2C, prior to v1.07, the game always dropped the three unique rings in a preset order:

  • Nagelring > Manald Heal > Stone of Jordan

This meant that if the game generated a Unique ring, from a monster drop or gambling, it would always be a Nagelring, if there was not already a Nagelring in that game (previously dropped or possessed by one of the character). If there was a Nagelring, then a Manald Heal would drop. If both, then a Stone of Jordan would drop. If all three, then the ring would spawn rare instead of unique.

This was easily exploited, and characters soon learned to carry a Manald Heal and Nagelring in their stash, so any new unique rings would drop as the very valuable Stone of Jordan.
