The Iron Wolves were formed around 1264 by veteran mercenary Asheara.
Asheara spent many years as a member of various unscrupulous mercenary outfits. Despising the brutal tactics employed by these groups, she eventually forged the Iron Wolves, a group that would hold honor and duty above all else.[1]
They dedicate themselves to defending the innocent and punishing wrongdoers. Skilled in combat and magic, they operate as a cohesive unit, with members supporting one another. When a member dies, their belongings are divided among the group. In the quest A Wolf's Honor you are tasked with doing precisely that, retrieve fallen mercenaries' belongings.
Iron Wolves in Diablo II and Diablo III
The Iron Wolves have appeared in Diablo II, III and now IV. In Diablo II they were hirelings you could hire from Asheara. Although they were equipped with swords and a shield they mostly stayed at the back and instead used their elemental-based attacks. In Diablo III they weren't hired but assisted you with a bounty event in the Dahlgur Oasis, just southwest of the Iron Wolves Encampment.(Map). Again their attacks were elemental-based.
Iron Wolves in Diablo IV
The Iron Wolves Encampment sits in the east of Kehjistan. (Map) This is a mini settlement with a couple of vendors, a healer, a stash and a waypoint. Haddad is the Iron Wolves Quartermaster and he'll give you the quest A Wolf's Honor. Diablo IV takes place in 1336 so their founder, Asheara is long dead but there is a unique dagger named in her honor, Asheara's Khanjar.
There are several quests involving them.
