1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Well this evening I've added another Ohm and a Vex to my growing list of HRs. I'll have to get an imageshack account.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Hey guys, Have we gotten a modified RWM to use with 1.13b?

I've tried searching this thread using the search function, but apparently, it thinks that "RWM", "Rune", "Word", and "Mod" are either too short or two common, and "Rune Word Mod", as well as "RuneWordMod" wasn't found. So, search function fail, I guess.

Needless to say, I have no desire to trawl through 71 pages of posts, so if someone knows the answer, I'd be all ears!

DC's post.

Next time, I'd suggest using google instead. I find it works much better than any search function on the website. If you do a google search (without the quotes) for "site:diablo.incgamers.com/forums 1.13b rwm", then DC's post is first.

Just remember that google returns results based on the forum default, so if you're not using 10 posts per page, you'll be off... should lead you in the right direction though (just alter the page accordingly).

@mattim: Hey, that's a nifty little trick, there. I didn't realize that google allowed for search of specific sites, as well. Thanks for the info!

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Well, this finally got me back to playing Diablo.

The problem is I'm kind of fragmented. I have characters in 1.07 (several as a matter of fact, once I finally got some of the truly awesome items I did some rushing), 1.07, 1.09, 1.10 beta and I think I have a regular 1.10 character or two. Now I jumped forward and moved a 1.07 character to 1.13.

Having not played it in a while I'm having fun trying to get things in order again. My 1.07 character isn't all that well equipped because I'm I'm still trying to make sense of all my stashes and what not, but he's there.

Now, in addition to some of the elite 1.07 items I have (I think I've pretty much found all the must haves, like Wizardspike, Laying of Hands, The Grandfather, cubed Saracen's Change, Arkaine's Valor and so on), and my 1.10 beta stuff (Bul-Kathos, Crescent Moon in a 1.07 eth for my merc... still saving for Call to Arms but I think I'm just short a Vex or Ohm) I can actually hope to make the best rune words (in case you can't tell I don't trade).

I don't know if I'll ever actually put together my "ultimate" character but it's easy to imagine a crazy powerful Necro (wearing Bul-Kathos +2 skill, 1.07 Shako, beta Call to Arms on weapon switch, etc..) that now can finally become a Auramancer. I was the first person I saw saying anything about a Necro "Auramancer" build when the beta first came out (kind of suprised when I saw others using it later but then again it's not a unique name) but ironically I never thought I'd get rich enough to make one. Now there's hope!

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Yeah. Auramancer is certainly one of the builds I always wanted to try.

Kudos on the name, BTW.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

So I just saw 1.13A is up on the Blizzard FTP.

No way to get 1.13B without Battle.net connectivity, correct?

If for some reason you can't patch through connecting to the test realm, you can download all the .dll's and 'exe's (and patch_d2.mpq) and just replace the ones in your d2 directory. In practice, you extract this file into your d2 directory.

thanks a bunch but, unfortunately, it's for a mac / carbon install :)

thanks anyway.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Offtopic:

I highly doubt that, given that 1.07 Paladin shields have a lower defense than their 1.10+ counter parts and won't get their defense upgraded once brought forward. Also, as far as I know, ebugging doesn't work with 1.07 eth armors of any kind.

*checks his own Exile pally shield.

My bad. Your right. My point however was that good quality base items to suit rune words no matter what version they are from can be expensive.

The other thing I forgot to mention was the respec function, it's nice for me because it breaths life into my old characters. Nice for people trying to dust off some obsolete character that was mothballed. It might be a little too easy but I appreciate it. So, my high level Necro can become a Auramancer if I ever get the needed runes.

I haven't been playing much but I already found a Pul and a Gul. The Gul would be one of the best runes I've found, but I'm not sure if I should get excited since it's 1.13...

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

I've found a new way to express my excitement about the rune drops I've beem expereincing with a character who is leveling through Nightmare Difficiulty:

Amn has become the new El. Lower runes do drop, but they are infrequent. Most drops are Amn and higher.

And it takes 59,000 Els to cube an Amn.

13.b is not just a matter of Zods dropping 16X more frequently. Cubing high runes should be much easier as well.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

1.13b Rune drop odds when rolling from a Zod capable monster.

(table)

I haven't checked it, but it doesn't look as if the reciprocals of the 1.13 numbers sum up to 1, as they should.

I just tested it on my spreadsheet and I get the total to be 0.999484147. It looks like something is off by 0.05%. The total for 1.12a though is 1.000759674
which is 0.08% more than 1.

Hmm... wait a minute. Things are just fine. I did the calculations in the treasureclassex.txt file that the numbers come from and saved the file back to a comma separated .txt file so there is only limited precision saved rather than the original calculations that would be maintained with an excel file. With the original, unrounded numbers that I don't have any more the total should be just fine.

Summary: No problem.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

And the monsters capable of dropping a Zod are the same? And who are they by the way?

I already started a Barb to hit travincal :)

Well, the Coucil guys are not among those monsters who are capable of dropping a Zod ;). They can only drop up to a Cham.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Oh :(

Two Chams then lol (I wish I'll have that kind of luck)

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

I've found a new way to express my excitement about the rune drops I've beem expereincing with a character who is leveling through Nightmare Difficiulty:

Amn has become the new El. Lower runes do drop, but they are infrequent. Most drops are Amn and higher.

And it takes 59,000 Els to cube an Amn.

13.b is not just a matter of Zods dropping 16X more frequently. Cubing high runes should be much easier as well.

Let's do the math:

3^10 = 59,049
There are ten jumps from El->Amn, and ten jumps from Amn->Pul, so it takes the same 59K to go from one to the other. How many is 59K? Well, if you got one rune per second, it would take 16.4 hours to accumulate enough runes. That's not counting the time it takes to use the horadric cube over 60,000 times, or the time taken to stash everything. Or the number of gems of specific types required for the horadric cube recipes.

We need:
3^9 = 19,683 chipped amethysts
3^8 = 6,561 chipped sapphires
3^7 = 2,187 chipped rubies
3^6 = 729 chipped emeralds
3^5 = 243 chipped diamonds
3^4 = 81 flawed topaz
3^3 = 27 flawed amethysts
3^2 = 9 flawed sapphires
3^1 = 3 flawed rubies
3^0 = 1 flawed emerald

If we assume that it takes 1 second to find each Amn, 1 second to find each chipped/flawed gem of whichever type we want, and 1 second to use the horadric cube with any given recipe, then the total time taken will be:
(amns: ) 3^10 +
(gems: ) 3^9 + 3^8 + ... + 3^0 +
(cube: ) 3^9 + 3^8 + 3^7 + ... + 3^0
= 3^10 + 2*( 3^9 + ... + 3^0 ) = 59,049 + 2*( 19,683 + 6,561 + 2,187 +
729 + 243 + 81 + 27 + 9 + 3 + 1 ) = 118,097 seconds = 32.8 hours

And that's not to cube up a Zod, or even a lower HR. That's to cube up one Pul, assuming an obscenely high drop rate for both chipped gems and runes, that you're very very quick with the horadric cube, and that storing tens of thousands of runes and chipped gems never ever presents a storage problem of any kind.

There are 6 jumps from Pul->Vex, and it only takes 2 runes for the recipes above Pul, so there are 2^6 = 64 Pul runes needed to make a Vex. Using our extremely optimistic estimate, it would take 64*32.8 = 2,099.5 hours = 87.48 days to cube up a Vex.

There are 12 jumps from Pul->Zod, so it takes 2^12 = 4,096 Pul runes to make a Zod. Using our optimistic estimate again, it would take 4,096*32.8 = 134,348.8 hours = 5,597.8 days = 15.32 years.

To sum up:
Using unrealistically optimistic estimates, without sleeping, or breaks of any kind, it would take:
32.8 hours to cube up a Pul
87.48 days to cube up a Vex
15.32 years (without breaks or sleep) to cube up a Zod

So, technically, you're right, it is now much, much easier to cube up a Zod. 59,000 times easier. It's still not gonna happen.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

It's not just Amn that has become more common... everything above it, too.

And I doubt anyone is planning to become rich off of Amns. But now it might be conceivable to get enough, say, Puls for a Mal from normal area running, if you were so inclined. Not just for HF rushers and LK/Travincal fiends.

And with the new drop rates, you'd likely find a few Zod's worth of runes in that time. In short: don't pick up Amns after you have a bunch just like before :P.
