Well, here we are 
Patriarch Septimus, Windy Druid, and Azrael the A2 HF Merc, Lvl 99
The last quarter level was pretty smooth sailing. Drops were meh, but not the focus at this stage anyhow. He picked up two Guls early, then in ~1M as he neared 98.95, an Um, and then a Mal and a Vex on consecutive runs:
That was it for runes, and no notable drops except another Reapers (non-eth, of course) to bring me to exactly 90 Reapers found overall without a single being eth. He also picked up this interesting circlet, but is a nice complement to my charged circlet of magus with 2 Eths socketed; only one socket is a bummer but the +life is solid:
I also forgot to mention in last update that he rerolled his HotO around 98.55 based on the Vex found at Nihl from 97-98 and two more Guls in hand from level 98. He had 34@ and I figured with two rerolls it wasn't likely to be worse and could be better. It was, with 40@ on first reroll, which helped nearly top off fire resists and got lightning a little higher.

As noted, he shifted to Nihl a little after 97.4 because I was done with Baal. Some reflections of his time at Nihl are below.
First, I'd like to revise and extend my remarks on running Nihl with a Windy from the update at 98.25:
For runes: He picked up one each of Pul - Vex up to 98 (so only one Vex+), and then picked up only 3 Vex+ for 98-99 (Jah, Lo, Vex) and 12 other Pul-Gul (4 Puls, an Um, 3 Mals and 4 Guls). Interestingly, he got runes from 98-99 that would allow him to build a Phoenix, which is kind of cool. So his luck wasn't as bad as Death's zero Vex+ and only 10 Pul+ runes with Mals being the highest, but still worse than all other characters for 99. I'm thinking Mercy's level 98 runehaul was a major outlier.
For items: He picked up 4 TC87 uniques over 97-99, Darkforce and Steel Pillar during level 97, and Astreon's and Templar's from level 98. He also picked up seven, count 'em seven, eth uniques that contributed to my ethereal grail. He was quite lucky on that front.
That's about it. I'm hoping to get the 99er write up posted tomorrow!

As noted, he shifted to Nihl a little after 97.4 because I was done with Baal. Some reflections of his time at Nihl are below.
First, I'd like to revise and extend my remarks on running Nihl with a Windy from the update at 98.25:
- Ghosts are definitely annoying, but not as bad once I got the hang of casting Grizzly in their path when they were around. I used the same tactic with Vipers if confuse didn't immediately trigger. Sometimes I miscast, or multiple were on different sides, but the frequency of annoying mana burn within decrep radius dropped considerably over the last three-quarters of the level, as did aborts from Vipers.
- Getting + skills to Tornado was very important to reach damage level that gets Nihl into hit recovery. Once I found the BKWB for an extra +skill, and then each of the two skillers that dropped made a successive major difference. Nihl teleported much less regularly when not stone skin, and at the end he mostly stayed put when decrep'ed due to regular hit recovery.
- The loss of Nature's Peace in favor of BKWB was surprisingly not problematic. Cursed rolls occasionally forced aborts, but I think much less than aborts that would have occurred from Vipers or other causes with weaker damage and a faster average time for completed runs. I think it's still necessary for Sorc due to low life pool, but likely not needed for any others (and obviously not for Assassin and Necro).
- These were definitely the most complicated Nihl runs of the 6 characters who've gotten the last level that way. There basically were three completely different approaches to runs depending on whether the run had Vipers, had Ghosts, or had neither. So it was harder to do large stretches period, but especially not on autopilot, but it kept the runs engaging throughout.
- With final gear, he was averaging 2.8-2.9M per hour. The plus skills and use of Grizzly made a big difference compared to earlier runs.
