SPF Technical Support Thread

Hey y'all! Been a while! I'm playing again occasionally and have misplaced my Runeword Mod information. There was something in the files for "singling" which I downloaded. I moved the patch_d2.mpq and the Game.exe files into my Diablo II folder, but this doesn't enable the bnet only runewords as the description says it does. Am I supposed to be doing something else too? I tried copying the data/global/excel from the "Modding" part that came with the zip file, but when I add the -direct -txt it just crashes the game.

Thanks for any help!

@Serdash did you also change the "Start in" setting to specify the "Runeword" subfolder within D2 main folder? I haven't used Singling pack, just the plain RWM, but that was the thing I forgot to do. Cool to see you back, and good luck on getting things sorted out

RWM was removed from Singling at some point. You need to install the text files the old way, but Singling will give other useful fixes.

Huh. So what's the fastest/easiest way to get RWM, then?

EDIT: I understand there's FAQs and whatnot to read, but there are broken links in some of the things, so I'm just trying to go the easiest route without a lot of fuss.

A quick Google didn't help, so I figured I'd ask here.

I've recently installed D2 (LoD, v1.14b, RWM, using Glide wrapper) on a new computer running Windows 10, and I'm having problems with the automap. Sometimes the filled-in areas will vanish, so it's as if I have not explored an area. It seems to happen when traveling through a portal, and oddly enough when it happens, even the town map disappears. I am able to fill it in again by wandering the area, but it makes it very annoying to keep track of where I have and have not been.

Restarting the game seems to fix it, until it happens again. I was wondering if anyone here has had the same issue, and if so, whether they managed to solve it.

Maybe something to do with permissions on the map files?

Never heard of this one before.

It seems like there was some sort of update to the Forum software this week (it shows date instead of day the week for recent posts for me now). Is anyone else having issues with the pages loading? In both Chrome and Firefox, the page won't finish loading for usually >2 minutes, and I have to manually hit the "X" button on the browser. I've had issues posting as a result, and on my phone I can't see things in the spoiler, etc. Figured that I'd check to see if it's just an issue with my machine(s) or something else. I haven't changed any settings on my computer or phone during this period.

Took me about 15 attempts to get a reply dialog box.

I have the issue too, I have (after several attempts) made a thread in the mod forum.

I’m on mobile currently, is this on desktop too?

Yes. There's a javascript resource which never loads, but prevents other scripts from loading until the browser gives up. Some are apparently required for the reply dialog box to initialise.

URL to problematic script:
Code:
https://diablonut.incgamers.com/js/diabloNut.js

Edit: actually, nothing from that domain will load (diablonut.incgamers.com). Shady name, too :D

Seems like everyone's already confirmed, but I'll add I'm getting the issue on desktop and mobile. If you wait about 2 minutes the page will "finish loading", which I guess is the browser giving up as albatross said, and then the reply box will appear (and spoilers will start to work).

Yea, it looks like the issue is with incgamers.com. I blocked all scripts from that domain and the forum instantly loads now.

Yep, good idea.

There are several methods:
  • NoScript add-on
  • Adblocker add-on
  • Hosts file
Without knowing more about your OS, Browser and add-ons it is a bit difficult to say.

Gotcha. I didn't even know if it would be through the browser or what. But the last message was enough for me to figure it out (I have adblock plus) after a short google. Thanks! And for anyone else who has adblock plus or similar, I added "incgamers.com^$script" to the custom filters.

Will still be annoying on my phone though. I don't think I'm going to bothering figuring out how to do the same thing on safari, so I hope this gets fixed.

Appears fixed to me now, although I got no response to my thread in the mod forum.

Is it OK for everyone else?
