Legend has it there will be free kills available next time you have an outing, as long as it's not same time as my XIV raid. Hope to see some of the newer blood and not just die to Grip/froz 500 times like usual.

How to build a budget trapper
- assuming player has no good claws at all

Goals:
- 48 FHR
- 65 FCR
- 56% clawblock
- 1-6k LS trap damage
- 50 DR or close to it
- optional CBF for when cold sorceress is around, otherwise irrelevant

Budget claws of choice: Jade Talon and Bartuc's (anyone should have those, really, can't go more budget than this). We will do wsm bug with claws for this, otherwise it is not really possible to build something good. After WSM bug assassin needs 26 additional IAS to have max trap laying speed. This we can get by having IAS jewel or Shael in Bartuc's and IAS jewel in helm

WSM bug: use Jade Talon above gloves and simply lift and put it down. This forces Bartuc's to become primary weapon while also bugging the WSM. This you do at beginning of battle.

Go-to setup with variations

Assuming player has 2/20 and 2/15 or 1/15 amulet
2/20 circlet (IAS jewel)
Enigma
2/15 amulet
Talon (resistances jewel) + Bartuc's (IAS jewel or Shael)
Verdungo
FCR gloves + FCR ring
Flexible ring for skills/Oak/CBF
Resistance boots

Put points into Fade enough to have 50% DR after buffing, enough into traps and synergies for 1-6k LS damage, 1 into WoF, 1 into master, rest into Mindblast. Aim to have at least 5 seconds duration there for some comfort in playing and easier locks.

Inventory can be nearly full skillers since resistances are high

Assuming player has no FCR circlet nor 2/15 amulet, but has 2/5+ amulet
- this variant needs option of CBF in helm slot or no CBF at all (not a problem, rarely needed)

Crown of Ages (2 sockets) (IAS jewel + req jewel or whatever)
- alternative is Shako with IAS jewel / Cham but losing max trap laying speed
Enigma
2/5+ amulet
Jade + Bartuc's (IAS or Shael)
Arach
FCR gloves + FCR rings
Shadow Dancer boots or resistance boots as alternative

Put points into Fade enough to have 50% DR after buffing or close to it, enough into traps and synergies for 1-6k LS damage, 1 into WoF, 1 into master, rest into Mindblast. Ideally aim to have at least 5 seconds duration there for some comfort in playing and easier locks.

Why to build a budget trapper?
- she is a naturally strong build, traps doing killing for you and almost no matter how you play her, she is simply strong. If you know how to lay traps down, she can kill anything, rest comes with practice.

Is 1-6k LS damage enough?
- I have hybrid with 1-6k damage and trust me, she kills with traps. Trapper is one of those characters who is not about having as much damage as possible but rather how you play her. If you play her good, she will be stronger with 1-6k damage than a trapper poorly played who has 1-10k.

Why such high damage reduction?
- bowazon is nearly always present, I nearly always play physical damage builds... so, I would say yes, it is needed otherwise you might die too quickly. If you can build trapper with over 5k life and play her good, then we could argue 50% damage reduction is not AS important.

Isn't CBF mod important for her?
- I don't use CBF on mine, it is "never" needed. Cold damage you take lasts for a short time because your cold resistance is naturally high. Being frozen for less than a second is irrelevant. If you see cold sorceress, then CBF is required.

How about fire trapper?
A good option, she can be easily built and is nearly at maximum potential even with budget gear. Problem? She is much harder to play, WoF damage doesn't go over ponds, range is poor and they need to be replaced more frequently. This variant is better option regarding building her with poor gear but requires playing experience to make her strong. I could be wrong but I don't think this variant is good for beginners. LS trapper can play with only LS as a trap, fire trapper needs both WoF and LS, LS for range and stun. WoF alone can work, but makes her stuns weaker and easier to avoid because of low range.

Advantages of fire trapper:
- WoF damage is good enough at level 35 and makes no big difference with 10 additional levels, in practice
- maxed Fireblast, Fireblast can actually kill!
- easy to max Mindblast for epic stun and master spamming it

Disadvantages of fire trapper:
- needs both traps for efficient stuns
- WoF lasts short and doesn't do damage over ponds
- needs to use Fireblast to kill with some reasonable speed
- all points above making her considerably harder to play

@Gripphon somehow I feel you're trying to make me specifically build a trapper heh? I do have everything for her except claws, but I'm covered good FCR gear.

Pssst gonna let you in on a secret: I did want to build a proper PvP Trapper and set up an Anya shopping Assassin a few days ago and been trying my luck with her occasionally. However no luck yet, and I absolutely hate Anya shopping. Just did that recently in HC to get 3/20 Java gloves and I wanted to shoot myself really... I take it odds are roughly 1:9000 for a +5 LS claw, so might take a while, as well as a good part of my sanity. :D I did get a small number of interesting claws so far but nothing really jaw dropping.

I do have several rare +4 LS claws but they're bad otherwise and can only get 1 socket...

@ffs
Ups, busted!

Joke to the side, only reason new players don't build trappers is because guides out there are about "get IMBA claws" and no one has those. +3 total skills to LS is good enough until something better drops. 2 assassin skills is what matters, especially if it comes with 2 sockets. 2 assassin 1 LS claws can very well be end-game claws in my opinion. Screw perfectionism, diablo PvP isn't about it at all. This is one +4 claw I use on my trapper as end-game claw.

One Hand Damage: 39 - 52
Durability: 24 of 24
Required Level: 44
Required Strength: 99
Required Dexterity: 99
Fingerprint: 0x39538e09
Item Level: 87
Version: Expansion
+2 to Assassin Skill Levels
+1 to Mind Blast (Assassin Only)
+2 to Wake of Fire (Assassin Only)
+5 to Energy
All Resistances +30
2 Sockets (2 used)
Socketed: Scintillating Jewel of Knowledge
Socketed: Scintillating Jewel

If it had 1 socket, I'd use it with 1 socket then. 70 allres from Fade plus some from charms and boots are there... I mean, two sockets aren't really that important to build functional trapper, it is only for boosting such trapper to a next level :)
