Mafia Game: Cheers/Frasier Theme

Yeah, in the end if there wasn't the drink result on Gwaihir I would have been at a complete loss as to who to go for. Everyone seemed equally scummy to me (aside from coju a bit more so because of his actions) and I found myself trying to come up with how each person could be scum, and how they would be doing it. That's how I came up with my idea on Moar lying entirely about using the drink on Gwaihir.

*cough* Look at when and how often Gwaihir changed from single mafia to multiple mafia game setup theories *cough*

Yeah it was pretty funny, I tried to point it out a number of times but was ignored :)

Yay i can post here now!

Great game guys, i do agree with laarz that the mafia were underpowered, with so many town power roles.

My recruit chance was a 1 shot on kestegs ( rebbeca howe) and i didn't know that kegs was her until he died.

Somehow even to the end I thought it was one mafia faction OR mafia and SK. Did I miss a big post somewhere that specified otherwise? :P

I guess I didn't really make the connection between angry wives being separate.

Is the other mafia thread being provided? there's would be interesting to read as well if it's up for doing so.

crepeman's claim, where he floated the multiple mafia idea. He clarifies more in every post the rest of the day but constantly returns to the multiple mafia setup idea. He says, as bartender, he hears things but can't divulge too much. You're the person pcm quotes (1056, 1069) when saying these things and you do a remarkable job of asking exactly the right questions to which pcm basically replies: yup.

I don't know the identities of the masons, if they are truly masons. I do have a list of people the mafia apparently could not identify, and so far it isn't really matching up with our masons.

Oh if only Moar named the other masons (flubb and Loz) then pcm confirmed those names were known to mafia and hence not in the post pcm got to see. We might have had a chance!

Thanks for hosting Thy, it was a lot of fun. For anyone else wondering about the emus:

My post to Thy:
1) Do we have day talk? When can we start talking in the quicktopic?
2) Vote 2: I can see this turning into a way to try to get a second lynch for the day, is it meant to be? Might be worth clarifying if not. If so, I am already fascinated to see how it will work.
2) Rule 1 in the thread forbids carrier pigeons. If I were to train say, a messenger emu, would that be acceptable? If so, would you know where I could get my hands on an emu?

Thy's response:

Generally I don't mind questions. I prefer chocolate and pecan pie, but beggars can't be choosers.

1) No you don't have day talk. You can start talking in the Quick Topic during the first NIGHT phase. Which should be about 26 hours and 20mins. Ish.

2) It is what it is. What it's used for is not my concern.

2) Why are there two 2)'s? You may not use a messenger emu. You may polish an emu in preparation for the next game ThunderCat hosts. There is no need to tell him I authorized it's use during his game.

each night I submitted my kills through my trained emus, as I could not use them otherwise. TC, be prepared! And Thy, thanks for putting up with my silliness.

Firstly, many thank-yous go to Thy for her hosting of this game. More thank-yous go to Thy for providing me with endless laughter as she attempted (failed, but attempted) to count. Clearly math is not required to be a moderator.

Secondly, reading through the mafia threads something has become very clear to me: You guys all decided at exactly the same time to string me up. I thought it was a carefully planned strategy from one group or the other to start a train, but apparently everyone but cakes was pretty surprised when it happened. Hell, CG explicitly said it wasn't going to happen. So this brings me to my point:
coju is officially the worst lawyer ever.

Still it was a fun game, and I had fun with my made up role. Might have got away with it if not for the lie detector.

Re: End game info 1

...So this brings me to my point:
coju is officially the worst lawyer ever.

Well he is retarded. Who else would bastardize a sweet melodic name like flubbucket.

Lost it at Journal Day 8.

Yes, pharphis and I are gullible...

Well you may be gullible, but I thing pharphis has fallen victim to his inflatable girfriend.

Reach out and get some help pharphis before it's too late!!

Were you frustrated at us for using wiki definitions? Terms like cop, roleblocker, jailkeeper, etc are pretty standardized. Even if you called them something else, I'd still use the standardized definitions when describing any role to others. No matter the name for thefranklins's role, I would have linked to the mafiascum wiki entry for lie detector (since that's what I called it before thefranklin claimed).

No, more the "Mafiascum do it this way". It could work ok with a seasoned host but this nublet may well be doing things differently and by following the 'norm' ("Norm!"), it could be leading you in the wrong direction.

For a game of 27 players and oodles of power roles... Mafia teams were small. Very very very small. The town had a comfortable margin of victory despite a complete lack of cross kill.

Originally the Waiters were a mafia team. "You can't have half the town as mafia.", I was told and so I changed it.

My recruit chance was a 1 shot on kestegs ( rebbeca howe) and i didn't know that kegs was her until he died.

I do admit, had a few issues with balance. I was worried that the mafia would be overpowered with day talk etc (I was told that is quite powerful).

In retrospect, I probably should have mentioned the specific limits of mafia powers. And put some limits a couple of the town roles; EG Doc/Lawyer self-saves.

Wait so not only did Town get 5 Information roles (3 cops, lie detecter and Pman none of which have restrictions), 5 masons and a doc that can save every night, My roleblock only affected three people (and I wasn't told about it) ...... Yeah I think the balance was slightly off on this one.

None of the cops got the whole picture. Each one got partial info (IE alignment (pro/anti town), faction (Angry Wife, Waiter, Barfly, Jilted), role (Jailkeeper etc). That was very deliberate. With the drinks spiking, it gave the opportunity to mess them up as much as with the mafia.

With the drinks, I originally had the Waiters spiking a person. A different person choosing which drink worked. A further person was then to 'see' which drink was spiked'. I amalgamated the latter two roles on night one.

Firstly, many thank-yous go to Thy for her hosting of this game. More thank-yous go to Thy for providing me with endless laughter as she attempted (failed, but attempted) to count.

I was so terrified of effing up the vote tally, that I did. Frequently.

I undoubtedly made it harder for myself by noting the post numbers etc, but I wanted that info to be there. I sincerely hope that was useful and you all bug other hosts to do it. :D

(I've added the two mafia QTs to the thread, as they've been posted by the teams.)

Oh and one MAJOR coc .. er faux pas that I must admit to...

Someone was supposed to be a "Godfather". I didn't actually realize what that meant; I thought it was like "Leader". So I didn't actually tell them or do anything about it.

Apparently, a Godfather is basically a mafia with a full town backstory. Had I not messed that up, it might have helped you.

So ... sorry about that. :ashamed: and

And if I've not said it yet ... thank you all for being (relatively) kind to your nublet mafia host. :)

hahahahahahahahahaha! Who was it?

@flubb,
Honestly, I couldn't save myself, and everyone seemed scummy. We were doing too well it felt and I was worried as to what the mafia still had cooped up against us, so I chose someone more or less randomly. (but refused to pick you)

Edit: Perhaps masons could have been their own faction but w/o NK abilities. Since their numbers would have been thinned throughout their voting majority wouldn't have been too excessive.

Thank you for hosting Thy, it was a good game and I wish I could have played in it. As it was I just barely drifted through.

I like the spiking mechanic. Once Pyro popped up with his info, it all made sense and I sort of guessed that it was a "reversal of effect" thing.

Tough one to be mafia in but it could have worked for them with a bit more luck.

Oh, and about OMG and his win - I TOLD YOU SO ALL ALONG

Whole bunch of random thoughts put together.

rough game for the mafia. Weak powers verse a town with a ton of very strong ones. 2 mafia teams further weakened us, as 7 would have been reasonable for this size game on one team. Top it off with role reveals on night kills without any fake claims and wow, super difficult. I completely agree with Gory, the strongest town power was 5 confirmed masons - that is just scary, they were a bigger voting block than even the mafia factions. Oh well, the game was still quite fun.

It also did not help that mafia had so many one kill nights. Apparently Jcakes and I felt exactly the same about people a couple of nights, and there were several more with saves it seems.

Anyways, for specific people:
omg - well played sir. Great job. Had me completely fooled.
frozzzen - Again great job on outing the doc. Really wish that would have worked out better for us.
phar - good job on your claim, it matched with what I thought as we had tried to kill you 2 nights in a row, and both failed.
coju - LEAVE ME ALONE IM NOT SCUM I PROMISE. good job on hunting me down.
Gory - yeah, I abandoned the 2-mafia theory pretty quick in the late game. figured if it came down to it, I could point out that everyone just flipped anti-town. No one else talked about it at all, so I just kinda let it slide.
SI - thank god we got rid of you as apparently I triggered your scum sensor pretty early
PCM - I hate your role with a passion. See the NCIS game, when I was a neutral mafia spy - I had a real hard time figuring out what exactly I should do with it and what is fair to play. When that role is pro-town, it can break the game really easily. Note, this is nothing against you, you did a really good job with it. I just think it is really questionable for mafia to not be able to trust a mod supplied thread. I remember some other game where the mafia even created a second thread to avoid a possible eavesdropper, and it just gets to be not as fun.
Pyro - I thought you had to be scum to balance out mafia teams (4 each), and was pretty annoyed in the morning when I was targeted for roleblock again. Was tempted to go on a huge info dump to get you lynched. Turns out you were town. Lol. glad I didn't make a fool of myself.

Looking back on it, probably should have tried to work with Jcakes more.

Also Thy, how did that postman role work? It sounded interesting.
