1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I counted my shae runes and I thought I had about 15+, but I actually have 35 (I know, I know - that technically counts asr 15+).

So - magic is 1:30 chance, i.e. if I find a vampirebone gloves rack I have to do over 1k runs to craft them all? And here I thought I was mostly done searching for racks and running them t_t

I'm doing it! I only found the rack like 2 nights ago and I've already made about 15 pairs :)
Still waiting on the gold champion sword, too. I think I STILL have 30-40 shae runes left

I wouldn't run them if I were HC :( I haven't died in a while, but that was a steep learning curve, and I still have NDEs when picking up stuff with PI Toorc doing his business, most likely with Fana/Might, and me being Amp'd. Re-casting Decoy against that can help, if there's really something you must pick up, but if I were HC, I'd just S&E.
Having a second look at this because I still want to try one out, and found that I do in fact still have my Tiamat's...

Why mpk ring? Wouldn't leech or soj or even more mdr be better? ravenfrost?
Any opinions on a better shield than tiamat's? The dmg boost seems like it would be minimal though the res is nice...
Maybe I should craft some javs...'

edit: I'm totally out of rubies so no chance to craft javs. Will have to use my unique ones with low base dmg for now.

For those planning on using a rogue with an amp dmg bow, make sure to hire AMPLISA, for the hidden 100% ctc amp dmg bonus
 
Alright, I've got my 88 javazon all set up (though I still have to craft some javs) and I'm trying to figure out what would be a good map. All outside on balcony? All outside near doorway? All inside?
 
FRW doesn't have diminishing returns in 1.07, so Trang's armor is good for going fast, even though its heavy armor (I often use it on non-sorc rackrunners because they're...you know...running:p )

@DiabloTwoinDC, try this in 1.07 for fun: HLW, Trang's armor, Mav's belt, Sander's boots on Assassin w/BoS or Barb w/Increased Speed and 2*Crainte Vomir... its INSANE how fast they move!!!!

@pharphis seriously, your bottleneck on crafting 1.07 greater blood gloves is RUBIES!?!?!?!?!:confused:

@Yann I find racking blue bases actually kinda fun...you get a 'hit' pretty frequently, and you don't even care about the mods/eth/sockets, so no need to waste time checking in-game, just grab it and move on (you can study the mods after you've muled a bunch into a stash if you wish), so it goes fast... You can try racking while wearing MF, its not supposed to help, but I kinda wonder...I seem to get blues a bit more when I wear decent MF while racking (like 1:25 or so, instead of 1:30...not a huge diff, but it would make a difference in a longer term effort like you're considering). I'm not at all sure of this though, it may just be a case of confirmation bias on my part, but you could try it and see if you think it makes a difference...

@WoRG Since this is my lucky week I found a 100% stable vampirebone gloves rack like an hour ago, 4 teleports away from the WP. It's the campfire armor rack, so I get 3 super chests as well (other campfire is too far away). I got 4 blue ones already, it'll be fine. I wasn't specifically looking for one, just rerolling LK maps for a good super chest layout and checking some racks while doing so.

What I usually do is scout the immediate vicinity of the WPs (LK/Bazaar/UK) for racks/camp fires and then try 2-3 simple teleport approaches to racks that are a maximum of ~5 teleports away. Can't be bothered with racks that are far away and/or unstable and/or need a sequence of more than 1 other rack before them.

This is my first time racking blue bases, only racked uniques, sets, RW bases and blood weapon bases so far (and those don't count, since you can use any quality and even recraft them).

I haven't cubed any res rings yet either, except for the sapphire recipe. Only have like 3 or 4 shrines worth of exploding potions though.
 
Ok, finding 36 (since I found a 36th shae while running) blue vampirebone gloves didn't take quite as long as I estimated it would, even though I got 4 rare (2 of which were failed uniques) while doing so. I have to stash some more for future shae runes, but I crafted the 36 pairs that I could.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but it appears as though you can't get dual leech on blood gloves. I think the mana leech absorbs or removes the life leech whenever it spawns. This happened to my crafts as well as @Yann above. I think I mentioned a similar bug with someone else (+def?) on the deadly crafts though I can't remember anymore (I made a post about it in aug-septish) and we all know about some bugs adding stats together.

The question is: how high can mana leech go normally, and how high could it go theoretically given life leech is added vs removed? Someone more familiar with the affixes can probably figure it out very quickly
 
It's WAAAAYYYY faster to rack elite blue bases than to shop them....the hard part is getting the proper stable rack, but once you do, it doesn't take long at all to gather a pile of blue bases, and its kinda relaxing, in that expectations are low, and get satisfied very regularly.

Blood gloves CAN spawn dual leech...

It's pretty rare though...

Pretty sure that dual leech gloves have to actually spawn both leech affixes on the roll...the first leech affix will absorb the automod leech, and if its LL, it will also absorb the +life... both leech affixes for gloves are fixed at 3%, so if ML spawns first, it will be 4-9%; if LL spawns first, it could be 19-34%...but if LL spawns second, its 3% and the +life just goes away:(

Looked closer at @Yann's posted results as well as some of my own stashes, and need to revise my theory: the affix leech (3%) is added to the range of the automod, rather than the result...so instead of 5-9%ML, you'd get 2-9%ML (or 3-9%, if it also adds to the lower range...neither Yann nor myself had any ML gloves less than 3%, but that doesn't prove that it couldn't spawn only 2%). Similarly, LL would be 16-34%, which accounts for some 16%LL gloves I rolled.

I've looked at it with a fat grin on my face every day since I found it. Don't misconstrue this as gloating, I'm just excited about it.

Before the massively increased drop rates in 1.13 the only runes above vex that I had found were 2 sur in 1.09 (really useless back then, could not be cubed, inherent bonus not worth it and zero rune words with a sur) and a 3rd sur in either 1.11 or 1.12.

17 years of playing d2 on and off (had many breaks, some were several years long) and it's one of my best drops.
