Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes

Can I have a bottle of the strongest drink you have, I need something to knock me out that doesn't equate to blunt force trauma.
The reason beeing I have a tear in my outer meniscus of my right knee and it hurts, I've got good days and bad one and today is a particularly bad one.
MRI has to be planned still but will probably take 1.5 to 2 months before I can get one and then I'll need to visit a doctor that specializes in knees and we'll go from there.

Ouch, that's no fun kamap. How did it happen? Sports?

Also, 5000 posts here, jay !!! Or better: ouch, how did that happen?

Oh my, I've missed a bit on the forums. Many things... (Edit: Anyone who can recall my stance on 'certain' events could probably guess what I'm reading up on now. But I'd be surprised, as some of these are a couple of years old.)

I'm not back to D2, nor really browsing the forums, and I don't want to delve into RL. I am sorry to hear about your knee though, kamap. Look after it; knees are very delicate, as I'm sure you know, so I wish you the best and speediest recovery.

Holy *censored* I've stumbled on a mine field. *pokes every mine upon the field*

*stacks @DurfBarian replicated cards on the counter*

By the way, have you heard @DurfBarian might also have something called "Bit. Coin."? We don't need his cards if we can use his Bit. Coin. account! And if not, I'm behind the counter at the moment!

Well, i guess tonight is symbolic for my life. Came home from work after going grocery shopping. Key broke. Called locksmith. Said they'd be there in 20 mins. Got called almost immediately after by the guy that got the assignment that it was gonna be 40 because traffic. Sucks, but allright what you're gonna do? So i wait. After an hour i called again. He's gonna call his guy again and that guy should let me know something. *me waiting in silence* Another 25 or so mins later i call again. With me waiting he calls the guy that's supposedly on the way. Comes back to me: He'll be there in 5 mins. Me being pretty PO at that point: Ok i'll give it 5 mins, but if he ain't here i'm calling another locksmith. So i wait another 15 mins. Still nobody in sight. I call another smith. They say they will be there in under 30. So i continue to wait. After about 25 mins some guy actually shows up. Turns out to be the guy i called last. He changes the lock and everything and about 2,5 hours after my first call my lock is changed and the guy i originally called is still nowhere to be seen. Thus ended the great wait of 2019.

I hope this won't happen too often. Cost me 544 euro's and 2,5 hours of my life i'll never get back. Plus i can throw away some of my groceries because i don't trust that i won't be getting sick of it. All that remains now is to wait and see if guy 1 ever bothers to show up or if he drove into a black hole. Oh and finally make dinner so i can eat a couple of hours late.

 Seems a bit steep for a locksmith call, even out of hours.

Agreed, but what you gonna do? Tell them i'll wait another half hour for someone cheaper that may or may not show up. I was waiting for 2,5 hrs outside my own house. They can pretty much charge whatever they want. I was just glad the second guy did show up. Guy #1 is still MIA. Don't think i'll ever hear from them again. If they do i may want to try and scare them by telling them they'll be receiving a bill for my wasted time shortly. And if real life doesn't get in the way too much i'll have to see if i can leave a not so positive review somewhere online to warn other people. If it were up to them i'd be sleeping outside my own house tonight.

As for the bill itself: 20 euro's for driving to my house. 90 euro's as a starting tariff. 90 more to drill the lock out (1 min work). 150 for a new lock. 100 for it being in the evening (bill says it started there so i'm guessing night and/or weekend mentioned there was even more expensive). And then some taxes. For the grand total mentioned earlier. So yeah, they make good bucks for about an hours worth of work. About 25 mins to drive to me. Let's assume same back. Then 4 mins of work (2 drilling lock out, 2 putting new lock in) and a handful of mins for paperwork plus paying. So that's about an hour total for them. I may have to start my own lock business.

I’m finally starting in the process of moving back to LA to join my parents. I have a tenative job offer for a two grade pay bump. Now just need to fill out forms and wait to hear back from security.

I am never duplicating my apartment key because I’m paranoid the leasing company will know. Do you have an old lock on it? How did the key break?

Seems lucrative, I might join you in that plan!

If you two need any start-up investors, I could hop on that wagon...

So, this may be just a gap in language, but if it is in fact a house, doesn't it have a backdoor? Also, if it is yours as in you have the deed and/or mortgage on it, it may have been cheaper to break a (small) window and have that repaired... something to think about in case it happens again...

That's a very high price here as well, although there are variables and it's an out of hours call apparently. But I can definitely see that by then, the second guy turns up on time and gets the job done, and you can finally get to your evening.

Don't be surprised if you arrive at your house this evening, only to find out it has another lock yet again, so you can't get in. Just means guy nr. 1 did arrive at some point .

Sorry to hear about the news. Hopefully today will be a better day for you !!

Probably from throwing myself between some hooligans that were about to crash into my 5 year old niece.
It happened in centerparcs on the wild water rapid slide.
That is the most likely cause but could be any number of things.

@T72on1: Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, lovely SPAM!

@Drystan: Thanks and yes I know.

@Cyrax: Bummer that.

*Pours a few glasses of absinthe, sets some on fire with the sugar cube thingy, others will get water slowly poured over the suger cube till it dissolves when all are ready, drinks them in quick succescion and pass out on the bar*
