Re: Tournament: The Sword of Destiny
Very good progress for Marion. As far as I can tell, she has taken the lead among the Sorceresses.
Combat Shrine help for the Duriel battle.
Her Sword of Destiny dropped in Great Marsh - Shadowfang. Meh. At least it´s not terribly slow...
Marion is starting to become powerful. Once I could get Fire Mastery up a couple levels, Enchant damage was no longer puny. Even when she isn´t fighting right next to her merc, she holds her own pretty well. I thought having no shield would be more painful that it has been so far. It´s probably her big resists and decent life pool that helps - plus that she puts most monsters into hit recovery with her fiery hits.
Really mixed bag in the item department. I have actually managed to craft
three pairs of Blood boots. The first two had only one random affix, and a useless one at that, so they were
worse than my rare Chain Boots. Then
this pair drops. A clear candidate for Durf´s Rare Crap page. They are so bad it´s funny...
I still had not found a second rare ring when I solved the second quest in Act III, which granted me one. And
whoa, one of the best Normal Gidbinn rewards I´ve seen.
I got a Ral and a perfect amethyst from Hellforge. Looks like the game suggests a Caster amulet...
Diablo, then. OK, resist are awesome (nearly maxed) and Marion is no weakling (349 life). But no shield against D? Scary...
To be honest, I had a backup plan: hire a rogue merc, give her a Composite Bow, Enchant her and teleport her around...But that was not really in the spirit of the tourney, so once Durga died (inevitable

) I tried some upfront fighting. And it wasn´t so bad, actually. I know Diablo´s attack pattern, and I adapted to that and did some hit-and-run, and sometimes
longer melee sessions. The cold damage helps to keep Diablo a little slower. After a scary fight (but still with reasonable control - just one full purple used, but plenty of Jamella´s greater healers), Marion prevailed. Yay!
Diablo dropped six rares, all weapons. I keep the best weapon for each merc type, but none of these qualified.
