Just when I started dreaming of finding an exceptional unique SoD, this happened :unimpressed: From a random zombie in a Coldcrows cave (level2). I guess that it could have been worse, so I won't complain.
I shouldn't have played at P8 :banghead:

I enter with a paladin named "Sub-Zero". I think the name makes his primary skill rather obvious :smug:. Depending on the rune drops or his SoD I will decide about his backup skill (if I survive long enough ... but I intend to play this char only when I am sober, so maybe he lasts a little bit longer than my last tourney chars :whistling:).

Shael or IAS jewel seems pretty handy in a tournament where our only sources of IAS are gloves and the weapon itself.

Another question: Can I upgrade it into Elite sword after upgrading it into Exceptional?

You can, but gl finding that Pul that you need for it. Maybe from Nm or Hell Forge. :cloud9:

We made it into hell :jig:. Who would of thought a sword wielding assassin could do it? So most of Act V was fairly smooth, went and rescued Anya, worked my way to the ancients, had a funny feeling the ancients were going to be trouble and boy were they! First order of business was to seed the area with all the rejuvs i had in the stash plus plenty of healing pots as well. Talic spawned with a freeze aura and that caused most of the trouble, its hard enough against these guys without being frozen. I had used nearly all the pots i had dropped just to try and separate them, managed to get Talic on his own while we worked on the other two. By the time they were down, i had 3 rejuvs left, no healing pots and the merc was dead. Basically had to sit back and wait for the Shadow master to take Talic down. Tried to take a few swings at him, but if he hit me too many times i had no way of restoring my health, except for the replenish life on my boots. But eventually the SM took him down. Now it was time for Baal. Dispatched the minions without to much fuss and after about 20mins Baal followed them, after leaving behind nothing useful. Decided to clear out the Den in hell just to see how hard it would be, and well, this might take a while.

This looks like an interesting tournament, I think I'll join up. Orlog the Chosen One currently resides in the Rogue Encampment eagerly awaiting a chance to conquer the Blood Moor and the evil within it.

edit: Don't know if this question has been addressed since I only scanned most of the thread but what are the rules for an iron golem? Can it only be summoned from whites, grays and rares as well? Or can I summon one from uniques and greens that I find? Thanks.

Lancelot has made it into Nightmare. Baal's Minions were a bit of a pain as they slew the Merc a few times but Baal himself went down without even killing the merc using decrep + clay golem. It took a while though. I found it impossible to kill Blood Raven too - she raises monsters too quickly for myself, the merc and the golem to keep up with. The rare Bardich (3-34 damage, +29% ED, +10 AR, +2 min, 1-2 fire, 1-2 cold) that I found in act 1 normal is not really sufficient any more and I haven't come across anything better.

Now that I've maxed golem mastery I'm not sure what to do with spare points. I guess Dim Vision would be the obvious choice but I had thought that if I tired of the slow going I could convert him into something relatively normal with CE + something else.

edit: Don't know if this question has been addressed since I only scanned most of the thread but what are the rules for an iron golem? Can it only be summoned from whites, grays and rares as well? Or can I summon one from uniques and greens that I find? Thanks.

I've been shopping blues to make my Iron Golem which Sixstringer said was allowed earlier. I haven't had a unique worth converting yet.

I knew it was going to be tough in Hell, but i had no idea how much! Spend 20mins clearing most of the cold plain, then it was into the Burial grounds to tackle Blood Raven. Between the merc, me and SM i took about a minute just to kill one of the hungry dead minions so i just ran around the minions and focused of her. Merc died more times than i can remember, spent about 500k reviving him. Afetr about 30mins of this she was dead and there were about 50+ minions floating around, so i beat a hasty retreat.

Went back to clear the rest of Cold plains when i ran into a cold aura Fallen Shaman, started wailing on him, when i realised i was in trouble i couldn't get away quick enough and well this. Couldn't see Boxxy getting much further anyway, with the merc and the SM constantly dying and the low damage output of my SoD it was only a matter of time. Has been a blast, so gl to all (especially if you reach Hell). May enter another char over the next couple days, not sure yet. :wave:

Sorry about the deeds.

Well, after running on a long streak of good luck, myswordisbigger's luck ran out. While frolicking in Act 4, a champion Doom Knight dropped a Soulflay. Not just a Soulflay, a 76% ed Soulflay. Although I'm disappointed, I'm also relieved it isn't something worse like an Awl. Immediately, I started running Countess until I found a Shael and Sol, which I then used to socket and upgrade the sword with respectively. Already at two Lums, I hoped the Hellforge would drop a Pul (or a Lem or Um in order for some powerful runewords) but I got a Shael! :crazyeyes:

Unless I get lucky very quickly, I'll probably end up making an Honor in the next appropriate sword I find. I'm expecting a much better sword to drop off of Diablo or something, just to spite me. :yes:

First they whacked my merc, then I got stuck between them, and tried to leap away in a wall twice, after that I died.

There's a reason I'm always extremely careful whenever I'm enter the Spider Cavern. Sszark is probably near the top of the most dangerous of the forgotten about Super Uniques, as he routinely nearly OHKs most characters, especially the untwinked variety. I actually just ran from him in NM (FE + Extra strong + Cursed). Sorry about the deeds.

Based on experience, Spectral Hit (among other more hidden statistics) applies a random element to each attack.

Well, than was an interesting first act. ;)

I am thankful that mercs are not nerfed much in this tournament. Elly must have done far more damage than Marion, mostly because of her much faster attack speed. Once I could add Enchant damage to her arrows, progress sped up quite a bit.

Marion has 8 saved skillpoints. That´s what I need to be able to pump Enchant and Fire Mastery simulataneusly until Enchant is maxed. Any bonus skill points (Radament, Izual) will go to Warmth.

Marion has not quite embraced this 'me being a warrior' thing, but she certainly looks the part, with a flaming sword that is bigger than she is. :rolleyes:

As you can see from the stats, she actually has some resists. That´s mostly from charms. Since I will be at maximum gold storage capacity (minus a couple of thousand so I can pick up gold when I sort through big item piles...) for long periods of time, stuffing the inventory with charms will not be as annoying as usual (because the selling trips will be much fewer).

Took on Andariel with exactly 200 life. Although she hit me with almost every attack, it was less scary than I had feared. Used up more Rejuves than I had planned, though.


I have hired Durga the Prayer merc. Andariel dropped a decent rare Trident (12-20 damage, +1-7 lightning damage, 10% IAS, slight cold resist and 4% life steal) that he will use. His armor items are non-magical (Splint Mail, Full Helm).

Marion has found some rare Chain Boots with a small resist and FHR. Gloves are still non-magical and she has no amulet and only one ring. Her new sword is a 3s Claymore with a rare jewel (8% cold resist, +8 max damage). I plan to add two Ith runes when they drop.

I hunger for rares all the time in this tournament! Even more so than I did in 'Rare Pleasues'. That´s because we could gamble in that tourney...

This sounds like a cool thing and I've never done anything like this before really. Only normal untwinked single player. Maybe I'll join up. ;)
