Gawain is now on nightmare difficulty ! Killed Mephisto without any effort. I might have just let the merc to kill him. Diablo on the other hand was hard! The lord of Terror was truly a worthy adversary. Gawain could not tank him, Diablo`s fire storm and lightning storm were too powerful. But eventually he fell too before the mighty warrior.
The ancients were tough it took time to kill them , they could not cause nearly enough damage to Gawain or his merc, so with time they were defeated as well. After 5 pindle runs I found these:
Next was Baal, again not a match for Gawain. Still it took time but the fight was one sided. No drops worth mentioning but Immortal King helmet which i found on my way to the Ancients.
Gawain is level 37 and his next target is The stony field !

On another note. The lowest level in an area techinicly is supposed to be at the top since lowest level guardian wins.
Anyway I killed Duriel which was so...Hard. Each of his attacks took 1/3 of my life. I finally prospered over duriel when i just ran in circles while my merc slowly killed him. I wasted all my juvies except for 2 and now im left in the spider forest shivering in the corner from my arachniphobia.
Whats the highest rune normal countess can drop because i need to get some new runes for my soon to be socketed flambarage which i am currently looking for.
I'm hitting at 20 frames right now, too slow for my taste. I would prefer to socket it with a shael. I just need to find that Shael. Still it's an idea...
After only 9 runs I can pay good old Larzuk a visit.
Played all Act1 on /players4 which was a pretty comfy level. No NDEs and andariel went down pretty easy with the help of my new gloves (got lucky with my crafting). The drop was no use for neither Sven or Chalan, but he was happy anyway with his newly socketed SoD.

Turin has whomped on Mephisto And Act III in general.
I decided to do a bit of crafting before Travincal, despite the relatively low level, to get some more life leech and life. I managed to get a sweet roll on my first set of blood gloves, with 10% CB, 3% LL, and 13 life. I crafted a helm that sucked despite +18 to life and gave it to Razan, as well as a pair of boots with 2% LL, 13 life, 26% cold resist and 6 regen. Unfortunately, can't wear those until I hit level 35.
I continued to be blessed with nice charm drops: two +16 life grand charms and one +17 lifer gc dropped in Act III.
The Redemption aura, 12% total life leech (4% net after Sacrifice) and a big life pool of 620 means that NDEs are almost non-existent. With my SoD in hand, stat points have been pouring into Vitality since the reqs for Shadowfang are so low. Once I find a Sol rune I'll have to think about getting STR and DEX up enough to wield an Espandon, but for now I'm loving the life from 5 Vit points every level. My orb barely went down to half full until the Durance, where loads of Blood Lord types were raining meteors on me. Resists are starting to suck a little more, though I have Salvation hotkeyed which can max them with the touch of a button.
Meph dropped a four rares, three of which were useless, but he did leave a pike with 19% ED and 10% Fire Resist that's a pretty nice upgrade for Razan, though we'll miss the Amp Damage from his previous trident.

Quick question: While on my way through the Ancient's Way I found a beautiful rare mask with 30% Cold resist, a little magic find, 10% FHR, and two open sockets. I'm pretty sure I know the answer before I ask, but can I put anything in those sockets? I know socketing is outlawed, but maybe if it is putting things in a rare that spawned with mechanic's?

I'm tempted to make a character named Nihlathak and having him personalize the sword so it would be Nihlathak's Blacktongue. I'd post a screenshot, but I can't find the new ones.
Bryanhilda has defeated Baal at level 45 and is ready to move on to Nightmare. I understand that our only Guardian so far is also an Amazon using Blacktongue, so this makes me feel a bit better about things going into Nightmare.
Quick update. Thanks to some really fortuitous maps, Turin cruised through Act IV until he hit Diablo, who was his usual pain-in-the-life-pool self. He lightninged poor Razan whenever he got close, but the CB from Turin's blood gloves helped things along nicely.
Diablo's drop was pretty decent. Turin immediately equipped one of the breast plates. though he had to sacrifice a little lightning resist, the defense and cold resist will be welcome in Act V.
@dlav: It wasn't THAT bad. It was more like 2.5 hours :crazyeyes:.
@whommy: When saying i hoped someone would follow in my footsteps i meant making guardian. Not actually creating the exact same char as me :nono:. At least now you know how it's done.
Funny you should mention the personalising. I've been thinking of doing Nilathak after making guardian to personalise the sword. Somehow i feel a SoD should have a name.
Lancelot looked at the newly opened hole in Tal Rasha's chamber, gripping Soulflay tightly. He knew the fat demon Duriel he had met previously would be waiting, revitalised and stronger than before. He drank two of the yellow potions, took a deep breath and stepped through the wall.
"Looking for Baal" roared Duriel as he charged Lancelot, ignoring Azrael. Lancelot was knocked back, stunned. He received another powerful blow and closed his eyes waiting for the end, and then he heard a squeak and a clang as the golem took the killing blow. He scrambled up, glugging a potion and prepared the incantation for the clay golem just as the iron golem was mashed into scrap.
From then on, it was a matter of endurance. The golem could last three or four blows (he blessed his forsight in specialising in golem mastery) and it was essential to summon a new golem before the previous one died to avoid Duriel turning his attention to Lancelot. Within a few minutes, Duriel was dead.

Azreal got two weapon upgrades in Act 3. The first was in the Spider Forest to a plain ethereal lochaber axe. Then, finally in Lower Kurast we found a crude lance which was imbued by Charsi. The result wasn't perfect, but was a pretty good upgrade.

Sven plowed through act2 & act3 on /players4 without any problems or NDEs. Found some random uniques along the way. He still has respectable damage even with his SoD un-upgraded. He still needs some levels to equip a Executioner Sword.
I'm happy that I didn't get one of the usual suspects as SoD (Shadowfang, Soulflay, Blacktounge), even though I was silently hoping for a Crainte Vomir.

I was a little excited when I saw the sword since I had just read your Guardian thread where you had generally good things to say about it. On the other hand, I don't enjoy being a copycat... not that I'm doing it intentionally. I guess its just my destiny!
I was looking into the poison damage on the sword, and trying to think of a way to make that more useful. I haven't been able to find a good guide on how to calculate poison damage. Am I correct that, if I were to put a Tal in the sword, I would go from 112 damage over 6 seconds (18.67/second) to 187 over 11 seconds (17/second)? So the Tal would actually decrease my poison damage over time?
If that's the case, is there anything I can do to increase my poison damage per second? I'm just thinking of all the physical immunes out there waiting for poor Brynhilda.
