The Untwinked Level 99 Progress Thread, The Saviours of Sanctuary Rise Anew

Not much to update on the Jin-qua front as after he ticked lvl 87. I've parked him for the moment as I level my Fanatic Zealidin, DirkStruan. Dirk has ticked lvl 76, and the ride so far has been very interesting indeed. In the twinked world, he would have normally relied on Sigon's gloves, belt, boots, and armor to help level through normal and nightmare. But having not found a single one of those in his path to 76, he's worn some rather odd combinations indeed. He relied on Civerb's Cudgel as his weapon through most of normal and nightmare, along with an Ancient's Pledge Aerin shield, making the goings slow indeed - especially through Acts 3 and 4 of nightmare, until a rare Holy Water Sprinkler with 161% ED dropped. Dirk made it to Act V, where he rescued Anya and then a Butcher's Pupil dropped in the Glacial Trail. He then did quite a few Eldritch/Shenk runs, with the only drop of note being a Laying of Hands, but those two aforementioned drops helped beef him up to kill the Ancients, which took a couple of TP resets to get rid of a Might Aura and some curses. He then took to Baal and killed him with no issues. A few Baal runs took him to 72, to which point he took to Hell.

I was reminded very quickly how important the Cannot Be Frozen mod is for a HC melee character in Hell. The goings were....very slow. I made it to the Pits, where after only a couple of runs I was again reminded of the importance of CBF. Up until this point, I had not found a single two-socketed shield of any kind (Pally or regular) in which to make Rhyme, which is usually a staple for my builds as they're leveling. The best helm I had was a Sazabi's. Also, the best armor I'd found so far? A Heavenly Garb.

So at that point, it was back to NM and some Meph runs looking to beef him up a bit. I eventually had a Rockstopper and Tearhaunch greaves drop from Meph, as well as a 2os Akaran Targe with +30 all resist that made a fantastic base for Rhyme (that dropped from the rack adjacent to Meph).

Back to Hell I've gone, and started Pit runs again....still some kiting needed, but not nearly as much as before. I've also started Countess runs as well. The only drops of note so far have been a Fal rune in the Pits, and a Lem rune on the quest drop for the Countess. So I'm still poor, but trudging along at lvl 76.

hey guys, didnt go on for a while here now and also didnt rly follow the thread. gz to 99 pax, hello to the new ones (and to the old ones^^)

i did some millons on my necro now and didnt rly consider goin d2r with him for 2 reasons, 1st is, the main one, the mf calc doesnt work there afaik and its just too nice to see "unique kill 1" or the exp rise when u just kill nihla with ure CE offscreen and 2nd loading times^^
i'm pretty sure i will go on with the hc pala on ressurrected (and other chars, but those are twinked) somewhen on cs runs, but also not 100% sure there. at least i got 2 sojs on pala so i could sell 1 or even both to get an anni, dont have one on the necromancer btw^^

Is it actually allowed (and even possible?)to farm keys, switch to d2r to get anni and torch and then switch back to normal d2 and go on with that 2 op charms? (in that case i would probably farm a torch on the necromancer and go back to normal d2^^)

Once you swirched to d2r there is no going back. Timetravel rules.
I think its also not even possible to changed the save files back to legacy.

Time for an update!

Alright, Septimus has made it to the last level. He's been netting between 3M and 3.5M per hour on the current map. I actually rerolled to a 2-shrine map with fewer mobs around the platform part way to 97.75 but forgot to mention it, but think it's worth noting because it really can make a big difference. Rate of bailing from vipers dropped considerably, and also allowed me to play around with approaches to step back and other tactics to manage around the clouds. Basically, he tries to teleport out of the cloud and if successful can usually reposition/telebomb to hit Nihl without risking clouds or just aim the Tornados from where he landed to finish him off. He's had a few close calls but now is fairly adept at knowing when to bail (might aura, amp'ed) versus finishing the run.

Drops were limited, with Darkforce the only one worthy of screenshot, plus a Pul and Ist for for one each of Pul-Vex for the 0.55 level at Nihl but nothing higher.

He will get a break until at least the weekend due to being out of town for work. Then I'm hoping to get him toward 98.5 over the rest of the year, which should be doable with the holidays. But maybe not, because I'll be visiting my family for a week in early December, which I'm really looking forward to.

@ PhineasB: Perfect character screen incoming. What a legend and motivation to us mortals you are!

Fiona meanwhile went head to head with DClone. Although she had defeated Hell Baal, she had not done the Hellforge quest. So in preparation she did it and found an UM which resulted in a Duress for her Merc. With both Fiona and her merc having a source of CB the fight should be easy, right?

It pretty much was.

Only one visit to town needed.

I very much feared a low exp roll, so I am more than stoked about the result. This will enable Fiona to get rid of some resistance charms as well as finally upping Titans without a reset from Akara.

I do not like double posts, but this definately justifies one in my opinion.

I just found a Griffons with my UT Amazon! Can believe my luck and needed to double check many times in my head that a Diadem is actually Griffons. Yeah!

Highest rune so far has been UM from hellforge, some basics are still missing (e.g. Skullders, Duriels, Maras or Highlords), but I have found my first Griffons with my untwinked Amazon. How great is that! I can't believe my luck!

PS: I take this not only as very lucky, but maybe as a sign for Fiona to push her further than I have with any other character before.

Howdy!

@Irenicus Holy shit gz on that griffons drop. Thats insane!

Ive been playing my paladin non stop basically since I finished my barb.
So Pax has made it to level 95.

I also farmed 30 Terror and 30 Hate keys. So I only need to farm 30 Destruction keys and have to put together some gear to finally go for that paladin Torch. I really hope I can get one in 10 torch runs.
But I think I solved the dilemma with respeccing to smiter and back to hammderdin. I will try and go with the 1 point in smite and 1 point in fanatism approach. This way I dont have to use a respecc and if I dont get a paladin torch I can just keep farming keys as a hammderin.

Running chaos sanctuary is alot more dangerous with the lower resist curse. If iam cursed and I run into conviction Infector of Souls it gets super scary.

So here are the noticable drops from 94-95:

So now that Iam at 0% I will farm Nihlathak for the 30 keys, then I will try Mephisto abit for Draculs. If they dont drop I will go with a lifetap wand.

Wanted to wait till 94~95 or so before the update; but I couldn't wait to showoff my shiny new armor.

Goal for this year is to farm 1 torch and 1 anni with this necro.
Random youtube videos make it seem like tele-bombing + decrep is enough for the Ubers; but some more research is needed.
SoJ required for the anni is purely based on luck; so here's me complaining about lack of drops...

The lack of extended stash means I can't hoard everything like I did before,
but the 4 tabs seem big enough for one character.

This part, to me, is interesting, 940 runs between anything of note, then 5 huge ones within 130 runs. That kind of feast or famine is what makes LK runs so amazing yet so masochistic to me.

Sorry if this was previously mentioned, but is this on Players 8? And there is no difference between Players 7 and 8 in terms of rune patterns, correct?

Well doing uber is a terrible pain in the arse........
First try, i forgot to mule over a raven. Couldnt kill duriel... wasted set.
2n try I crashed during loading screen....

@Foghorn Leghorn Correct, no difference between 7 & 8 - I'm running at P7. I have even double checked the paterns of the Ohms to make sure nothing weird is going on

The thing is it only ever takes one or two drops to turn it all around. Here's hoping for another hot streak...

My next 3 attempts at ubers went much better.
I didnt forget any important pieces of my smiter gear and duriel and izual were a piece of cake. Only lilith is scary if there are too many adds around.
Thank god they are always on the same stop of the map.
Uber mephisto is super easy with max light res. Using treashery proc and some light res charms to accomplish this.
Surprisingly uber diablo is the most dangerous out of the three. He summons alot of pit lords really fast and they hit hard. if they swarm you it gets really tough.

So out of my first 5 attempts I got 3 Torches:

11/20 Druid
16/18 Necro
15/11 Sorc

Iam using the Necro one atm because they give me much needed resistances.
I have to do some CS runs in between to stock up on rejuvs.
I must say the 1 point smite, 1 points fanatismus approach works really well. And iam very glad i didnt have to use a respec.
Now I can just farm some more keys as a hammerdin in case i dont manage to get a paladin torch on my next 5 trys.

Greetings, haven't had too much time to play lately... but, anyway, I kept running Vizier occasionally, and here are some updates/drops.

About 2 hours and a half after leveling to 94:

Lo (which almost makes me regret not being able to make griefs)

Then

Mal (which also almost makes me regret the same thing)

Then, about 3 hours after 94:

Unique War Boots! (which I didn't have a pair yet)

Well, then, after about 12 hours (seemed much longer to be honest) of stubborn grinding, this drops:

Cham! (which almost gave me a heartattack of joy)

Very happy with it! So, that means back to LK for (quite?) a while now. Good luck to all.

Btw, pretty sure there's an IK armor drop somewhere here but forgot to save where.

Been spamming Andariel on p3 with my MF gear on (200% exactly) in the hope of getting Ravenfrost, Highlord's, and Jalal's.

Ended up having my nearest to death experience thus far, purely out of laziness. Decided to try and fight Andy and a unique Zombie with Fanatacism at the same time... Turned out to be a pretty poor idea. Heard the noise of transforming back to human form on 1 hp at the same time as I mashed a full rejuv, then hit Save and Exit. Went into the new game with ~50% hp in human form. It was at least fairly exciting- I could literally feel my heartbeat in my ears!

Getting ready for the upcoming MF/RF tournament with my HC D2R only Blizzard sorceress!

Progressed quickly through Normal and NM.

I made some NM Mephisto runs, rushed to Act V, levelled at p8 Pindle runs till the early 70s, then did 5 or 6 Baal runs to get to level 77. I probably have to upgrade my gear for Hell though...

Currently I run this gear:

Thinking about switching Stealth for Smoke. Will cost me one FCR BP though. Need to find a 4 os Monarch soon as well as an elite 4os Polearm. Wouldn't mind a Skin of the Vipermagi or something like that...

My new laptop has a graphic RAM defect though, that is why running for gear is not great atm due to loading times from 30 to 45 sec on my old laptop... So I will probably do some careful questing instead until I get a replacement for the broken new laptop.

I'll probably use it as motivation to push Stevesy further, yes. He's actually just hit 98.25, I just haven't had the time to do a proper writeup yet.

I will run with my Paladin to get some exp in cs. I just hope i can get my torch before it starts. But didnt feel like playing the last couple of days so it will be close.

Sry for the double post but after not playing for 2 days the previous hour of playing has just been insane.

I started with my 4th real attempt at ubers and I almost died 2 times.
But I got rewarded with this:

yeeehaa. And even a decent roll. Now the MF tournament can start !

So after I got my torch I used my first respec. I put 10 points into resist fire to get +5 max resist and then I went to do a CS run to test out my new damage. 11k Hammer Damage now. Feelsgoodman.

And look what I got from the first run with my shiny new torch:

No idea what to do with it tho. Mabey hope for a 2nd one and try @ffs dual dream avenger for nihla.

I hope I didnt use up all my good luck before the MF tournament xD
