This is obviously a sign that you need a party to protect you...Oliver's Army...
Terrible news, mate. You're braver than I am - the moment I saw a Might aura on Zealots moving faster than they normally do, I would have ran like a coward, madly popping Full Rejuvs, and never entered that hut to begin with.
Well the Basin wiki is down (again) so I can't confirm it, but iirc a bolt's damage is [mlvl/2]*2-1.
Rocky Waste its area level is 75, so then a bolt would deal [75/2]*2-1=73. No clue if these bolts are increased by the P#, but if they are, then it should be 125%, so 91.25 per bolt. Then after 75 lightning resistance it would be ~22.8125 per bolt.
And you took 1,738 damage in a single frame.
Where did all that damage come from?
War Cry is a nova-like skill after all and it shoots out a massive amount of missiles, so I figured maybe all those dozens of War Cry missiles that "hit" the Scarab all triggered a bolt.
Well, just a though..
Anyway, excuse the nerd talk, rip mr Singer :<
Kitteh said:Fruit and I went over this at the time, but we never really were sure that it explained the amount of damage. I had 75% light resistance. The damage per bolt is (I think) [mlvl/2]*2-1, so 91.25 per bolt at P8, down to 22.8125 per bolt due to resistance. I haven't checked this myself actually, but Fruit noticed me take 1,738 damage in a single frame. War cry is pumping out pretty quickly and hitting 3 of the 4 beetles that are present.
I just thought; Lightning enchanted (beetles naturally have this mod, hence the bolts) sends out a number of bolts equal to the mlvl (75). I hit the beetles 3 (possibly 4, not sure if that last one hits before I die, so say 3) times, so that is 675 bolts released altogether = 15,390 damage. Not all of those hit me of course, but a lot of them did. P.S. This isn't even a boss pack![]()
It makes sense, but i still dont get it. Where do you find that the amount of charged bolts are equal to the mlvl? i found that the damage increase with Monster level, but not the amount of bolts.
Anyway is good to know that Beetles can rip a barb like that, but what a painful experiment...
Perhaps @onderduiker knows? The [mlvl/2]*2-1 might not apply - maybe beetle bolt damage is calculated differently from LE bolts. Regardless, I highly doubt a bolt will ever deal hundreds of damage, so there must be something funky going on here. Perhaps a crit could deal >100, but that still wouldn't explain this death.
If you play the clip back frame-by-frame, you seem to die in 3 frames. But in the first frame your merc takes a bunch of the bolts, so that frame tells us little. In the second frame you indeed take 1,738 damage (you go from 3,132 to 1,394 hitpoints), then in the last one you lose the remaining 1,394.
As for the amount of bolts, that's just a static 8 per trigger. But my theory was that for each War Cry missile (of which you shoot many dozens per cast), collision with the beetle triggers 8 bolts. And since you're standing so close to the beetle, maybe 2 out of each 8 bolts hit you.
So let's say War Cry shoots 100 missiles, of which 20 hit make contact with the beetle, it triggers 20 rings, of which 2 out of each 8 bolts hit, so that would be 20*2 = 40 bolts in your face.
War Cry of course forces monsters into stun/hit recovery, which in the beetle's case triggers the bolt retaliation, so maybe there just isn't any server-side delay on the trigger, while perhaps there is a delay on the client-side rendering of the trigger?
But yeah, just theories, just thinking out loud.![]()
Ohhh, I didn't realise that WC shoots dozens of missiles per cast... It only hits once though, right?
