As I mentioned in Sarge's Pat thread, due to the fun I had making him I immediately went out and started a Fury druid to see how he fared with my current weapon of choice.

He would follow the same rules as his brothers, he would be twinked with staves in the same family as the Archon Staff and once he reached it, the eBotD would be his only method of attack. I also had fun with the dual-barb aspect of Sarge's playthrough, so I went all wolves this time. Dire wolves for his summons, heart of WOLVerine (close enough!), and an Iron Wolf for his merc.

Other than that he was a prototypical Fury druid. Would he miss the Might aura from a Town Guard? Are Dire Wolves any good? Why does the Werewolf have 5 fingers but only 4 toes? First I'll do his stats, then we'll find out what I thought.

The Journey:
As with his two predecessors, the entire game was taken at /p8. Standard stuff, he popped envy jewels into everything, grabbed a merc in A3 and didn't look back achieving Slayer at 44. From there he plowed through NM, Pindled a bit to 69 for his big weapon and melted his way to Champion at 71. Into Hell it was a quick charm re-jig, enough Vit for 2k health and the rest into strength, and off he went.

A1 went by in a blur of fur, and A2had unllechables (predictably) complicate things a bit. It did, however, give him a chance to break out Atma's as a PI solution:

A fully charged Feral Rage almost feels like cheating, as even a pretty beefy Sszark couldn't hurt him, despite being accompanied by another Fanat-enchanted, extra strong pack of spiders. Some fun though in the jungles, as the smaller monsters provided poison novas galore:

It's just a shame they don't do any meaningful damage, at least not on /p8. A quick Black Hack sighting, and we started needing Atmas more and more against guys like these. The fifth act things started to slow down a bit as the /p setting caught up with the wolves and merc. They were fine in bottleneck situations, but they melted in open combat. Here is a (very) rare shot of them holding their own, at least briefly, against the Ancients.

Cool to see the whole group engaged, but as I said, it didn't last long. Steve was more than capable enough on his own though, so it was quickly through to Baal, and Patriarch.

Some Thoughts:
- Atma's Scarab; it triggered just enough for it to be considered useful, and worked decently against PI packs like Locusts and Ghosts as well as any PI bosses we came across. It's a touch unreliable, and by no means a true substitute for Lawbringer/Reapers, but it definitely served its purpose well enough to be a success in my eyes.
- Dire wolves; not a fan. I think a big issue was that they don't seem to scale well at high /p settings. I'm sure they would be manageable lower than /p8 but I just spent way too much time re-casting and trying to pull them back. I far prefer the Grizzly in every way.
- Iron Wolf; bleh. Yes, the freezing helps situationally, but he basically spent most of the journey sauntering along behind Steve trying to catch up. Either that or taking a dirt nap. Speaking of dirt naps, that was actually when he was most useful! His Nightwing's is borrowed from Eleanor and has a die facet in it, so when he poofed it actually chilled the packs and helped Steve decently. Still, at 50k gold a pop I wouldn't recommend that strategy. I'm glad I took him for the theme, but that's about it.
- I had CtA on switch but I didn't really use it as it's too much of a pain to un-shift just to cast it every few minutes. I did use it when I know a big fight was coming though, and the extra life it gave to Steve was nice, but ultimately not necessary.
- No deaths! Not surprising, considering how insanely powerful that staff is in the hands of a Fury wolf and the absurd life leech from Feral Rage when needed. It was basically hold right click and go, I hardly had to think about it even on /p8.
- I love this weapon. The fact that it could easily carry Steve through on /p8 without any real help from merc or summons is a testament to its power.
- Future plans? For Steve, retirement. For the staff, stay tuned...

And, BotD sept in the making? Is that you're first one you've made? I have been wondering what the most versatile base would be to make one in. Archon Staff looks like an interesting option.

Steve, the STAFF-Meister himself, has one important battle left to fight. Being a werewolf, of course he needs to put the pesky BEAR into his place, and there's only one way to settle it down at the druid club. As the crowd clear the floor to make way for an epic showdown, Devak groans in despair and disbelief from the bar.

Ding Ding Ding! Seeing as I've already completed 3 characters now, and have a 4th (Necro) going, I figured it only made sense to finish them all. ;) I'll put up a proper thread in the coming days most likely.

First and only so far, yeah. The Archon staff is interesting as a base because of the virtually non-existent stat requirements. I originally made it because it was a super-stylish dream back from the .09 days I wanted to finally fulfill, but it turns out it's super effective and versatile in general.

I'm sure there are technically better options damage-wise (eth elite polearms?), but in terms of a stylish 2-hander that can easily be equipped by any class it certainly holds its own

Not gonna lie I considered it out of sheer frustration with the guy. But then it felt like it strayed a bit too far from the point of taking him, and in the end I just couldn't bite the bullet of those runes on such a pathetic merc.

Wait, am I the only one using a merc for acts I and II? Slap envy gear on them 🤷‍♀️
I worded it poorly, but definitely used them until I got to act 3.
