Sorry to here that. Have a few drinks here at the bar, and a water in between.
I forgot the whole reason I came back here. Path of Exile...
Last season I played was Delve, which was quite a few seasons ago. But decided to give it a go again, installed an 80GB patch or update, and tried to log in. Since the Delve season, they implemented this stupid security "feature," that if you reset your modem and your IP changes, you need to go to your email and enter a new code.
This is to stop someone else logging into your account, so you get notified (and re-enter a new code,) every time you try playing from a different connection/location (I change connections quite a bit, and don't mind the occasional code.) But, we also reset our modem daily, and so my IP changes daily. I have to re-enter a NEW code from a NEW email, every single day...
Now, they can disable this feature. But, they won't tell me how many security steps I have to follow to verify I own the account, and won't disable it until then. I have to tell them the state/city I created the account from and my current IP address. Somehow this verifies that I own my account, or is one of multiple steps. My public IP changes daily anyway, and actually lists the incorrect state.
So, I logged in, deleted my old characters, and replied with a statement saying that the account was now empty, no characters, no items, and that I want them to delete my account.
We'll see whether they can delete my account without verifying that it's my account, but won't disable their own stupid anti-IP-change code feature.
Edit: Ok, they still want my IP address. Does anyone know how my public IP address, which changes daily, can verify my account? IE: If my account was hacked, and my email was hacked, couldn't they just log in, and send their own IP? They also want to know where the account was created, but don't find that a common request in account recovery/verification.
