Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

So as a general consensus if I just leave the gold in the atma bank and don't use the feature any more, all is well? That's too bad because I stock pile gold from farming meph and pindle, and wanted to gamble it all away some day. Oh wellz..

I did not mean it exactly that way. I only meant that you should keep the gold on characters and not use the bank. Leave the bank alone until you are ready to gamble. Then gamble until you are out of gold on the character, or almost, then transfer as much as ATMA will let you to the character. Then gamble some more and repeat the process until your bank is depleted. The bank is only 'broken' for 1.13c and 1.13d as far as I know.

I do not use ATMA anymore I only know about the flaw in GoMule, I assumed it was the same for ATMA. If there is anyone reading this that knows for sure about ATMA, 1.13 and the gold bank being 'broken' OR a work around you found when using GoMule or ATMA please lend your voice. Thanks.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Never checked it myself, but since I have not seen any reports of it not working for 1.13d and I'm sure a few have updated at this point to 1.13d it might just be your computer. Please tell us the symptoms.

Has ATMA worked on the computer you are using now before you updated?
Which OS are you running? Win7/vista or XP?
Are you getting any errors when you try to run ATMA?
Does GoMule work? If you do not want to install Java I'm not saying you have to, just checking.
You are closing Diablo 2 or at least going to the opening screen before using ATMA. ATMA and Diablo 2 are best run separately so you do not run the risk of duping items. As long as you go back to the screen that has buttons for Single Player and b.net you are safe to run ATMA and transfer items.
You are trying to run ATMA only for Single Player? Just checking since this is your first post. These programs only work in SP never on b.net

Through my experience helping here I have a feeling it is because your computer is running Win7/vista. If you are using Win7/vista your saves are probably in a different area than you think if you are not running Diablo 2 as an administrator.

If you cannot find your saves I suggest doing this: Show hidden files and folders in the folder options dialog box. You may also need to show system folders. Once these box(es) have been checked click Apply and go to this folder. Change Login_Name to what you use when you log into the computer.
C:\Users\Login_Name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Pro gram Files (x86)\Diablo II\save

In the folder above are your actual saves. I will not bore you with the details, but suffice it to say it's part of windows protection features introduced in windows vista and continued in win7.

If your saves do not change in the game, try running ATMA as an administrator and see if that helps.

To save yourself the hassle of this windows 'feature' I'd suggest installing Diablo, ATMA and GoMule, if you have it, into another folder than Program Files. Say C:\Games Good luck.

I use windows XP, ATMA starts up i just cant add the d2s file which is my sorceress, an error comes up at the bottom which says unknown version or something and it just doesnt do anything, I can find the character save file it just wont add to ATMA, I have used ATMA before and am only using it for single player

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

If you can post the specific error text, we might have better luck figuring it out.

I'm on 1.13d, and I tried loading a character I've played since updating without problems. XP is the version of windows without the funky permission problems, so I'm guessing it's something specific to your setup.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Also, you should make a back up of both your D2 saves as well as your stashes (I would just back up the whole ATMA folder)

Then you could try to figure out what is going on without worrying about anything happening to your stuff. You might need to reinstall ATMA or try loading a previous working version of the character etc.

You could try to make sure you are using the latest version of ATMA

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Don't know if it's been mentioned before, but here is a tip for those of you who are running under Ubuntu with Wine and using RWM.

You don't have to run from terminal like the guide suggests. From Applications menu just find your D2 starter, right click and make launcher on desktop. Right click on your launcher and add "-direct -text" at the end of the Command line. Now you have got a nice shortcut that will start with RWM.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I would like to know if I am safe to play useast battle.net when I have gomule installed?

If not, how do I delete gomule?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm trying to install RWM.

When I choose where to extract the files to, I choose my diabloII folder, yet once I complete the extraction it doesn't seem to do anything at all. There's no folder, nothing.

I'm completely nonplussed, help me please

MIght be some kind of windows permission issue or something :dontknow:

I'd just extract them to the same location that the zip file is and then manually move them over to the Diablo folder.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Yeah, the manually moving over worked. However, now I'm having problems with getting GoMule to work D:

It won't let me save, and gives me this error when I start it up (which I imagine is why I can't save with it):

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Which OS are you running? If it is Win7/vista I always like to tell the user to do themselves a favor and reinstall Diablo 2 somewhere other than the Program Files folder. Somewhere like C:\Games\Diablo should be fine. The reason is starting with Vista, and continuing into Windows 7, Microsoft decided to implement some security features to help keep certain folders, like the Program Files folder, safe. Windows now does not allow you to make any changes to these folders unless you are running as an administrator. To keep some compatibility if you run Diablo 2 as a non admin your saves are located in another folder, look below for the folder. That is why you cannot save. As for the error if it does not go away try updating your java to the latest and putting GoMule in the same folder, like C:\Games\GoMule

Saves for a non admin account (change UserName to what you use to login):
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\save

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Yes, but does GoMule have admin rights as well? Are you using an admin account as your login or are you right clicking and selecting run as an admin? GoMule needs to be able to change the files inside the Program Files folder. I do not believe there is an option to run GoMule as an admin that way. I do not feel like installing Java to test it out as I no longer play, but if I have to I will for you. Good luck.

P.S. I am wondering if MS also decided that only the program that created the folder inside the Program Files folder can manipulate it. I gave up playing Diablo 2 shortly after running into these types of problems. I solved most, if not all, by installing else where. Hopefully someone else will come by and help as well.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Ahhh, I see. I tried to get GoMule running as an admin, no such luck.

Can I simply move my D2 files, or do I really need to reinstall it into a new area?

edit/ moving it didn't work. Also, I can no longer even open characters, but the original time I started up GoMule it was working fine, except for the saving feature. Actually, it was able to save a stash, just the character kept all of its items as well...

But now I can't open GoMule correctly (it just looks wrong/different when I start it up, plus the error message), and I can't even open up any character.

When reinstalling D2, all I have to do is copy my save files and stash them until I can paste them back in, right?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

If you have patch 1.12a or later then moving the entire D2 folder should work. You will have to update your short-cuts though. For previous versions I'd suggest backing up your save folder and then reinstalling. Your stash, according to your post, is full of dupes unless you tossed the items on the ground in game and left them there. If you made sure not to create any dupes make a backup of your stash as well.

Where are you running GoMule from? Try extracting the entire zip to the desktop in a folder and see if the error goes away. I know that I've helped others with the same error, but I cannot exactly remember what I suggested other than they did not extract GoMule properly or were running it from inside the zip.

The forums are going through an update and all the old information has this when I try to search for the reason for the error.
The Forums will be offline for a little while we carry out a major forum upgrade. Be back as quick as possible.
Once that is lifted, if it ever is, I will be able to search through the old information.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Goodness, I'm dying here. When I tried moving the DiabloII folder, for some reason it lost its expansion capability, and only its expansion capabilities...so strange. (When I moved it back it was fine). I'm going to try reinstalling after I back up my save folder...rage rage rage.

Thanks for being so patient with my problems!
