I would rather focus on a few TZ and try to "master" them (locating boss packs etc) than farming LK for Infinity AGAIN :)
It will just be of the order tens of hours, not hundred of hours as in LoD days

I also think act 1 TZs where devilin/carvers are the only fire immunes are ok too for a "finite" (not infinity) fire-sorc.

You're right that might be the most efficient way to do it, but I guess optimizing a character and getting all the best gear without thinking is part of the appeal to me--not just getting it to 99. Paradoxically, farming all the gear would probably make me want to play the character more (since I put more hours into it) but we'll see if I'll actually get around to it. I find LK pretty easy as I've farmed an Enigma's worth of runes twice in LK and it wasn't too bad. If I'm being realistic, I think I'd probably prioritize just getting CtA, Flickering Flame, and Infinity. Then if some Los and a Jah drop while farming TZs along the way, "Phoenix" might get made.
 
I agree with @drmalawi I wouldn’t run for Infinity before leveling, and if runes for Infinity drop while leveling all to the better. With Sunder and some -eFR%, it should definitely be possible to get decent XP toward 99, at least based on my 99er pure Blizz Sorc. Static and Fire Damage, and skipping really high FR enemies post Sunder seem plenty workable.

But if the joy of the journey is being optimally geared before plowing into XP grind, go for it!!
 
@drmalawi If your resists aren't maxed: Um. Or Cham for CBF, to avoid wearing Ravenfrost. It deals cold damage, so it will shatter corpses 20% of the time, reducing the number of corpses for horking. However, I don't really care about that for my barbs. Shael might be an option as well if you reach the next FHR breakpoint then. Or a nice jewel with allres or fhr. I wouldn't put a %ed jewel in, as it will go to off-weapon %ed and 40% on top of let's say 600% won't do much.
 
Not disagreeing with @krischan but there is another factor to consider. Arreats is a level 42 item. What do you put in it before your Ber or Cham? That's especially true if you are running untwinked. Maybe a PTopaz?

I have two Arreats that I socketed years ago before I had really good gear or high Runes or Runewords. Both got 40% ED jewels with a second modifier. Back then Fortitude was a dream. I remember that when I did the first one my armor was a Lionheart. So adding 40% ED to the 20% of Lionheart was a big deal at the time. Of course that means that the Arreats turns into a level 58 item.

I wouldn't put many thoughts into the issue, as it isn't much of a problem to level up from 42 to the level at which you can put Ber or Cham into it, but unsocketing costs just a Hel rune and a TP scroll. Perhaps an IAS jewel or shael rune or whatever else might be useful for a short amount of time?

UncleZod, my WW barb with BotD in a GPA, has Um in his Arreat's, a not that expensive socketing and I'm not going to replace it with Cham. I'm lazy with horking anyway, so I don't really need to get rid of Ravenfrost. Ber would never be an issue at all, it's way too useful for other purposes. UncleZod can be happy that he got that BoTD, I could as well have named him UncleDreamingOfZod.
 
I have only one Arreats Face at the moment. Checked my mat&pat threads and at first it had an ort rune. That was swapped for a jewel of fervor for a frenzy barb with attack speed needs.

I am sitting at 9 Ber runes now, no idea what to do with them, after all I have enigma, infinity and beast. I was thinking about cubing up to make 1-2 Jah's but that also seems like waste
 
Chains of Honor is always a good way to spend a Ber. It's seldom discussed, but Wrath is a great weapon for a straferzon. And the one that I keep wanting to make is Destruction.

Each Infinity needs 2 Bers and I have so many characters who would benefit from it, in particular since we have Sunder Charms, so I would never upgrade any of them. Besides, Enigma isn't that much needed in single player because of fixed maps. Only my Mosaic assassin has one because it makes it much easier to stay charged up, not because of easier movement or tele-stomping. BTW, it was my second Jah that went into Enigma, the first went into Faith because the physical bowezon is my favourite character.

And yes, Last Wish has a terrible cost efficiency.
 
Not much I should imagine. These moves are always a pain but necessary to keep costs down and the forums/site alive. It's tough market right now and keeping servers online gets harder and harder each year. My credit card is not happy!
