1.07 News, Info and Gossip

+50 combo LK/Bazaar runs:
Running total: 280 Runs
Craft-able runes - 24
Jewels - 17

No real spectacular crafts yet. Maybe ~3 greater crafts, and 0 amulets so far.

You can see rune drops aren't really outpacing jewel drops by very much. If I was being selective about what crafts to try, I'm sure jewel production would surpass runes.

If anybody else is doing LK, I hit 4x super chests and ~8 poppables along my racking route. Very minimal monster kills (<5 per run). Most jewels are coming from chests/pops.

Finally moved 3 sorces from 1.00 to 1.07. One of them has a 100% stable berserker rack (I can even make mistakes, it doesn't matter). This dropped:

On the up side, my first ring roll with a sapphire got me a 24 mpk ring.

Hm. That recipe uses pgems, right? Do pgems have an ilvl after being cubed or are they automatically considered "simple" items. And even if they are, would their ilvl be 1 after cubing for some other reason? (perhaps the ingredients, or just always)

Even if pgems have a (temporary) ilvl like runes when they drop, it doesn't seem to affect the output of that formula... I farmed 3 pgems by partying up three rushee's and collecting their normal hellforge... rolling with the 3 resulting pgems still resulted in an ilvl 1 item. The rune (an eld) definitely did get an ilvl, as I used it with my lvl99 crafter to craft a very mediocre pair of caster boots that were ilvl 99

By the way, I was wondering the other day, any idea what kind of amounts of ingredients you had to gather to pull out the items for Spatha_Lux?
@Grape Spatha's gear took literally thousands and thousands of attempts... I'm not sure you could do it anymore, I had the advantage of doing most of it back when the trade forum was active and had several very active and productive runners who did at least some 1.07 (Frozzzen, Fabian, Nulio, Nagi, Jimsfriend, Greebo, Zemaj...several others) Collectively they traded me mountains of runes, jewels, and bases for my efforts... I couldn't have done it without them.

WoRG! Thank you so much for you awesome guide!
@Fruit Thanks, I was really happy to finally see what the affix formula is, and was very happy with how accurate the guide was when I doublechecked it against the formula:D I'm thinking it might be time for v2.0 of the guide now that you've given me the formula and discovered how to get high ilvls.

BTW, I checked, and 1.08 is indeed the same: runes have an ilvl that adds to the crafting level if used in the session they dropped in. 1.08 also has many more crafting formulae, so any rune El - Mal (except Thul) is a crafting rune...

@Fruit gems don't get an ilvl ever, right? Thinking about reroll magic item which sets ilvl to 1.
This was kinda already answered by pharphis and WoRG, but just to clarify, the magic item re-roll recipe has it's own (silly) specific problem, because all three level-related columns are set to 0 in the cubemain.txt file, which means it skips using any ilvl, it skips using clvl, and it also skips setting a fixed level. So it just ends up 0, after which the cube function sets the ilvl to the minimum of 1. I'm afraid we can't get around this one. :p

But in case anyone was curious, gems do initially get an ilvl just like runes do, but I don't think it's ever used. (The cube function appropriately skips gems.)

Edit: And "fun fact", the rare item re-roll recipe that uses a SoJ ends up using the ilvl of the SoJ in stead of that of the rare item. :> The socketing recipe leaves the ilvl intact though (not that it matters in that case).

Could a rare item from 1.07 ever be the best possible item for its slot? I really don't see it? Maybe rare mpk ring, at best...
Are the resistances on boots still out of 50 in 1.07? What about the crazy dex and strength on them? I think boots are an easy rare that can be best in slot. I was thinking some rare amulets could have insane stats as well but I may be wrong.

I plan on letting a character leech his way to level 99 in the cow level sometime after the RFL or maybe in-between. So my question is: Who's the queen of cows in 1.07? Cold sorc or LF Amazon? If it's the latter, then what's the typical gear for her to be able to clear the cow level in a full game? I have an ethereal Titan's, but not sure how viable the 1.07 version is.

Or would it be faster to bring the Amazon and the other character forward to 1.09b and use the player64 command there?

I think LF amazon is faster, because crushing blow works with LF and it scales to player count as well IIRC.

cats eye
arkaines valor
crafted javs, ctc amp, 400ed, 40ias, replenish
LoH or crushing blow gloves
mavinas belt for frw
40frw boots

the rest is really up to you.

in 1.09 LF doesnt carry crushing blow, so youre playing a 1.13ish LF in 1.09. Self multiboxing in 1.07 is quite tedious, so p64 in 1.09 or even p8 might be preferable. I think cows gave more exp in 1.09 than they do in 1.13 so it might be faster.

Hm, guess I'll have some racking, crafting and farming to do first. Only thing I have of these is Mavina's belt. I was sure I had another LoH, but I guess I only had one and brought it forward. I have a Balrog Skin rack on one of my sorcs, which I haven't run in ~9 years or so. Hopefully I'll find the way again. So Arkaine's Valor shouldn't be too far out of reach. Crafted Javs are probably more difficult to get. These mods seem more on the high-end side. Where's a good place to get Cat's Eye? Been a while since I MFed in 1.07. LoH can drop from Bloodraven, right?

1.09 is probably less tedious, but given that I have no characters or items there, it might still be easier to do it in 1.07. 1.09 is supposed to be the easiest/quickest patch to get to lvl 99, but from what I've read, 1.07 isn't that much slower.

For safety/budget reasons you could also use knockback gloves (cleglaw's has this iirc) and it will basically interrupt every single cow's movement since it is also carried by bolts lol (slowing effect, too)

I don't know about 1.07, but in 1.09d it took 171 runs to get from level 90 to 99 on p8 cows with my hybrid javazon.
