On these forums, this is the last thread I remember that discussion came up and at the time was one of the sources on which I based my decision as to what to make Faith in. Further sources I consulted are here, here, and here. But there are a few calculations in the first link that are a good basis for a comparison. Don't want to go too much OT here, see spoiler below for the relevant calculations in the first post of that thread and comments.These are the numbers given in the thread.
Faith GMB, lvl 13 Fanatacism, lvl 18 Might, lvl 16 Pride (worst case)
(184.5 + 55)(1 + 4.00 + 3.00 + 2.1 + 2.85 + 2.54) + 30 + 120 = 3,859

Assumed are seven +10 dmg GCs, War Traveler's, Raven and a 45% IAS helm, and I agree that these are very reasonable and "neutral" gear pieces (though of couse not ideal in every individual setup).

- These numbers are actually comparing 8fpa Faith to 7fpa WF. So you need to add a flat +14.29% to all WF numbers.
- It assumes a 45% IAS helm but with naked 15% IAS jewels (see explanation before the calculations). However, the second stats on those matter quite a bit. Assuming a perfect scenario with a 45/120 helm to go with a max WF, this changes the given WF number to 3924. When accounting for the 7fpa increase of 14.29%, the figure is 4485. As for the Faith setup, when adding perfect IAS/max dmg jewel numbers for jewels in such helm, this would put the (best case) Faith setup at 4560. Closer, but still a bit higher, no?
- No. The assumed 400 dex is way too low, a high level Bowazon should reach 500 without much difficulty. When adding 100 dex in the above calculations, WF is at 4903 and already beats Faith, which is at 4821. Also 500 dex could still be considered relatively modest, many go dex only. The more dex you add, the more clearly WF beats Faith. At a very high amount of 600 dex (I couldn't reach it tbh), it's 5322 (WF) vs 5083 (Faith). That's in each case with a best case Faith, best case Pride and +10 GCs in inventory. The worst case Faith setup would be much further behind, same with damage vs Demons.
Oh and of course if you're talking 1.07 hax damage charms, that might be a different story.

It's very cool to continue seeing characters joining the fun well over a year after this started. I'm especially looking forward to following the progress of the zealot, bowazon, Fishymancer, and (of course) the trapper. Fun to see some different builds, which will cause some diversity in leveling approaches.
But especially after my 6 weeks away, I'm with @Kitteh -- it will take me a little while to get up to speed and remember whose character is which.
I hope to have an update sometime tomorrow, as long as Hiatus' operator doesn't do anything dumb.

@ffs haha I like how it drops when we’re talking about it. I had one from MFO as well, pretty sure that was my first on SP.
And in regards to the calculations, they weren’t calculated with full GCs and the GMB Faith is missing ED/AR potential from base which is a noticable difference with all that ED. I also don’t think KB is mandatory on SC and with MS you kill everything off screen lol. You can get 7 FPA with GMB with 85-90% pierce.
E: also Shadow Bow Faith still beats WF with the right charms IIRC if you’re that set on keeping Razortail.

Well, Acala the Pure Vita Barb trudges onward.
When last I updated I finally hit Normal Pindle. Only a couple of Pindles after posting, I got a nice high damage rare for the merc, but sadly the strength requirement prevented me from using it. Then about 3 Pindles later boom... the Kelpie Snare drops. It's garbage tier at non-eth and only 146% damage but it was a complete godsend. I ran Pindle from 32-45, and got all kinds of nice but not that super special upgrades. Marginal improvements. So I went ahead and finished off Normal, thanks to the merc and his wonderful slow stick.
Then Nightmare. Oh man, nightmare. It started out ok. I was prepared to start slow, having many moons ago taken a Bowbarian from Normal to Nightmare and realizing Bowbarian can't kill anything in NM. And I was doing fine till late Act 1, when suddenly the lack of DPS became a glaring weakness.
Without any easy source of strength, this Pure Vita barb is hurting for fresh weapons. I didn't mention it before, but I'm doing this as if it was a pre respec run, so I've locked myself into Axes. Vendors aren't much help as they tend to sell better weapons that I can't use with my low strength, so I'm mostly limited to lucky drops, and as far as weapons go I have had no lucky drops. Right now I am simply my mercs tank. I take my meaty body and throw it at enemies desperately trying to keep their attention long enough for the merc to kill them lol. And as a big meat shield with low damage and poor life leech I have a serious drinking problem.
In act 3 I got a bit lucky with the IK helm dropping. It's not a super great item, but it came with a slightly below average 32% MF and I threw two P.Topazs in there. Is better than the junky 30%MF circlet I had before. I also got a lucky 3% ml, 3% ll, 16% MF set of gloves, although with my paltry damage all the benefit I got out of that thus far is being able to switch out a weapon with ml on it that I was stuck using because of no other ml sources.
Acala has now made it through Act 3 and stands at the door of NM Mephisto. This will likely be Acala's life for a while. First order of business will likely be to make a Strength runeword weapon for some crushing blow, because NM Mephy will likely be unbearable without some type of damage from the barb. Then I can hopefully make reasonably quick runs and will have to upgrade nearly every item I currently have on right now lol....

It has been a tough week! Salome the level 94 Blizz Sorc decided to stick with LK runs for a bit, build her high rune wealth and make a few runewords. All to the good.
But every time I found a rune I had to fight myself not to rush to the SPF and post it! And while I still get excited by high runes, a 99 thread probably isn't the place to share that excitement every single time. So, I toughed it out for a week (5 days) to avoid spamming the thread.
Anyway, this morning I started a set of runs and found a Gul almost straight away, and discovered I wasn't that excited by it. Didn't take me long to realise that my stretch of LK runs was just about over. Probably also had a bit to do with working out that I still wanted 3x Ber, 1x Lo and 2x Ist to make all the runewords I wanted ... which would require a much bigger investment in time.
So, what did I find since the last post?
3xPul, 1xMal, 1xIst, 3xGul, 1xVex, 1xOhm, 1xSur, 1xBer.
That was probably between 300-500 LK runs per day for 5 days
And, yes, there are pics:
I didn't get a shot of the Ber because it dropped from a Tree Lurker that the merc decided to go off and kill while I was picking up some drops from another chest. When I moved over to the next chest (where the merc was) I hit alt at the same time as clicking on the chest, saw the random Ber already lying on the ground directly under my mouse, and picked it up instead of opening the chest ... all a bit confusing at the time. Given the Tree Lurker's pals were still around I decided not to redrop the rune to take a screenie.
So, that pile of runes allowed me to make:

So, no XP progress (probably negative progress due to a couple of deaths while mucking around with Pindle). Will take a bit of a break from LK and do some AT runs as there are a few items I'd like to find before heading to Trav. Still getting around 600K XP per run in AT so that will get the XP bar moving along again as well.

For GMB Faith, neither ED from base nor full dmg charms inventory will change the result at higher dex values. However the break-even point will be higher at a bit over 500 dex. Of course in PvM nobody would actually run with 10 GCs and no cube so that's rather theoretical anyway. Adjusted numbers:

(EDIT: Again this shows how close these setups are, changing a bit of the surrounding parameters in particular with individual "actual" gear will put one over the other at any time. But you are right about Shadow Bow at 7fpa, it can beat WF also at higher dex values. Same for Diamond Bow which is just 0.5 lower avg dmg than Shadow but leeches more consistently. For these reasons I've made my (first) Faith in a Diamond Bow so I preserve the option to use it on the Amazon or other chars at a later point. But these bows beat WF only in scenarios that are rather unrealistic, though I'm too lazy to rerun the numbers now. I've calcuated it for my own Bowazon several times. I actually have a lot of stuff for Bowies, but the conclusion always was that with the gear available to me and my charm setup (e.g. not full dmg inv, in favor of actual running) in practice I will always have higher damage with WF. Regarding knockback and ML, these make a very significant difference in gameplay, IMO much more so than any of the Faith stats. Also 100% Pierce is a massive difference over some ~90%. Razor is non-negotiable unless for some niche type of specific runs, this wouldn't be a discussion otherwise as GMB Faith would clearly be superior.

It's been a relatively quiet p8 run through Normal (just one jumpscare early into Act 3 with a crowd of midgets desperate for a hug...). Got all waypoints except for the Great Marsh - it branched out in my map from the path to Travincal, so it wasn't necessary to go through it. I'll come back for it some time later.
All quests done, no item imbued so far (I'll accept suggestions ).
Runes have been scarce (not a single "Tal" dropped so far, which delayed "Stealth" and "Edge"). Currently using a Death's Guard for the "Cannot be Frozen" (I don't need the extra slots yet, and I like the set overall - even though it's not technically oriented for a Necro, I'd like to complete it for posterity. Deeeaaaatthhhhh...) and a Manald Heal (+7% mana leech / +5 replenish). Resists are high enough to keep me alive when something gets through my wall of loyal skeletons, but not maxed.
Onward we go.

Mercy didn’t find her first Arachnid’s until after 98.1, for Hiatus it was around 98.45, so I guess I should plan on Phaedrus finding his on the last Diablo run before he hits Ancients to ping 99.
But this was a significant upgrade (over TGods, which she’d been using for +strength), mainly because she went for the 86 FHR breakpoint with Sandstorm Treks. She dropped two 6% MF charms for 2 crimson FHR SCs and these rare gloves to make up fire resists lost from Aldur’s boots:
Her magic find actually increased due to the gloves. I really regret not making 86FHR work earlier, even if it had meant using 6FHR SCs in place of vita SCs – it’s been that big a difference in terms of safety, speed, and less tense runs. Overall, I’m sure the extra skill helps, but the FHR breakpoint is very noticeable when teleporting through and when the stray Ice Spawn gets to Hiatus when she’s spamming lightning at Nihl. I would definitely encourage anyone running Nihl with a Sorc (and probably any character) to figure out how to reach the 86 breakpoint.
That’s a lot of words about a belt, so how about other highlights from the ~51M of XP progress? First, there were a couple exciting moments and panicked S&Es, largely due to spawn combos like the ones @Grape recently encountered with his 99er. I had missed that post while on vacation and thankfully came across it just as Hiatus was getting back into runs. So I was primed to bail when witches spawned with Might or Fanatacism (or if there were lots of witches around the platform and the merc’s confuse didn’t trigger).
Second, this map spawn apparently really likes Mals, Guls, and Ohms. The rune finds: Mal #2, Mal #3, Ber, Mal #4, Gul #3, Ohm #2, Mal #5, Ohm #3, Gul #4, Ohm #4, Gul #5 (actually missed hitting Alt for the screenie, but there is a Gul on the ground), and Ist. A couple of those took some work to retrieve due to lots of vipers, but the Darksight helm she had in the body retrieval kit came in handy – swapping it to allow use of CoS charges took some extra time but was worth it for the safety.
Finally, the other finds that merited sceenshots were Halaberd’s Reign and Spirit Ward, which were both grailers for her -- even though it merited a screenie, there was so much junk on the ground that I missed the Halaberd’s
. Other notable finds were +1 skills Arkaine’s, another 23@ Mara’s, a second BKWB, Horizon’s, a 4/5 fire facet, eth Gorerider’s, 2 Ums, and another nice jewel:
Congrats to everyone on the good progress – keep it up! Progress for Hiatus will slow back down after the 4-day holiday weekend. But I think she’s back on track to finish before the end of the year. She still has Ancients, so a little more than 105M from Nihl to go!
