I've started outlining an SPF 99er compendium that I hope to write up once Hiatus finishes her journey. Along the lines @Kitteh suggests, there is a lot of really great knowledge and information that is spread across multiple threads that span dozens or more pages. I thought it would be cool to try to pull it together into one place.

Ceegee the zealot is 82. He's spent most of his life searching LK for a Ber rune to make a CoH. At this point I'm close to abandoning the grind and grinding some hell meph or baal to find myself a better weapon. I've been using my rare ettin axe until now, and even though it's great, It won't do for end game. I need to be able to run some better areas for xp, preferably areas that drop zod so I can get that BOTD
Instead of telling you guys what I have, I figured i'd might as well show you! Since I play Vanilla I can just show you guys my inventory/gear.

I want to replace the nats boots with gore riders, the sanders gloves with laying of the hands, and the bladesbuckle for a string of ears. That would help with damage and livability i'm sure.

I'm wondering if I should socket my G helm with the Ruby Jewel of Truth or the Scintilating Jewel of Carnage. I don't think I'll need res's so the 40 ED makes the most sense.
I'm also thinking of making a Doom if I can ever find a cham
or an exile.

or an exile.There's a quick rundown posted here, although I think I've retired him now. I do have a HC Barb at Act 2 NM that I want to Guardian untwinked on P8 only as well, perhaps I'll add him sometime in the future.
Anyways, updates! I'm sure this project as a whole is going to take quite a while to complete considering the time I have available to play but I'll keep giving it an effort and establish some kind of side project (most likely the Barb mentioned earlier) to keep from overdoing it on this one. No deaths to mention from 94-95 which was done exclusively with P8 Vizier/Infector and some unique/champ packs that spawned close to the seals. We had some close calls/merc deaths from Conviction spawning on Infector namely.I did try scouting the shrine along the way early on for XP shrine but it's just too time consuming to get cursed on the way to a pack, it's more efficient to just not stop at all. I plan to do some Nihlathak testing soon to check yield versus time spent per run as that will be my target a few levels from now.
Ding and Stats
Stats are a little messed up from upgrades but I'm holding that last respec for the lucky streak of Lightning skillers and Griffon's drop that is clearly going to happen any day now..

Drops/Upgrades
Of course after I invest my 2x Ber in Chains of Honors' for Chalan and myself a decent Infinity base drops. I burned 11x Insight sets without a proper roll unfortunately so I'm picking up the random Tirs/Tals and I'll try again soon. The Sur drop somewhere along the way puts me back 1/4 of the way to Infinity and I'm not opposed to going back to LK if the right base and lucky drops happen but it's very unlikely at this point. Blizzard is nice because you get to pump points into Static Field and you can snipe the whole Infector pack from a safe distance. I could be wrong but it seems you can somewhat manipulate where the pack spawns depending on where you are when the pack's spawn animation happens after hitting the seal.

Took the time to get a few quick levels for Araphel. No major updates for the gear: out of five broken shrunken heads I did manage to roll a decent one: +3 RS / +3 AD, so that's probably going to be the base for an initial Rhyme (I'd prefer a +3 SM along with that, but a fellow should count his blessings and move along.
). Got a low-end Hawkmail (109 def precisely), but the bonuses suit Ithera for now.
One (almost) hilarious anecdote: I did find one of my more "elusive" items so far (you know the ones that are supposed to be relatively easy to find, and yet you NEVER see them...?), and you're going to get a laugh of it; out of the many playthroughs I've had of this game, this is the first time I saw an Infernal Torch drop. Not on Meph, as statistics say it should, but on the area before Ancient's Way, inside a chest. I had to do a double take for expecting another Sander's wand, and when I saw the different base item, heart actually skipped a beat.
It's kind of that moment of surprise we still live for, y'know? Yes, I do have the other two pieces stashed in an old character, and yes, it's way past the point where it'd be useful, but finally completing it was an emotional milestone. So many freaking Isenharts, Tancreds, Vidalas and the like, but the first time I complete the Infernal Tools.
It's always the little things.

On that, still haven't found a better base and now half way to 98, so still no regrets whatsoever for making Infinity in that CV. Though I will burn the runes if a better base drops, I believe it will make a difference with a Delirium setup for running Nihl.
@Trapin' Nice going as well! That rare axe is quite something when playing vanilla, actually hard to beat without RWM. The unique weapons that beat it (stuff like Schaefer's Hammer, Astreon's, Stormlash) are not really obtainable by targeted farming and pretty rare, so there's just BotD basically. If you really want to go for that you'd have to run travincal like a mad man, and with sub-optimal gear that probably takes at least as long as getting to 99 with that weapon.

@ffs it’s just a matter of rolling a Thresher rack in LK, wouldn’t take long from there. I just don’t want to lose my current map (AT 1 teleport from WP with a good density, good LK, 2 RoF chests) without Griffon’s + Lightning GCs because I don’t think the respec is worth it prior to having those. If you’re rolling no socket ethereal bases CV has a 4 socket cap while Thresher/GT have 5/6 respectively. In other words, CV has a 50% chance of rolling 4 sockets.
@Trapin' If you’re looking for a cheap weapon upgrade, Crescent Moon has ITD and Static Field proc with decent ED for the cost of an Um rune.

Clvl 13 Static Field is 11.3 yard radius. That’s quite big. Considering you’re intending to level to 99 that means ideally seals or Baal minions for quite a while, each having big pack spawns. Short answer - yes.
Phase Blade is probably the most ideal base.

@Xul's Gull i know how you feel with the Infernal Torch drop. I had never found The Hand of Broc until very recently, and it should be relatively easy to find. But, after looking at my Flavie report, the only uniques I am missing in the normal and exceptional catagory are the TC3’s, which are kinda rare to find and even more so later in the game. Another one I’ve only found once a very long time ago was Biggin’s Bonnett, and yep it’s a TC3.
It does seem odd, but the fact we even want to find this stuff is cool. It could simply be for completion or using as twink gear. I do think it’s fun to use some of the low end sets early on just for kicks. Some day I plan on a normal Unique only character, but that’s after the rares and blues only characters and several other builds I want to try.
This stuff reminds me of the early days of D3 when people were crying about finding gear for classes other than what they we’re playing. THats were smart loot came from which is another layer of crap they added to the game that helped ruin it(IMO). Honestly I would rather the current devs just leave D2 alone. There is no way they would just improve the resolution and maybe make some quality of life changes. They would have to add things they think would help, and they suck at that.
