SPF Technical Support Thread

A bit of preamble: I've been away from D2 for a while, but I fired up gomule and d2 today and had a bit of fun with my zealbarb. I went and read all of my old mat/pat posts and noticed that there's some ... unfinished business.

I have an enchantress that's stuck at Hell Ancients, and I have half a mind to work on that.

I do have a problem though, D2 runs in a tiny window (which loses focus sometimes....). Are there any SPF approved/vetted mods that let the game run in a larger window or fullscreen? If I do get back into D2, I may want to trade again.

Thanks for any replies!

EDIT: To be clear, I don't mean to solicit mods that break any rules, but I'm still reading the newer forum rules and thought maybe someone could help me out and point me to an approved mod (or work-around) that solves my tiny window problem.

*Hoping to not get banned quite immediately.*

a) Rules 2.9 and 2.10. No other mods.
b) Why can't you run fullscreen? Check your shortcut - Remove "-w" if it is there.

so i've just had two random crashes - i'm only running RWM and 1.14b. i cant think of anything i've done to my pc but i get stuttery/lag and then d2 just becomes unresponsive and i have to close it with task manager.

my shortcut looks like this:
"D:\Games\diablo 2\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt

anyone think of anything obvious i should check?

A win update maybe? I had one yesterday, and while it didn't cause problems with the game this time around, I have had issues in the past after an update, making Diablo 2 unplayable.

cheers guys, i did the typical turning it on and off again and didnt have another crash that night. annoying though as i progressed from level 44-45 three times and lost some rune drops that disappeared after crashes :(

So I've noticed that the flavie built into gomule is tossing all the sparking mail (chain mail) uniques into the sparking skiller category. It also seems to ignore Acrobat's GCs. Can anyone point me to the file/lines or an update that would fix this? AFAIK I have the latest gomule release.

4 years too late. but I'll leave this here for people.

Earlier search attempts didn't lead me to this thread, so... some search keywords.

GoMule, Flavie, Flavie report, ignore, incorrect, missing, bug, Sparking Mail, Skiller, Lightning, lit skiller, Acrobat's, lit GC, skiller GC,

Solution.
1. In GoMule folder, locate 'standard.dat' file.
2. Open it up with notepad or any other editor.
3. Edit the Skiller section (lines 904 to 951) to include the words 'Grand Charm' after each skiller prefix.
- e.g. change line 907 (Bow and Crossbow,Fletcher's) to (Bow and Crossbow,Fletcher's Grand Charm).

Speaking of GoMule bugs, has anyone else noticed that items socketed with Hel runes or that have inherent 'requirements −X%' display inaccurate Strength and Dexterity requirements (too high). I wonder whether or not the calculation it is using is correct?

Can anyone help me with a strange issue I'm experiencing. I tested out the Glide wrapper and decided it wasn't for me as it felt like I was dragging my mouse through treacle and the colours popped a little too much. I restored everything to the default values and removed registry entries as well as removing the relevant files. However I'm getting the following issues:
  • Opening or closing the inventory/character/quest windows causes the mouse to jump across the screen
  • Applies to both windowed and full screen mode
  • Stuttery mouse movements especially inside the inventory/stash windows
It seems like Glide left some remnants that are causing issues but I don't know what they are.

I know it is possible that I'll need to reinstall D2, but I'd like to see if I can fix it without resorting to that.

Mouse popping across the screen is something I've read about Glide - and not using the -w tag with it.

Another thing I noticed is that the start command (-w -ns -3dfx and such) were not exactly in sync with the one found on the shortcut and the one found in the registry. New commands will be added to the registry; but not always correctly removed.

Try edit the registry key to the default and see if that helps.

iirc there's also a reset button on the Glide as well... i think.

Yes I used the reset button so technically I don't need '-w' since it should be 'gone'.

EDIT: Please can someone without glide check the default behaviour. When you open your character screen, does the mouse move to the side?

Pretty sure "native" windowed/full screen mode doesn't make the mouse jump every time you open the character screen, inventory, waypoint menu, etc.

I think this has something to do with how glide stretches the screen and is the only reason I play in fullscreen (1600x1200 with glide), but lower the screen resolution to avoid losing my eyesight.

No idea why you're stuck with it, but I'll double check the game when I get home.

I've been making some slow progress with my HC sept project but hit a wall last night. When loading the game its really sluggy and slow but it just freezes when i hit single player?
have never had this issue before. any suggestions?

*edit* an uninstall and re-install fixed the issue - a pain to redo the RWM mod but all sorted now
