Pricing Guide for D2R | Non-Ladder

Not open for further replies.
This Guide is off in multiple sections, i.e. Low to Mid Pala Torches are not going for HRs.
Who is actually paying a Mal for 20 Ral?

Everyone is taking d2jsp as a guideline. I would suggest to the OP to do so as well because this guide will screw a lot of new Players.

My advice is to NOT use this Guide and instead go on d2jsp, use the search function for whatever you wanna price check and convert the fg price into runes. For example: You got a 15/18 Pala Torch. You search for PTorches in the Trading section, you compare a few offers and set the fg value somewhere inbetween. In this case it will be around 600 fg. Ist Rune is at 200 fg. Vex is 600 fg. You can figure out the conversion from there. Now you go back into the Game knowing what it is worth and let someone make an offer. Sometimes they will make a better offer than your item is worth, most of the time not. Don´t get pressured into accepting low offers.
while your information may (or may not be true) this guide has served me well and is easy to follow. d2jsp is difficult to navigate and hurts my eyes to even look at with its outdated windows 95 look.

It is true and I had to painfully experience it. If you actually follow this guide when buying Items you will probably get ripped off hard. On the other hand try and sell a PTorch for a Sur or low Rune Packs for a Mal. Noone is buying it cause jsp sets the market.

Regarding d2jsp you just need to register and go to D2R Softcore Trading, then use the search bar to find the items. It takes a minute longer to learn but at least you are not losing with every Deal.

Thanks for this compelete guide, may i have your advice on some rare ring valuation?
Such as 10fcr, +some res, and life/mana/str? do you have a reference on this?
Need the full stats to give you an idea, but those are good stats to have on a ring

Thanks for the feedback. I will go back over the torches section this week.

Not everyone can spend the time to research multiple sources like d2jsp, Discord, etc - they just want a quick price and try to make a trade. For those players, I've made the disclaimer more prominent (re this feedback) but they are made aware that these prices are not real time values. I've been upfront about updating prices, I do them in batches (like torches or skillers) and then I'll tweak them if I find that prices have changed OR another user brings a price change to my attention. I really count on our members to let me know if something is off, and my very next step is to check that entry to look to see if it should be updated. Otherwise, I could honestly sit here for 12+ hours a day watching the market and changing values for each item. I wish I had that kind of time to make this the guide you envision, but it's just not possible to be done by a 1 man team.

I reject the assertion that "this guide will screw a lot of new players." Every day we have more and more price checks come through - we almost always get some positive feedback from these players. I know you aren't trying to knock the guide, but it is not a valid critique. Players use the guide for convenience exactly because they'd rather let someone else go to d2jsp, figure out the market and then figure out the fg exchange rate. Not to mention that they might accidentally be looking at old posts from 10 years ago with totally outdated prices. This is a casual trader's guide for players who want to make (or spend) a little currency and if they are interested in diving deeper then the method that you suggest is completely valid. I use d2jsp as a reference, I use Discord for research, and I use other platforms as well. I do all that, so that the casual player doesn't have to.

As always, if a player makes a PC post in this forum, I will get a fresh price if it's been a minute since prices have been updated. That way the new players can still use the guide for quick reference but if they want to double check their post is like a request for assistance - so they can get a volunteer price checker to give them a second opinion. I think this personal service that we offer is not readily available just anywhere and that's on top of a pretty decent price guide. The last thing we want is to 'screw' anyone: buyer / seller, newcomer / veteran - we just want to kill some demons, get some loot and hopefully get some better gear to kill more demons!

It is good that you will go back to the Torch section. Most of them havent had much value for weeks. I am just looking out for the new Players. I was/am a new Player and went to this guide frequently. One example, I accepted a good PTorch believing it was worth a Sur after checking the guide and I couldnt trade it for that value or anything close to it. I did my research after that and looking back at my Trades I lost a lot of value. I am at least one new Player that got screwed and I know it isn´t your intention. Good on the Players that left positive feedback making good trades but the reality is that this can seriously screw Players over when dealing with very rare Runes/Items.

If someone follows my advice they will get the most recent trades shown first on jsp. The hardest part is learning the conversion rate but that is maybe 10 minutes of work.

If you want postive feedback you can gladly buy the PTorch from me for a Sur ;)

EDIT: I would suggest adding to the Disclaimer that if someone deals with values starting at Vex Runes and higher that they should use other sources as well to be absolutely sure. Maybe an explanation on how to use jsp as jsp has the biggest impact on market values.

I really appreciate you sharing that. I'm looking to the future for ladder reset, and I've learned a lot from doing this guide - what worked and what didn't. I think there may be a different process in place for the future Ladder guide - like focusing on currency prices, getting high value items priced early, and then doing more frequent updates on a smaller set of items. The discussion I've seen about our guide in the wild usually comes back to the same point: it is foolish to try to put these prices down in stone. I think that just means the guide needs to evolve - because it may be foolish to chase prices around, but when Non-Ladder prices do stabilize then it will be a handy resource.

I love positive feedback - it helps me know if I'm on the right track. But I also appreciate critiques because they help me catch something that I've missed. So thank you for taking the time to write out your comments. Oh and I wish I needed a PTorch - I'd trade you :D

A guide to doing price checks would be pretty handy, might be something I could do for ladder start. Those are some good tips and would definitely be a part of the guide. I'll keep that in mind for down the road.

Also, please consider becoming a volunteer price checker. Seems like you have a good view of the market, and we can always use the help.

Sold 15 IAS / 15 All Res Jewel for Lo within 5 Minutes after posting
Increased the price entry, sounds like charms are going up. Thanks!

See the thing with jsp is its own currency. It's an RMT site effectively with everything based around forum gold. Here and elsewhere it's not. Effectively there are 2 markets at play. Those who are happy with the RMT system, and those who are not. We're firmly in the not camp on this so you could end up comparing apples with oranges. If the market is being dictated by RMT values then so be it, but every source has to be taken into account because like I say, there are 2 markets at play. There are a lot of people who will not touch RMT trading and rightly so. Jsp has an impact in the RMT market but not necessarily elsewhere.

Thank you for your effort and listening to the Players.

I think it would break me if I had to price check for other people as well. Using jsp is not hard but can get tedious with items that have varying stats. I like playing more than trading to be honest. :D

I hate jsp to be honest but Ingame Trade is influenced by it. As soon as I go higher with a price than on jsp I will not find any Takers. I used this site and others trying to sell a good shield for the value stated on this site and noone was interested. Same with a PTorch. As soon as I move away from jsp values I don´t find any Traders. If you have access to a market that sells to these prices please share. I would love to sell my Ral Packs for Mal Runes.

I sold 3-14-20 sc for cold skiller +31 life and 2 Ists. Would it make it like 5 Ists? Tried to sell for Sur or 8 Ists but no offers. Then lowered to 6 Ists and made a deal with that.

That's unfortuantely the rut D2 trading is stuck in and it's player-driven. Some players have opted to RMT trade others not. jsp traders will trade with jsp traders and prices will make sense to them. Outside of that bubble it's going to be different. Players will drive the pricing, it will fluctuate based on where they trade. If jsp pricing is what you are after then best to trade there or move in-line with other pricing models. The choice is ultimately yours :)

That's what I'd price it as. Skiller is Ist x3 and then another 2 Ists

But yeah, I would've said you'd get a Sur for it. I may be too bullish on my estimate. I will update the guide.

Thank you for your effort and listening to the Players.

That's all I wanna do

I really like seeing what people find. It's kind of fun to celebrate a little with them when they 'hit the lottery' - and new players finding their first big score always feels special 🤓

Base Item (Eth/Superior/os) values (Item | Legacy Value | Current Value)

Grand Matron Bow (4os, +3 Skill) = 6 Ist | 5 - 6 Ist

Are you sure about this? I have trouble selling it even for Mal rune. Did you possible mean +15ed one?

Nevertheless, amazing value you're providing here, I'm using it a lot for price checking, thank you so much for your effort you're putting into this!

My friend also said that he sold one for Mal past week.

The popular well used uniques like occy and shako are fast dropping in price over the course of the last week.
Last week I was selling occy for Ist all week, this week I mananged 1 sale at Mal+Pul now seeing it daily for trade at only Mal.
I also traded an occy for a shako, which in my opinion means they are starting to fall in line, but shako is higher priced at a steady Ist now.

I also have to agree with Lone in part. I use this guide as well as D2jsp for prices, and I check the trade games to see current prices. I think maybe 20 years ago d2jsp did have its own bubble, but in this modern world, with the popular sites being rammed down your throat, D2jsp is more popular then ever and easy to find for all. Maybe people dont want to use it, but they they would find it hard to deny they it isnt used as some sort of base guide for a large percentage of d2 players old and new.

Also agree with OP. he does agreat job of presenting this price guide and updates it regularly. but its 100% impossible to keep a guide of this magnitude updated in real time...d2 economy is far too precarious right now.
