MFO Summer (Actually, Fall) 2025 Signups and Running Thread

Oh, I know that. The reason she and Meph aren't allowed is because they drop so many items that would qualify. So, one hour and zero items that would qualify. I'll admit that she dropped a Bing Sz Wang and a Cathan's Sigil for my item level 99 grail, but other than me who would care.

@PhineasB It just crossed my mind, and I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere but is the Wisp ritual allowed?
Personally, I’ve never used it so I’m not entirely sure how it interacts with the current patches, but it does seem a bit overpowered, perhaps even more than TZ Andariel. Since it’s not listed in the rules, it’s possible that many players have already been using it.
 
Turns out last weekend was indeed the only couple of days were I was able to put in some effort. Work was crazy and this weekend was busy too. Back at it now for hopefully a solid session so that I don't end up finishing last. :P GL HF all for the last stretch!

Well, as I said I have no clue how it interacts with the current patches. Plus, you can't possibly know if someone is doing it, not just for the Tournament but for his basic farming routine.

Back on topic, I was literally farming all day yesterday and even more today and I am very disappointed that I couldn't get anything valuable within these two days.

It takes too much time to be worth it. Even with 10k% mf you only gain a few percent unique and set yield if you already are at about 300% mf. Killing and moving fast is almost always gonna beat insane amounts of mf.

You mean in older patches every item that was dropped afterwards was unique or something?

on topic: I managed to get 2 small upgrades the previous hour! I can still win!

Scores sent. Until this evening this past week was frustrating. Some nice finds just not qualifiers. Got another Item level TC 3 item for example and my item level 99 grail is now down to 65 items. Overall, the Cham and Lo made the week worthwhile and based on this I guess I better start thinking about a Sorc lightning build

Final results sent, time to call it done.

Deciding to use Amazons for the majority of the MFO was a choice, but it was rather like bringing a knife to a gun fight; not really Olympic level performance. Amazon did not deliver, sadly. Certainly wasn't Prime. I got exactly the drops I deserved, no insane luck, just steady, mediocre loot. Very nearly left my top drop on the ground, it fell from the first normal mob pack I killed in a run, before I toggled loot on.

Final (non-spoilery) stats:

Results sent as well. I decided not to run the allowed TZ Act Bosses, so the Fire Sorc only saw 15-20 minutes of actions against Nihlathak. All other running was done on Barb in TZs.
 
Sent as well. Only minor upgrades from some ~4 hours of running yesterday.

Again found a bunch of non-qualifiers that helped the untwinked Sorc I'm running, including a 2nd TZ Andy Griffon's (upgrade over the 17/13 posted above), finally Tal's ammy and 4th cold skiller:

I don’t fully understand the concept yet, but from what I read at the time, it seems worth a shot. If it really grants infinite(?) Magic Find and lasts for 20 hours, you could blaze through all Acts with your best-geared character at Players 7 without worrying about MF at all. I can’t say much until I try it myself, but if you’ve tested it and think it’s not worth it, then I guess there’s no real issue.

Regarding the tournament, I’m both pleased and a bit disappointed. I didn’t expect to get so many great drops in the first round and that kind of pushed me to keep playing non-stop, aiming for the win. Unfortunately, aside from one solid drop in the next two rounds, nothing else significant dropped. Overall, my results are good, but apparently not quite good enough!
On the bright side, I did find five high runes, two of them being Cham runes! :D

Looking forward to the results!

There are plenty of videos on YT about this. At least for current patches.

Earlier patches like 1.07 it worked differently iirc

Thread 'New 1.07/1.08 Magic Find Meta?'

Apparently after 20+ years of this game being out people are still finding new things.

Some of you have maybe read or watched about it already, but apparently if you get 4 burning souls alone together with you they will start to spell out the initials of the D2 game developers with their lightning shots. After this, your mf is buffed to 4,000+.

While this might be trivial for D2r and 1.09+, for 1.07 and 1.08 this is potentially a big deal. The magic find breakpoint for unique monsters in 1.07 is around 3,100, meaning that if you have 3,100 magic find, ALL drops from unique monsters...
