Feels kind of lonely
I totally edited that:) But it`s the way I feel right now. I`m in a city that I moved to because my GF wanted it, and now that I`ve dumped her I feel really, really lonely. I even went out(alone, bah) and drank a beer today. Sat alone at a table for 20 minutes before I went home because everyone was staring at me. I`m seriously thinking about moving back to my old town.....

Anyways, give me a beer. Preferably Bitter, John Smith`ll do just fine.

Jeez! Where are the barflies?

I spent Thursday night helping out at the future-father-in-law's bar. I pulled some terrible pints, but I was the one that was drinking them. The till is archaic, and I was scared to use it, so I collected glasses and tidied mainly. I'm not sure what licence I need (if any) to actually serve alcohol in the UK. It was a genuinely fun night, it was nice to reintegrate myself with Samantha's family, especially after everything that's happened. I think it was just good to work in a place other than McDonald's, as I've been there (and only there) for far too long. :coffee:

As soon as I got home at 11AM, I got a phone call telling me I was meant to be in work for 11. My ****ing store manager changing my ****ing schedule again. There goes a potential day spent on the dissertation. I ended up staying till 11PM to earn a personal favour from a friend (for use in the future), but mainly it was for the extra (minimum wage) pennies. She's ****ed up my schedule for the next three weeks as well. Sigh. I'll have to whine and moan at her tomorrow. :scratchchin:

Some aspirin, strawberry tea, real food at home, a shower, and probably TV over D2 as there is no brain required for TV these days.

Wall of text skill +1 :smug:

TLDR: I was busy in RL. Don't be so rude.

A Strawberry Tea for FE, and glad to hear things are going well with the no-longer-ex-but-future-wife-instead, and that's one of the things I definitely don't miss about working in the fast food world. . . Actually, there's not much I miss about working in the fast food world. . .

Whew. I've had a hell of a day with RangerRick. From UK to the City of the Damned, he pwned all. He actually had more trouble with Meph (at p1) than he did with all of the first couple of sections of Hell (at p8). Izzy took over 20 minutes and close to 3000 bolts. After the Plains of Despair, I dropped to p1 and ran for the waypoint (in desperate need of a muling break): it was fun killing about half the things with Ricky's aura, and one-shoting everything else. Tee-hee-hee.

Unless something changes, I'll likely have some dinner and then see if I can do all of Hell in one day. It will be interesting to see how Ricky deals with BigD. Plan to do the Damned City and River of Flame at p8, then drop back to p5-ish for the CS, and D at p1.

I'll take some iced tea, I guess. I made a huge beer run earlier, but don't know if I'm going to do any drinking tonight. In fact, the tab at the beer store seemed a bit low, and when I got back to mominem's I looked at the recipt: 1 6-Pack for free (and it was the most expensive thing I planned to purchase, sort of a treat of sorts). Nice. But I felt a bit bad that I didn't notice at the store. I don't like to steal, intentionally or not, but I'll let this one slide for sure. :D

And did you say something about WoT? HA!

<serves a terrible ice tea, and blames rookie bartending skills>

I wonder if the EMB will help me become a decent barman? Any tips? Aside from always making sure there's a crate of Dew kept on ice? How do you even make a Cosmo?

Actually, there's not much I miss about working in the fast food world...

The smell? The pay? The customers? The staff (oh dear God the staff!)? I don't mind the customers at all, I like to chat with most of them. They normally only get angry etc. if there's a broken link in the horribly streamlined and centralised conveyor belt that is the production of fast food. Normally that broken link is some rude, abrasive pubescent trainee that was poorly initiated by one of my more esteemed colleagues who all seem intent on masquerading as Staff Trainers for the extra few pence per hour, different-coloured shirts and supposed increase in respect the position provides.

Standard conversation with the trainees at work:

Them: I want some chips.
Me: We're not a casino, we don't sell chips.
Them: Haha. That's so funny. My tiny brain nearly exploded. I want some fries then.
Me: You would like some fries, and didn't yo' momma not teach yo' some **** manners?
Them: You get angry waaay too easily. And you scare me. Please may I have some fries?
Me: <shakes head> I hate my job and I hate the youth of today...

Is it me or does everyone born in the 1990s not know the words 'please' and 'thank'? I'm assuming they know the word 'you', they just insist on spelling it 'u'... That really grinds my gears. Are they just angry they missed out on the 80s? They think MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice are kitsch old school dudes, when actually those OGs preached it like it was. :smug:

I'm really not getting the hang of this WoT. Maybe I'll get the hang of it by the time JayGun completes Normal mode with a tourney char, although I may need to use cryostasis to help me achieve that :whistling:

Oh ye of little faith.

Ricky is now standing around and hoping Hadriel doesn't start warning him about the effing seals and all. He's really cruising, though p8 River of Flame was pretty much a nightmare. No Abyss Knights, so that was good, but hundreds of Grotesques and Maw Fiends and loads of those scary guys that use inferno (though they only took about 8 bolts, where the others took at least 20: jeez).

I'm pretty sure he can clear the CS at p5 and definitely sure he can mow down everything at p8, but I'll probably wuus out and go p1 for the rest of Hell.

But first, I'm thinking of making 30-50 Countess runs and doing some cubing/crafting/whatnot. Not sure though. I bet I can take Ricky through without that, but I also really want to get a tourney toon through Normal, and if I play my cards right, I should be able to pull that off in the next few days.

I'd love any advice from the barflies, for sure.

Right now Ricky uses a level 16 HFreeze aura and a RepeatingXBow with a tiny bit of ED, some AR, and some meager lightning damage. I have a 2os (cube recipe) repeater of maiming with +3 max damage: meh. Somehow, his Chance to Hit went from 95% for everything to ~80% for the wimpiest of baddies. I have at least 2 (I have ~5 of most) of every rune up to Ral, and have loads of gems of various types, and some meh jewels (one Envy with 6%ED is the best). Also have a bunch of Studded Leathers with 2os.

I need 1)survival; 2)killing speed; 3)better playing skills. Any thoughts?

WoT, FTW. And your skills are definitely improving FE! :D

And I'll have a Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale: it's a nice American IPA with a strong floral/citrus character. Yummy.

Edit: Oh, ya. . . decent barman. . . remember what regulars drink and have it ready when they sit down; learn how to tap beers so you leave no more that 3/4 inch of head; hunt around online and memorize as many drinks/shots/etc as you can, then when somebody comes in and doesn't know what they want, you'll have a few ideas; ummm. . . and don't drink too much while you're working, but once you're done go around to the other side of the bar and pound down a few with aforementioned regulars. There's my 10 pence, take it with as many grains of salt as you wish.

What's crackin'? Another Anniversary Ale! Yum!

I did ~30 Countess runs with the worlds worst map (~15 screen-widths to the tower, and fully linear maps on 3 of 4 levels: ~1:15/per run. . . of course I was picking up chippies and juves from the boss packs that blew up as Ricky ran by with his high-level Holy Freeze, so that added a bit, but still), and was able to cube up one measly Ort. Jeez. I could make Zephyr, but it's not worth it in the slightest. With all Ricky's other runes I might be able to get an Amn, but maybe just a Thul, who knows.

Thinking about sticking a Ral and the Ort into some armor for the fight with Big D, but don't want to burn the rune. But at the same time, I want to go far with this tourneytoon, so maybe I should go ahead and burn the rune.

Decisions, decisions.

Now, I'm pounding beer and staring blankly at the tele while thinking about Ranger Rick. Good times.

Haven't faced Big D yet, and am too drunk to try tonight (or maybe just too scared. . . )

And I know he'll get RalTalOrt shortly, but I've got a bad habit of hoarding runes/gems/jewels, since I can't ever decide what to socket and where to socket it. Oh well.

Ok. So Ort/Ral in some armor will give Ricky 90+/80+ Light/Fire res. Sounds good.

Now, decisions decisions: in the 2os Repeater- Eth/Ith; Eth/Ral; Eth/Nef; Eth/Eth; Eth/Jewel of Envy; Eth/a Gem of some type. I could also cube up another Ort.

Thoughts?

I'll take a coffee, light and sweet, while I deliberate. Yum.

Thanks, Pijus! Um. . . but I already went Eth/Ort. I could cube another 2os Repeater, though, so maybe I'll give Eth/Nef a try. Will knockback work against Diablo?

I also moved stuff around in preparation for the fight with D: enough Super Healings and FullJuves for 3 belt loads. Ort/Ral in some studded leather for 75% Fire/Light res (poison at 0 and cold at 5). I'm getting psyched up and ready for the fightings. Good times.

Coffee, if you please.

I've got relatives visiting for my sister's wedding. Heading off with them shortly.
I use "shortly" very loosely, because God forbid anybody on my mother's side of the family be on time.
