Anything Goes D2 Lounge!

Even if this site goes down tomorrow, I would be glad that I made my contrbution in time.

But things aren't that far, right? Right??
Right. They are not. However, we may need to jump up a server grade as I have noticed a few issues occurring. Trying not to though as that's just adding another 600 USD to the annual fee :(

If it comes down to it and some help is needed to keep the site running properly, I don't think it would be a terrible thing to run a small donation drive once a year. Maybe put a splash banner up on the site for a couple of weeks at a time asking for help. It doesn't have to be too intrusive. I got PurePremium already to make a small contribution, but I would not be opposed to sending a separate donation every now and then. If we all chip in what we can, a little bit here and there, it can go a long way.

We are investigating as many options as possible. Funnily enough, we were going over how revenue is being affected by all that's going on at work today. Nobody is safe from what's happening at the moment. Some of the decline in ad spend by companies is also down to the US tariffs. Consumer confidence is low, so people are not spending what they used to, and companies have noticed and started to play it safe by cutting back.

@drmalawi No, I went with a PB Lawbringer. However, since my DT/TS Assassin is my cow runner, it is easy enough to check. Did a cow run on players 8 mostly with the Lacerator, but also used the Lawbringer a little. The Merc is a HF and uses Infinity.

curse area and length are comparable. Lacerator is level 3 with 3.3 yards and 14 seconds while Lawbringer is level 15 which gives 4 yards and 12.4 seconds.

On the LCS there isn't much difference in the numbers Max damage is 13k for both.
Flee isn't a problem as the cows move so slowly and when they are in a crowd there isn't anywhere for them to go anyway.
Amp procs a little more often (33% vs 20%) and while the reduction is 100% vs 50% the cows die so quickly, usually 1 hit, when either is on that I can't really say that the Lacerator outperformed Lawbringer.

I did find one thing where Lawbringer was superior. I ran across two boss cows that were Fire Immune and because Lacerator doesn't offer anything beyond physical damage the added cold damage on Lawbringer made it quicker to kill these two. Obviously, a Sunder charm would solve this problem.

I also used a Lacerator on my Warrior monk to take Nihlathak out the other night. The level was full of PI Hell Mistresses and the 50% chance to Flee made much more time consuming. I did 2 arms with the Lacerator and 2 with Lawbringer and Lawbringer was superior.

I'm going to run some more cows with the Lacerator and get a better feel for Lacerator.

Anyone else ever ran LK with assassin? I know sorc is obvious meta - teleport, telekinesis etc.

But assassin is just so comfy for me. I respec'd one of my 80+ sin for full burst of speed, use harmony and just run from act 3. If I get mobbed map, I use dragon flight as semi-teleport and most of all, the unique trait of sin of not needing keys for locked chests is what really made me choose assassin in the first place.

It is incredibly low effort running with not having to aim with teleport, just point and run and not caring for keys is just lovely.

I suppose it is overall slower and less effort than sorc obviously, but I can use like 1/10 of my brain and the rest goes to movies on second monitor. However with the long loading screens in D2R, the overall difference is less than it was in legacy D2.

And I did make my first ever SP enigma in D2L with assassin too.

Obviously this is just personal preference and the important thing is that I can keep running LK for far longer than with sorc without getting burned out but I am just curious if anyone else ever did this too.

@drmalawi Oooh I totally forgot about the crowd control. I never really used those as I am primarily SC player so it wasn't really needed and I am overall more direct player - dealing damage. I used leftover skillpoints for 20 cloak of shadow and that very much improved the gameplay in case of bad spawns. So thanks for that.

By the way, is there any at least somehow viable use of barb combat skillers? I am getting tons for skillers in LK (by both drops and rerolling) and I'd like to make use of all the skillers, even if it is not meta choice.

Thanks god for the skillers and other charms though since I am having pretty dry runs. So far in three days of running for few hours a day I only have 1x um and 1x mal (and some lower runes) to show for it :<

I try to keep CoS as low as possible in order to refresh it quick(er)

Sure, but you'll get more out of max dmg / AR charms

@Ergro my buddy @sir_cyclops was doing low 20's runtimes with an assassin back when he was doing the enigma + infinity grind for the untwinked 99er challenge, and he loved doing the runs with her. Obviously the other untwinked 99 assassins did similar, but I just happened to know his runtimes. I have to think she would feel nicer to run than a paladin using charge, so probably feels the best of the non teleporters :).

I suppose this is somewhat offtopic, but I though it would be funny to share.

I just had the weirdest dream tonight. I was playing D2, I got Ber dropped which was nice. Then I had another Ber dropped but someone else picked it up (I played with two random people, pretty weird in single player) :( And then I had Cham drop! Only for it to be eaten by those act4 fiends, that eat corpses for their spitting attacks.

And then I woke up and realized I do not have even the first Ber.

Bummer.

I am getting slowly burned out by the LK running. It's been a little over two weeks since I started running and while I am no overly effecient (I do not track my runs, but I am in the ballpark of about 1 run/min with all the extra jewelery, cubing etc included) and play about 1 - 3 hours daily, I so far only have 1 ber (2 surs cubed), 1 ohm, 1 vex (from poppable), 1 gul, 1 ist and few mals, ums and puls to show for it.

Considering I want to grind total of 7 bers before moving on (2 infinity, 3 engima, 1 coh, 1 beast), I am at this rate looking for over two more months of LK running. Hopefully I'll get little more lucky in the future.

PS. in case I do not get extra lucky with direct Lo drop, what is your opinion about cubing up to Lo from Ohms/Vexes/Guls? I do have 1 decent hoto and cta already but no grief or fortitude.
