While I applaud the effort put in by everyone, it is virtually pointless. The vast number of permuations and combinations make testing everything impossible. Probably the best method is testing Claws, as they can only have 2 sockets (I think ... are there any that have 3? Not sure).
With 33 runes, that means 33 x 33 possibilities -- a fairly manageable 1089 in total. Some can be eliminated (I doubt Zod Zod is going to be used. Same for El El -- even if it worked, it would easily be the crappiest runeword ever, heh). Still, one doesn't want to eliminate too many possibilities. The problem isn't in testing Hel and lower, but the likelihood that due to the greater difficulty of 1.10 as compared to 1.09, that the runewords must be more powerful as well and thus require higher level runes.
Just to test every combination of Zod in a claw (excluding Zod Zod) will require 65 Zod runes
Testing helms or shields would be the next logical step after going through all 1000+ claw possibilities. Weapons will be more difficult by a couple orders of magnitude.
Blizzard seriously needs to either give hints or, assuming there is a logical consistency to the runewords, announce one of them with the hope that more can be extrapolated from it.
Just out of curiousity, have so-obvious-it's-stupid runewords been tested, like CAP (cham amn pul) or HAT (hel amn tir/tal/thul) for a helm or OW (ohm/ort (w)vex) for a claw? STOIC would be a good word for a weapon as well ... maybe slowing target by x%

But even if we *knew* that was a word, there would be 36 different combinations (sol/shael, tal/thul/tir, ort/ohm, io/ist/ith, cham) to test, times the number of possible weapon types it could fit in (sword, polearm, bow, cudgel -- 4 different weapon types total?) making for over 140 Chams needed to test all possibilities ... though the law of averages indicates that there would be a 50% chance of finding it after only 70 Chams, again assuming this is a legit word. =\
Sorry if this has been covered ... it's a rather large thread and I haven't read much more than the last page or two
