Sorceresses can use Heart of the Oak. It's a bit less powerful than the Oculus, but you don't have the annoying random teleportations. Also, Splendor should not be overlooked. (My sorceress uses an über Sanctuary though. 1.09 tank build...)bipolar said:

In fact, besides pallys and assassins, who got their own class specific, most people would be hoping that the other 5 classes get their own too. (Of course hopefully not too overpowered, like a sorc runeword with auto convic aura

That could be interesting, but only if there are little to no mods added. For example, level one conviction aura when equipped, +10% cast rate and +25 energy... We should note that staves are almost class-specific items however (I mean Leaf and Memory). And necromancers already have their White wands (though it isn't really class-specific either).

I post a thread in the stat forum called "Weekly runeword search update" every Monday, which includes all the important links, a rundown of all the theories we're testing, a rundown of all the theories we rejected, ways for new hunters to get involved, the week's news/breakthroughs/defeats, and a "runes burned" counter. Check it out, this week's is at the bottom of the front page of the stat forum atm.
As to standing rpgforums games, we wouldn't be able to see passworded games in the game list, only on our friends lists if we were all mutual. As for a channel, someone (either Zephyrus or Cheetah, I can't recall) occasionally had a runehunt channel up on realms, which is a good idea.

:howdy: WOW!! Man, my company sends me out of town over the weekend until just yesterday and we jump from page 46 to 52!!!!!! Good Job (GJ) to everyone for their hard work. Seen some good ideas posted (I liked the THOR idea, since I used to play advanced dungeons and dragons and have been in love with the norse mythology ever since. I love the story about Odin the one eye).
Anyways, a few comments.
Tlaloc24 - Major props for the dedication to the claw testing.
Shaft.ed - With regards to your pop-ups and slowness of PC, I have a solution for you. Get yourself a full version copy of Zone Alarm Pro (3, 4 or 5). It is a great program, that will request your input each and every single time something new on your PC wants to connect the the internet, so you can block Spyware/Adware from ever causing pop-ups ever again without needing to turn off Norton AV. (I use this program exclusively for my home network, and it has protected my 7 PC's since day one from spyware, hackers etc.) It even has a function (in the built-in firewall) that keeps hackers from ever seeing your PC past the firewall. (which is kinda nice). :thumbsup:

Anyways, I am back, found a Ko on my way to hell countess the first time last night with my 71st level maxed orb, maxed CL, maxed Lightning working towards maxing Lightning Mastery sorc. I would LOVE to help McDonalds with beef and respectively request to be added (making me the 8th and final member) for USWest Moo Farming. Account name is: *pandorapuss_dod
Although My sorc has low resists in hell and has yet to complete the difficulty to do cows, I also have a 78th level concentrate barb on the same account whom has completed hell difficulty. He makes a GREAT tank, especially in a game with a good sorc and trapassassin to beat the hell out of the cows while I stand there and take a beating. If only I had a BOTD zerker axe for him, then he'd be WAY cool, but the demon limb gets him by, slow but effective, just need some distance support, which I am sure to get from the other 7 USWest hell cow runners. Although I haven't tried him out in a hell cow game, I think he can give it a go, he has decent Def, chance to block is around 65 to 70% and all his hell resists are maxed minus poison, i think.
I got tired of running nm and hell countess, for after getting Ko on the way to her in hell, she ended up dropping me orts and thuls in hell next 4 runs, and getting there is SUCH a pain in the ARSE!!! (think that is a mutual thought there.)

1) A character only needs to have finished Hell to open the portal to hell cows, not to go through the portal, correct?
2) Somebody (InsaneFarmer, I think) shared a runeword-hunting dream they had a few weeks ago. I had this one last night:
I'm a big fan of strategy games, especially turn-based (Civ, Warlords, Europa Universalis). Last night I dreamed I was playing Europa Universalis II, and I suddenly realized that there was a way to get all the high runes we wanted for free. Quite by accident, I realized there was a group of territories on the Carribean coast of South America, which if one right-clicks then left-clicks any one of them, a free high rune would appear. All I needed to do was send one army to pick them up! Each territory had its own rune: one yielded Zod, one yielded Cham, et cetera. After I picked one up, I could click again and get another. I was so excited. I told all of you about it immediately, and we realized that we would now be able to find all the runewords easily. Then I woke up. :uhhuh:

I fear this is not the case. I think you must have killed Baal before you can get in (perhaps Diablo only, not sure). I could be wrong though, can someone tell for sure ?wathombe said:
Also, I believe the THOR word should be in the new acronym page (the one you got from me and have already started to complete with CAP), since the acronym clearly designates the item type (I mean, Thor's Hammer, everyone knows this. Especially Outpost 2 players... wow, that one is dating way back). In addition, half of its possible writings (all the ones with Ort and not Ohm) are easy to test, I used a special color for this if I remember correctly.

You do not need to kill D to enter. You can still be in act 1 if you would like. My normal lvling way, is get my 78lvl enchanter to enchant my lvl 1... get to lvl 12 (in like 10 mins) kill andy, kill to lvl 20 (still in act 2) then do cows til 25. Then get rushed to act 5, when your ready to do ancients you around lvl 27 and about 40 mins spent.
When enchanted go for a long distance quick weapon, dont worry about dex... your enchant gives you enough attack rating. Short bows are normally good, or javs.

Cow Portal in Hell
back i the 1.09 days I remember being in act 3 hell, and partying up with a cow party gained you entrance to the cow level, but if you were un-partied, then you could not. I believe it was the same rule set like 1.09 D which fixed the hostile timer/tp effect. Where as, a sorc would cast a bunch of hydras, open tp, go hostile and kill everything nearby. I clearly remember not having to kill either Diablo or Baal to enter cows, just be partied with those entering the cow level. 1.10 may have changed this, though. May need to be tested.
Wathombe - Are you going to be on tonight? I will be leaving work at 3 or 3:30 pm PST, should be home around 4-ish and logged in. I will sit in channel Wathombe, so look for me there. I also will be adding the 7 people whom can do hell cows to my friends list, as long as I have enough room.

Okay, I have finally finished the word association work on the low-level rune acronym list. Per Apom's suggestion, I generated a list of all words which could be formed using the first letters of 11 of the lowest 15 runes (El, Eld, Tir, Nef, Eth, Tal, Ral, Thul, Amn, Dol, Hel). The idea was to find acronyms that could be tested easily and leave no doubt that all possiblilities had been covered (i.e, no Ith, Ort, Sol, or Shael, any of which could also be signified by the high-level runes Ist, Sur, or Ohm). That grid can be found on the "Low-lvl rune acronyms" page in the spreadsheet.
Working from that list, I scanned through every word and compared each to all of the runeword names on the 1.07 list for possible word association matches. Here is what I came up with for possible recipes:

You may be fooling yourself with taking on hell cows alone, but team moo moo killers (where's the beef team) even if only two or three people can make all the difference. The clan I am in has been co-op-ing for so long it is like second nature. It is like any strategy game, tanks up front, summoners (necros/summon-elemental druids in middle and casters/zons bringing up the rear. It sort of looks like the war of independence, just line after long line of troops getting it done. Effective, though.
I must admit, unless properly equiped, one person is sure to get ***** by hell cows. For instance, my concentrate barb is in dire need of an act 2 might merc, but being that I lacked the equipment to keep him alive, I kept my act 1 hell fire rogue, and she definately holds her own with the kuko bow I found by sheer chance. :clap:
Either way, Friday nights I am ALWAYS up late playing, sometimes up until 3-6 in the morning. :surprise: Wifey isn't very happy about it, but hey, it is how I celebrate the coming of the weekend: a 12 pack of heinakin and non-stop D2. Who could ask for anything more? :drink:

Not to threadjack or anything but I have some uniques and set items to unload. I figure than trying to give these away in a "Freestuffhere" game, I'd rather give these to people that are working on possible runewords to assist in the cause... So pm me in game... Im USUALLY on round 8pm to 12pm pacific time.
you only need to kill baal to open the portal but you don't need to do anything special to enter it. (unless you're hostile to a player, you can't enter any red portals or tp's to red portals) anyways, i made a zon on WHCL for cowing. it's called, RST-FeelTheFury (RST = Rune Search Team) maybe we can do runs as RST1//1 or RSTCow1//1. but for now i gotta keep leveling. level 40 so far. need to go a bit further and get some items

If you are willing to part with it, I can socket it and beg borrow steal an Amn from a fellow clan member for it and move foward. I am on now, farting around in hell black marsh getting ready to head to tamoe highland and outer cloister for wp. level 72 CL/Orb sorc and leveling slowly but steadily. :thumbsup:
