Im willing to help test stuff and try untried runewords.
In fact, I cant wait to do it.
However, I dont have excel, and have so far been unable to find a free alternative to MS excel.

If any of you know where to find one, id appreciate it greatly.

Free Office replacement can be found at http://www.openoffice.org/. The only thing it lacks is a pretty database, but you can find good database replacements elsewhere. So far, my success with reading/writing excel spreadsheets has been excellent.

well im gonna keep doing nm countess runs but my history teacher has decided to unload a bunch of home work on my class so if been finding it hard to get on diablo but ill keep trying.

Morning, all.

Updated: wathombe's runeword spreadsheet

Re: cow runs: We have definitely had a good number of people state their willingness/desire to do cow runs. Although my to-do list for the thread is getting pretty long, I'll try to put together a short list for each realm of players who've stepped up for cow-killing. I think Cheetah and Dawns_Requiem hooked up for about 7 runs last night, although rune pickings were slim.

Remlin, Ghist, AltoZone, tlaloc, Cheetah, Fragtil: Thanks for all the tests (especially Ghist, throwing down the Lems and Fals!), which are all logged and posted.

Cheetah, part 2: I'll check your ascii grid against the Excel file at some point today (see above about my to-do list ;) ).

Ghist: Very good points. And hopefully you're right about us getting into paydirt area at Lum+. I'll go back through InsaneFarmer's positional analysis list to look at runes that haven't been used much rather than those that have.

Daelbeth: I believe MS Works also reads Excel files, but I'm not sure, and I'm also not sure it's free. I'll check to see if the file can be saved to a text document. In the meantime, Cheetah has posted an ascii version of the helms grid above, so you could at least test helms.

Gotta run into a meeting. More later.
MSworks does read excel files. and the other way around. you can also save it form excel in another format.. i think HTML is a choice. if its needed ill have web hosting setup in the very near future(this week) and i should be able to host an html file for all to view. a "public" FTP would be setup so you can upload screenshots and the rune docs as needed. let me know if this would be of use and ill work on getting that setup by the weekend.

Evilspork: Inviso posted a handy link to a free MS Office clone, so I think everybody should be fine. I do see that Excel can save to what it calls "web page" (which I assume is .html) and also to tab delimited text, so perhaps I'll post alternate versions for dl from here on out. I'd prefer to continue hosting my spreadsheet on my own site, but if the group would like a public ftp for screenshots and you don't mind hosting, then go for it.

Cheetah: Great ascii chart, I'm sure lots of posters appreciate it. You may have been working from an old version of Shaft's grid, though, because there were a few results missing. These should be added in if you want to keep that ascii grid updated:
Code:
ElTir also in barb TalEld in norm
ElNef also in barb TalAmn also in circlet
EldNef also in circlet RalTir in norm
TirNef also in circlet OrtNef in norm
NefRal also in circlet OrtRal also in circlet
EthThul also in circlet ThulEld also in barb
IthNef also in druid SolTal also in druid
IthEth in norm DolNef in norm
TalEl in norm

To all of those who suggested alternatives for excel: thanks alot, but in the meantime I already found something else ;)

If there are people on Softcore Ladder Europe who are willing to do hellforge and or cowruns, contact me either here, or on bnet *dael

Ill be posting things I test solo soon too ;)

Cowhunter rosters

Here are the players who have stepped up so far to hunt the elusive hell bovine (by realm):

West
Zephyrus (*xzephyrusx)
Cheetah (*munster1)
dawns_requiem (*pandasrforever)
freakinrican (acct unknown)
biglou (*biglou7)

Sadly, Europe and WHCL are both a little slim as of yet, but West and East softcore both have good groups. I'll let you guys coordinate amongst yourselves. I've got a couple good days for playing coming up in early October, so I might be able to buff up enough to join the West group by that time.

Happy hunting.

i need to finalize my hosting but i have 4gigs of storage, with 80gigs transfer a month so i dont think there will be a problem with hosting a few files. but again, that needs to be set up.

Put me down under USWest SC for Cow hunting, Cheetah hosted some runs today but we didn't get anything worth noting. I'll be gone untill Friday AUEST because of classes but i'll put in some work over the weekend.

In the mean time though, I figured more then one person might find this amusing:

I'm on for cow running if I'm capable of not getting killed (just not enough experience in cows to make dying worthwhile), but I'm still up for rushes. The issue, as I've been reminded, is time/scheduling. If this were to be settled (I've tried eslewhere) then there shouldn't be a problem.

Listing main play times for the day/week/month is probably the best idea, allowing people to either adjust or find those who have similar times and group in 8s. Those that are on at different times can join whenever for cow runs.

My schedule is completely open due to a lack of a job, and I'm unsure when that'll change. Only sleep and the occasional foray limit me.

Questions:
Are the Excel-based pages the easiest way to view the matrices and is OpenOffice the best 'free' alternative (I'm downloading it after posting)?
Out of all the runewords shown in the opening post are Chance, Peril and Prowess In Battle the only ones capable of working in a two-socket bow? I found a dual-superior diamond bow and can try out the 'all-weapons' theory on at least one of those three if they already haven't been tested (I assume if they have they'll show up in the Excel sheets).
Is the reason the matrices are being tried is because those runewords listed aren't the ones in ladder-only that might exist? If so then WTF is Blizzard thinking?

Evening, all.

Updated: wathombe's runeword spreadsheet

Updated cow rosters:

West

dawns_requiem (*pandasrforever)
freakinrican (acct unknown)
biglou (*biglou7)
Cadogan Trahem (*outlander102)

East
InsaneFarmer (*Tal-Rasha or *cadd)
Corporeal Ghost (*LiquidFury)
Kasira (*kasira)
talas (*talascoma)
Green_Bandit (*satanistical2)

Europe
Crusader (*crvsader or *crvsader1)
Daelbeth (*dael)

West (hardcore)
YellowDyeNo5 (*YellowDyeNo5)

Ax2grind: First, what realm are you? Also, almost all the recipes from the first page have been tested, as you'll see when you get the spreadsheet. There are maybe fifteen, mostly Sur and above, which have not been tested. We've pretty much tossed that list. If you have the runes to test one of the high fifteen left, though, go fer it.

Remlin, VelcroRex: Thanks for the tests. Logged, posted.

Sry about not leaving my acct. You can find me on either Raskol19 or Raskol21. My sorc is at 83 now. If someone could trade me a lidless and a magefists I'd be set to go cowing (as support).

More test results:

Hel Io - Gemmed cap
Hel Io - Gemmed armor
Io Hel - Gemmed armor
Shael Ko - Gemmed armor
Ko Shael - Gemmed armor
Ko Dol - Gemmed armor
Dol Ko - Gemmed armor

Well, crap. I can't find my signature or the place to put it. Don't tell me you must insert it manually.

LE: New2TheGame4 - main account, New2TheGame5, New2TheGame6, New2TheGame7. Only one serious character on each account, my main character - pure hammerdin - on 4. I'm thinking of that CB-variant since I have just about everything a clone crusher needs. Otherwise, what's the best runefinder and is it indeed a burger-flipping hammerdin?

A few quick tests:

ThulIthNef - claymore (I had thought this might be an alternate for Ice (ThIN))
SolEld - bone wand
RalTal - sabre
RalThul - small shield

All gemmed.

Night, all.

Ax: You have to donate to get a sig. See the link on the top right corner.

Catlaw: You are a good, good man. :worship: :worship: :worship:
