23 Runeword Search Thread

There is a rumour going around Asia that 2 new runewords have been found. Only problem is I am sure I saw them in this thread and it was pretty well unanimous that they were hoaxes. I have done several searches but nothing turned up.

They are Vindicate Bow and Mindless Armour. Vex Ist Ohm Jah Eth El and Vex Zod Ist Ohm. One has lvl 13 Fanatacism when equipped and the other has charges of BO.

I am quite certain I saw them in this thread somewhere and someone pointed out that if it was a real runeword it would be called Vindication not Vindicate. If someone knows what page they are on can you put up a link please as my connection is so slow it will take me an hour to go through 24 pages.

I hope this link dispells the idea that these are real runewords:

edit: as the thread mentioned that wasn't the first thread to mention those fake runewords. I remember in the first thread about them someone mentioned that on the Vindicate one it has both "Ignore Target Defense" and "-25 Target Defense" lol

Ok time for thread side updates. Before I get started I wanted to point out that the part of speech of the runeword does not have to be a noun. There are a few examples of adjective runewords, i.e. Black and Red. However, I was fairly certain that the runeword names themselves are hardcoded within D2. Therefore nomatter the stats the names should be from the list that was obtained from runes.txt

There were two new runewords from 1.07 tested on the other thread.

Monday morning

Morning, all.

Updated: wathombe's runeword database
No testing from me since Friday night. Only got to play for about half an hour last night, which time I spent helping a friend of mine start a new ladder character.

Madcat:

I don't play hardcore, but I'd be happy to make hardcore lvl 1 characters for rushing. I could probably even convince one or two of my RL friends who play to to be rushees, as well. As mentioned before, though, I'm new to hellforge rushing, so you'd have to break the basics down for me once. I imagine it's fairly easy for the rushee as compared to the rusher, however. Hopefully, we could get enough runes each run to test one of the Lem and above recipes from the 1.07 list, or at least one of the higher armors.

Dawns:

Great to have you aboard. The helm grid is really starting to fill in thanks to you and Psyadam and a few others. Keep up the good work.

Dan:

Where did you see the "Adventure" shield? Did the guy have mods listed or a screenie?

(EDIT 2: I found the same recipe (ChamPulIoNef, or champion) listed on b.net forum as a professed fake called "Greatness." Some guys were making up runewords and this was one of their ideas.)

Zack:

I've noticed you testing a few recipes that have already been tested. Do you have the latest spreadsheet dl'ed? Do you need shaft to post the ascii grid again? (EDIT: Shaft obviously beat me to the punch. :uhhuh: )

Doing somw pit runs

Hey all, sorry I havent been around. Been doing some poker tournament practing online. Have one coming up in a couple months and have to make sure I get some practice. Only a small tournament but dont have 100K to go to Vegas and get in the big ones and doubt I ever will lol.

Anyway I am on East doing some Hell Pit Runes, if you are on and want to do some rushes, countess runs, or wanna join me in the pit, send me a whisper. Its Talascoma on softcore East. I have been getting decent runes in the Pit. Got me a vex rune a few games ago. But wanted to help anyone on the rune search. Ill be on till around 6 am east coast time.

I've been checking this thread for a while, but sometimes moves too fast for me and I skip some pages... just wanted to make a couple questions:

1.- Have you discovered any new runeword yet? I think the answer will be "no", but just to be sure... ;)

2.- Don't you think Blizz will release the runewords thru a server-side mod, thus making this search futile? That's what they did with the 4 previous runewords... I think it would be reasonable to wait until all ladder races are done, and then to add some interest to the realms once ladder interest decreases launch the runewords...

Sorry if this is of no interest to anyone following the thread, but just though wondering here would be ok

I don't think that blizz would lie to everyone and say they added 23 new runewords if they didn't add 23 new runewords.

to adress ur issue ivasar, no we have not discoverd any runes. One reason could be as u say they have not been realesed yet, another explanation is that we have a limited supply of runes and therefore have yet to test many of the higher rune combinations. Unfortunatly these are the much more likely to be released rune words considering the trends set in the realese of 1.10. Also i was able to connect to b.net finally and got more combos tested
here they are
Great helm-tal,tir
cap-nef,eld
skullcap-tal,thul
skullcap-nef,eth
skullcap-io,hel
cap-el,tir
skullcap-thul,tir

man ive had quite a run today for these runes. I did like 50 million cow runs/ countess runs. on the bright side i lvled me merc 37 lvls :). Oh and if any of the regulars need a free burizza on us west, i currently have 3

Well, "we release" is not like "we have released", is it? I mean, it's not that sure that they have already released them, and the sentence "Be sure to check back here throughout Season 2 for further updates!" makes me be suspicious about the fact that they have already released them... Also keeping in mind that they released the other 4 after some time patch was released and ladder reset, I was just wondering why are you so sure they had released them already  No pun intended

answer

"Season 2 begins with a new race to the top of the Ladder! Blizzard hits you with more goodness as we release 23 new Ladder-Only Runewords for the 1.10 patch"

I took it that since they used present tense, they added them when they reset. Now if they would of said, "...as we will be releasing 23 new ladder-only runewords for the 1.10 patch," then I would say hold off. Plus, they didnt announce the other 4 runewords until some top players discovered them first. Which meant they were in game before they announced them.

Thats just my view on the subject.

Just as a matter of interest, perhaps it may help you in your rune hunting:

My 88 meteorb sorc sux and sometimes has a hard time living through the journey to Andariel. My interests, however, do not lie particularly in the uniques but in runes so I can finally get a Chains of Honour for my Palazon. As such I have been doing a tour of the entire game in nightmare. I tend to do as many of the areas that in Hell would be lvl 85 that I could be bothered with as well as Andariel, Mephisto, Diablo, Eldritch, Shenk, Pindle and Baal. I also include Countess (obviously) and Bone Ash (the poison skellie mage in the Inner Cloister). Now, obviously, this is not going to get me any Zods (I actually don't know what the highest rune to be found in NM is...I know it's higher than Um because I already got one of them), but, by clearing all of the relevant areas rather than just teleporting to the boss and whacking him until he drops gold things, I have been getting a lot of runes. I have only done this 5 or 6 times but, as well as decent uniques like War Traveller and Buriza, I usually end up with over a dozen runes after upgrading from each game (Strangely enough I have found only 5 El runes but 3 Fal runes and upped enough to get another Fal...erm...which effectively means I have found enough runes to upgrade to Lem).

The Countess also seems to have better, on average, drops than in Hell. While the best drop I have ever recieved from her in Hell was Dol Thul and El and almost every other drop has been some combination of El Tir and Eld, my best in NM was 2 Io and a Ral. Her average drop in NM seems to be in the Tal-Thul range which is much better than the El-Ith range she seems to have in Hell. Given that she is a lot quicker to get to, even when clearing the tower (because of its reduced size), this means that, while Hell can potentially give higher rewards, you will net a lot more runes in NM, and by force of numbers eventually end up with higher runes as well.

Anyway I just thought I would mention it.
