23 Runeword Search Thread

As per my above post I would like to know if the tested helm combination of Ral Eth produced a gemmed helm. As this is one of the inactive runewords last seen in a barb helm, I was about to try it but came here to see if it already has been.

I also just noticed that, according to the beta info listed on this site (they REALLY need to update this site), Bramble was originally Eth Ral in armour and the inactive runeword Dream was Ral Eth in a (barb) helm.

Interestingly, in looking at the runename list, there is a runeword called The Lovers. As the theme for this season is WoW it may be relevant to know that a recently released Frozen Throne map called Heart to Heart has a back story cetered around a pair of Lovers. I also have vague recollections of there being a unique item in the Founding of Durotar Orc Campaign of Frozen Throne that had something to do with lovers (but I could be wrong and thinking of the Orc lovers in Heart to Heart).

Also in the runeword list is a word unlikely to actually be a runeword now: Widowmaker.

i find the manner of the question most intriguing though, as it's "seven" he asks about. one poster there raised the same point...he'd didn't actually phrase it the "number seven" but "seven." coming on the tail of the drognan and geglash clues (since there's seven letters in their names), i can't help but think he's doing this on purpose. sadly, this would suggest at least a vex being used...and perhaps a sur with it if the high level runeword trend continues.

or is this too easy?

I was reading over some of the earlier things in the thread and had myself a good laugh. There is an inside joke inside this post on page 14. The poster that zygomis is refering to, who brought up the "seven", happens to be someone interesting. Me. when I posted that it was before i got in touch with this thread and it's humorous to see that somone noticed it. Well just wanted to say that for laughs. keepen the mood light.

I just wanted to address one of the reoccuring issues. This thread is constantly plagued by one question. this question being, do you know if the 23 runes have been activated yet? I just want to put this to rest for once and all. No, none of us actually no wether or not up to this point if these runewords have been activated, but this does not mean we should not look? No.
If eveyone was always asking this question instead of looking for these runewords then we would never know If they were activated. There is also much compelling evidence for the fact that they have been activated. One sample of such evidence is the original blizzard post of "we are realesing 23 new runewords in the new ladder season". If they werent going to release them immidiatly then they probally wouldn't have told us. Another form of proof is the four runewords realeased server side last time. These werent even announced, yet they were realeased. Also the realese of these runewords suggests that they were somehting of a test for blizzard. To see if blizzards programming of 1.10 worked, and that they didnt need a patch to add runewords.
Like I said, we dont know for sure if they have been activated. If we dont look for them though, then they might as well not be activated ever, because if we dont search, then no one will ever find them. So sure at this point all are searching might be in vain, does that mean we should stop though? I say no.

Well, I just questioned if we had a stronger evidence of the release, because I don't trust a bit Blizz; I've "suffered" too long the way they do things, and I find more logical, according to how they've managed the releases, announcments and all, that they release the runewords after the ladder reset fuzz is lost, so they gather more attention again on the ladder season...
About the post, "we are releasing" is not a complete action, is like they are doing it in near future but not yet done it... if those would have been included in ladder reset, they would have said "we have relseased", but still dealing with Blizz noone knows... :)
About the prevous runewords released, they indeed were not announced on their webpage, but do you think they were found out by random players that constantly spend their time doing that? I don't think so, and from what I've heard some Blizz employee leaked that they had released some runewords, "unofficially", in the Bnet Forums.
I don't mean we should stop trying to find them, it's just that the runewords might have changed names and recipes, thus trying old recipes I don't think will work; also, with the godly items and runewords they released in 1.1 patch, I don't think the new recipes will be low-medium level, but also top-level and high-rune demanding. Just my opinion, tho
I don't pretend to bring you down, or question why you use your time trying to find them, I was just wondering if you had evidences or clues about the release and the possibilities, so no hard feelings dudes :)

Well, when I tried mystery it was definitely just a gemmed item w/ no name or poison mods. Obviously the runes have changed on that one regardless.

To the guy building the normal forge rusher: Remember, you only need him high enough level, and powerfull enough, to kill Nightmare Diablo and get into hell. After that, they can be upgraded to expansion, and go through hell on that.

That means you can go as low level as 50, if you try hard enough. Another tip is to have a rushee (sorceress) try to level to 6...level 1 static field from a level 6 still will cut Diablo's health in half...until the sorceress dies.

This is the beta runeword list, taken from this site. Underlined italic words are active. Bold words, words that have been released but are as yet inactive, have been seen in the past and screenshots are available.

Amity, Ancient's Pledge, Armageddon, Authority, The Beast, Beauty, Black, Blood, Bone, Bramble, Brand, Breath of the Dying, Broken Promise, Call to Arms, Bound by Duty, Chance, Chaos, Crescent Moon, Darkness, Daylight, Death, Deception, Delirium, Desire, Despair, Destruction, Doomsayer, Dragon, Dread, Dream, Duress, Edge, Destiny's Daughter, Enigma, Enlightenment, Envy, Eternity, Exile's Path, Faith, Flickering Flame, Fortitude, Fortune's Favor, Fury, Gloom, Glory, Widowmaker, Hand of Justice, Harmony, Hatred, Heart of the Oak, Heaven's Will, Holy Tears, Holy Thunder, Honor, Dweomer, Humility, Hunger, Ice, Infinity, Innocence, Insight, Jealousy, Judgment, King's Grace, Kingslayer, Knight's Vigil, Thirst for Knowledge, Last, Wish, Law, Lawbringer, Leaf, Lightning, Lionheart, Lore, The Lovers, Loyalty, Lust, Madness, Malice, Melody, Memory, Mist, Morning Dew, Mystery, Myth, Nadir, Nature's Kingdom, Nightfall, Oath, Obedience, Oblivion, Obsession, Passion, Patience, Pattern, Peace, Winter, Penitence, Peril, Pestilence, Phoenix, Piety, Pillar of Faith, Plague, Praise, Prayer, Pride, Principle, Prowess in Battle, Prudence, Punishment, Purity, Question, Radiance, Rain, Reason, Red, Rhyme, Rift, Sanctuary, Serendipity, Shadow, Shadow of Doubt, Silence, Siren's Song, Smoke, Sorrow, Spirit, Splendor, Starlight, Stealth, Steel, Sting, Stone, Storm, Strength, Tempest, Temptation, Terror, Thirst, Thought, Thunder, Time, Tradition, Treachery, Trust, Truth, Unbending Will, Valor, Vengeance, Venom, Victory, Voice, Void, War, Water, Wealth, Whisper, White, Wind, Wings of Hope, Wisdom, Woe, Wonder, Wrath, Youth, Zephyr.

As you can see Mystery does not fall into the category of released but inactive runewords, therefore it is not surprising that it was gemmed and may still be unreleased.

Chains of Honour and Famine are missing from this list (but I recall there being alternate names for both). Doom and Exile are also missing but have probably undergone a name change from Doomsayer and Exile’s Path. Aside from these four, every active runeword (some with very slight name changes such as the omission of "the") appears on this list.

Some of the words listed here that are active as of 1.10 are also listed on this site as not yet active (such as Duress and Famine), there are screenshots and mod listings for these that, along with the recipe, are different not only with each other but with the final release of the word.

It is probably adviseable that someone with patience thoroughly go through all the runewords and compare their final recipes and mods with the earlier seen ones. The words I mentioned earlier, like Beast and BotD, would be a good place to start. We may then be able to work out what combinations of runes are likely to give what mods and then extrapolate from the names and what we know of WoW and/or TFT the possible new recipes. Starlight may be a good one to look at here as it sounds extremely elvish.

Given that both Pattern and Duress were first discovered at the same time it is also quite possible that, like Duress, Pattern has now been released but with a slightly different recipe (once again with the "Chaos Caveat").

Starlight, Storm, Steel#2, Terror, Pattern, original Famine can all be seen at:
http://www.purediablo.com/items/runes/runewords-weapons.shtml

Dream and Myth can be seen at:
http://www.purediablo.com/items/runes/runewords-headgear.shtml

The original Duress can be seen here:
http://www.purediablo.com/items/runes/runewords-armor.shtml

Blood, a pre-beta runeword, can be found at:
http://www.purediablo.com/items/runes/index.shtml

Please be aware that I am not trying to redirect the thorough efforts that have gone into this thread, but suggesting a narrower, more intensive, search related only to the particular words Dream, Myth (still inactive), Starlight, Storm, Terror, Pattern and perhaps Blood (which is reportedly active but see page 24 or 25 of this thread) and Steel#2.

EDIT:  I am Australian and Aboriginal mythology is called the Dreamtime. These stories were told under starlight and frequently involved the terror of storms and usually the spilling of blood. Is there a pattern here?

lmao, good job getting all those in that short text :cheesy:

Ike, Good point on the Classic Rusher. Just wanted to ask again, is this being built on West or East? And would you like a Horadric Staff mule character to save time for this particular quest? I can at least contribute a low level sorc for keeping the staff stocked up.

Sokar, I'm not following your logic as to the idea that if something shows up as gemmed it must then be activated but as a different combination. If that is true then we have well over 23 runewords that are active in different combinations. I also don't have time right now to cross check everything, but we have tested those versions of Myth and Dream. And since they are both two socket helm recipes all re-aligning of runes should be tested by the time the grid is complete. I understand what you are getting at by saying trading out a rune here and there could be the new version, but once you start doing the math you see that possibilities will rise about the 1089 combinations of random two socket recipes unless the starting recipe is itself two sockets (but we don't even know if Blizz added an extra rune in the middle, begining or end).

.

I'm the makeing the classic runner and as of now it is a lvl 27 blizz sorc. I was aware od the fact that it only ned to rush through nm and not hell. ALso the runner is being built on West. As to the hordric staff mule, i was unaware that u could carry more then one of these staffs. And if thats so then no time would be saved sense u would ahve to get one again teh next time around. Maybe there is a way to mule them that i am unaware of. Back to what the rushee should be, I made sure to include static in the rushing sorc. So in my opionion the rushee should be a barb because they have large sums of vitality so thta they dont die instantly on one of diablo's fire waves. Also the makeing of this rusher is much slower snese the average iq of the player seems to be half that of LOD, also there isnt baal runs to lvl on.Oh well, i'll keep plugin away.

Morning, all.

Several things:

1) FWIW, my rune-finding and -testing should speed up from here on out. I'm not involved with that ladder-running group anymore, and my main ladder character (finally!) got to Hell Countess last night (of course, the server went down RIGHT before I actually killed her :grrr: , but now I can do Hell Countess runs).

2) I'm thinking of doing a weekly update post each Monday. This would include links to all the spreadsheets, a brief summary of the theories we're testing, and start-up tips for anyone who wants to join the hunt. A few new posters have mentioned how daunting the thread is because it's so long, so this might help. Opinions?

3) Updated: wathombe's runeword database

4) A very generous player has donated us a stash full of runes Io and below on USEast SC ladder. I'm on West, so I can't pick them up. I have a friend holding them on a mule now. Would one of the more active testers on East be willing to take these runes and test them? If so, post here or e-mail me, and we'll make arrangements.

Sokar:

I'm not sure I follow you, either. Any rune inserted in any socketed item will be tagged "gemmed" (e.g., if you put one El in a socketed dagger, it will be a "gemmed dagger"). We've tested close to one thousand permutations (I think), and every single one of them has been gemmed, so I don't think that's any indication. As I understand it, a CODED but INACTIVE runeword will show up NOT gemmed, WITH the runeword name, WITH the individual rune mods, WITH 25% poison resist, but WITHOUT the runeword mods. We've not found any of those. I don't know if there are even any in the game or have been any since 1.08 or something (I started playing right around the beginning of 1.10, so a lot of the pre-1.10 stuff is beyond my ken  ).

Dawns:

Dawns, you are truly a martyr, sir. (Shaft, I'm pretty sure he's doing this on West, btw). As I said, I'm happy to help any way I can (as a warm body to rush, or whatever). The only other active poster in this thread and on West is Psyadam, so I hope we can find enough people to make it worth your while once your character's levelled.

Correct, if hell dia is not killed in classic, when you move char to expansion it will be pending act5 nightmare, so you'll have to kill Baal in NM beside rushing hell dificulty :stoned:

I don't think it's necessary to make a classic rusher - Me and a group of 3 friends regularly do "runerushes" where we take throwaway lvl1 chars or mules and rush them to hell on the expansion ladder. The rusher char is a meteorb sorc who wears full tals (currently testing with CoH) and a SS and can tele pretty much anywhere safely / kill stuff quickly.

The only problem we encounter regularly is hell council who almost invariably spawn dual-immune - when we get to hell act3, I bring in my zealot to take care of all the dual immunes, and leave one council boss that the sorc can kill, then rejoin with my rushee character.

The only trick is to move into nightmare and hell without killing ancients, we have to make a "baal for quest" game and hope that somebody who wants the quest shows up - to make a fair deal out of it we offer them full drops from the tal-set sorc, and it usually works, but sometimes it takes upwards of 10 minutes to find a game that people don't leave at the last minute. If you're experienced, you can even try picking out ready-made public games, and getting your team to follow you in - just be sure to check that the clvl of the characters already in the game are around 45-50 for normal and 70-75 for nightmare. We've had success with both methods.

With our three rushee characters, that gives us 3 nightmare hellforges (max um) and 3 hell hellforges (max gul) We are currently averaging at LEAST an ist rune or enough lower runes to cube/trade for an ist PER RUN - in our best run, we got two ists, an um and a pul. Average time currently stands at 1 hour per full rush, X-factor being the baal for quest.

We usually then cube/trade the runes up to ists to trade for high runes, then make whatever runewords we desire. We're not rich, but if we work at it, we can probably make any runeword we want. We've already made a CoH and a Beast runeword (for a summon necro, lol) using this method.

We do this for our own benefit, but I can see a lightning / Fire and Fire / Cold sorc team rushing a group of 6 other people much faster than we currently are and getting enough runes (and high ones at that) to do some rune testing.

P.S. On a side note, you have not lived until you see a full trangs set necro transform from a vampire into a werebear and/or a FADED werebear assassin (yes, the bear is transparent). Interestingly, when a necro untransforms, he reverts back to the normal avatar WITHOUT THE FCR PENALTY!!!

Ash2Ash, ur point is well made and we did think aboutn this possibility. One problem is as u said we need someone to get baal quest in order to do what ur suggesting. The classic rusher though still would be faster porabably because A) u dont ahve to wiat for someone to kill baal. B) overall classic is a little easier then Lod C) we would need to do these rushes on a massive scale and it's hard to depend on someone comeing to each agme to get through baal D) a lot of the people of this thread are somewhat pressed for time and they dont have the time to spend 10 minutes waiting for someone to come.

Sorry if someone posted this (so many pages)...

I know it was said that Uilelosdach Mor rearranged gives you Cham Sur El Dol Io, but has it been said that if you rearrange those you get DICES??? Might be worth just trying the one configuration of those. That would also give a good hint to the name of the runeword, since it obviously must be a weapon. Again, sorry if this is covered already

well the classic rusher is comeing along, she is now lvl 33 and in nm difficulty. It's funny though, instead of being called a slayer she is called a dame. lol
