1.07 News, Info, and Gossip

I've spent about 8 hours reading through everything I can related to 1.07. I've come across a lot of broken thread links unfortunately for guides that were once hosted by Diabloii.net. I'm trying to locate copies of those guides through Google. Haven't spent much time on it but I'll post them here if I can find them/get a hold of original author. Some might still be playing, who knows!


I'm running through with a barb right now. I'm pointing sword mastery and have 1 in the other usual skills but have no direction to go with yet. Unsure what's going to be best with ultimate end goal being racking. I haven't found any twink gear for my sorc yet but then again I'm only in act 2 sitting at level 15. I've found a whopping 2 chipped saphires. My goal is to get to trav in normal and farm that for a while. Things will go a lot quicker for me if I can roll a 10fcr/+MPK ring. That's my first priority.

I've dabbled with the 3 chipped gem + magic sword recipe and I seem to only get 3os long swords. Worth continuing to try and roll those or should I stop? Currently using 2x 2os scepters.

For my sorc it looks like it'll just be max static, frozen orb, cold mastery, split between tele/warmth. I'm HC so probably max block.
 
I don't understand why are you fixated on mpk ring having 10 fcr. They aren't that common. A plain ~30 mpk ring is much more attainable, especially at your stage. If mana is your problem, it'll get the job done.

3os long swords are great at your stage. If they get an affix as well, even better. Socket them with some gems and you are set for normal difficulty. When I start with sorc, I usually roll orbs with that recipe. But 1.07 orbs can't get sockets, so I'm not sure if it's worth it in this case.

The sorc build is good.

The 10fcr/+MPK ring is to forward to 1.09 to start leveling my sork. I've done the 10 FCR/28 MPK a few years back and it just made things a million times easier. Right now I'm working with a +23 MPK ring which is satisfactory but two would be ideal.

What do you recommend for barb in terms of skills?
 
Combat skill - it's between WW and Frenzy. For general gameplay I love Frenzy. For running specific target, like Travincal, WW is allright. You play HC so that might be different. If you want inspiration, check Pharpis' barb (as well as his other chars), he's the most accomplished HC player in 1.07 I know of.

Mastery - Swords for sure. Most options at the start and endgame as well.

The rest is straightforward, max BO, handful in Natural Res etc.

If only looking for gems for the res ring recipes, shop a +3Holy Fire scepter, make a Pally, sink all points into Holy Fire. Run around Normal Blood Moor/Cold Plains in a SP game, never attacking, just letting aura pulse kill. Quickest, earliest way to get stack of gems for rolling, and almost guaranteed way to keep a char low-level for maximal shot at MPK + FCR.

3chipgem+sword recipe will ALWAYS give Long Sword, no matter base input item. That said, the 'of the Leech' affix is 'hidden' in the way of 1.07, so possible to get prefix, suffix, highish ll, and 3os! Nice when starting out... loses steam quickly, due to being Long Sowrd base.

Save gems on your 1.00 rushees when leveling them ;)

And make one of them lvl 8, I remember this as being ideal for the "Triumphant Ring of the Apprentice".

Jewels are the real pain to manage, because "fresh" runes are common enough that you'd run out of jewels if you used every fresh rune.

This is actually what I did a few years ago. I think around 2016 after reading your time travel guide. I actually still have all of those characters and stashes saved away in my OneDrive. Unfortunately, they are SC and not HC. I don't think I have the patience at 29 to go back to 1.00 for the length of time I did.

1.07 is growing on me. I spent a few hours in 1.07 and then attempted to play 1.14. It took about 20 minutes and I was back to 1.07 leveling my barb. Just made it to act 4 at level 24.

Realistically, what's the earliest I can farm a RC? I don't think I ever actually used any of the ones I previously owned so I am a little anxious to try one out.

I have 388 MF. Hork switch is just 2x +3 WarCries knives. Maybe I try that 2x Gull setup and see if items colors change =) I have Gull as offhand weapon so 338 MF when horking.

Edit: I also tested my Barb with 2xGull for horking. I didn't do many runs but I didn't notice anything special on item colors. Only thing that I can say is that my horking % started to suck..

The strangest thing just happened. I was rushing 2 characters through Hell, and reached Duriel. As I braced myself for the combat, and entered the tomb preparing to open a TP, the bug charged towards me and then just died. Outright just died without ever landing a single blow. A non-quest drop too, 2 scrolls and gold, but this is probably explained by the other chars waiting outside the entrance. Didn't affect anything really, the toons that waited outside just entered the tomb and talked to Tyrael.
 
@Apila Could this be the known bug in Bosses HP? I can say for sure that it is there with Hell Andy, Hell Duriel and Hell Meph. I play P8 rushes mostly.

@art_vandelay now it dropped at run 1055. Before Golden Basinet =) This is the first Eth Sup Non soc %ED stick from that rack.
