1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

It never actually makes a spell pierce like an arrow does, it just adds to the "piercing" of your cold mastery, or your -enemy cold resistance in effect. And I doubt it would ever show up on your cold mastery either way, even if you put on a cold facet in 1.13 it wont change the skill description.

I know you read that in the guide, but I do not believe it. "Reduces monster resistance" and "Pierce" are very far apart in terminology. It might not be that hard to test. Slap on one of the crossbows that has piercing and toss ice blasts at another character that has positive cold resistances.

Here is a previous post of mine on piercing, and it DOES work in 1.07 with certain sorc skills:

Ichorsting (50) pierced my two other characters 100% of the time. Doomslinger (35) would always pierce my characters unless I clicked right on the second character in the line. If I clicked the ground in front of the second characters it would pierce. Ichorsting had no problem piercing no matter where I clicked. It didn't seem to work with orb's ice shards, but it did work with ice bolt.

The ones I remember it working with are fireball and ice bolt. I can't remember if it worked with Ice Blast or Glacial Spike, but again it would be easy enough to test.

From the patch notes for 1.08:
Code:
- Changed items with pierce to use their pierce value as a percentage
instead of as a level in the skill.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

This is why we need a new guide!

I wish I had either of those items to actually see for myself , piercing fireballs would be really cool!

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

if u ask me fine i send u a doomslinger from 1.06^^

but, well i tested it myself, the only cool spell affected by that is glacialspike, and the freezeduration is just aweful, even if u would max it out u end up getting maybe 1 second in hell, i mean nice effekt, like iceblinker in 1.06, but it doesnt work on bosses, and for the rest static+orb is good enough

funny thing tho is, even if atma says 35 pierce attack, it seems that the spell if he pierces he pierces verytime^^

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Is there again display bug or added 50-85 damage does not count ingame. Anybody knows? Like Doombringer's two hand damage being almost the same as one hand (max damage that is).

The Cranium Basher
Thunder Maul
Two-Hand Damage: 25 to 481
Required Strength: 218
Required Level: 87
Mace Class - Normal Attack Speed
Indestructible
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 99
Fingerprint: 0x1516c470
+25 to Strength
+180% Enhanced Damage
+50 to Minimum Damage
+80 to Maximum Damage
All Resistances +45
20% Increased Attack Speed
150% Damage to Undead
60% Chance of Crushing Blow
4% Chance to cast Level 4 Amplify Damage on striking

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

@Tauren: after reading your post, I checked my stashes for uniques with +min and +max damage...
Code:
Butcher's Pupil
Cleaver
One-Hand Damage: 55 to 132
Required Strength: 68
Required Level: 39
Axe Class - Fast Attack Speed
Indestructible
Unidentified
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 70
Fingerprint: 0x1bdc1f31
+150% Enhanced Damage
+30 to Minimum Damage
+50 to Maximum Damage
30% Increased Attack Speed
25% Chance of Open Wounds
35% Deadly Strike

Warpspear
Gothic Staff
Two-Hand Damage: 14 to 34
Durability: 32 of 40
Required Strength: 25
Required Level: 39
Staff Class - Normal Attack Speed
Unidentified
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 54
Fingerprint: 0x7b3a987a
+14 to Minimum Damage
+45 to Maximum Damage
+100 Defense vs. Missile
+2 to Sorceress Skill Levels
+3 to Teleport (Sorceress Only)
+2 to Telekinesis (Sorceress Only)
100% Bonus to Attack Rating
150% Damage to Undead
The Butcher's Pupil DOES add the +min/max damage, but the Warpspear does NOT...dunno what's going on, but maybe its a blunt weapon thing...

Regarding Pierce on items, I've noticed that 1.07 Razortail, Buriza do Kyanon, Demon Machine, and Kuko Shakaku list 'Piercing Attack [1]', but as thefranklin has stated, Doomslinger lists [35] and Ichorstring [50]...the txt file I have of 1.07 uniques also indicates that Stormstrike has [10] (this could easily be a typo, though...). Like Username, I have a Doomslinger, but it is from pre-1.07 classic...thefranklin, is your doomslinger from 1.07 or pre-1.07 classic? How about the Ichorstring? More testing definitely seems in order so that correct info can be put in the new guide.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

It looks like its working right for 1 handers, but not 2 handers. Could be just display bug like Skullders etc.

It's for all 2 handed weapons that have ADD damage on them : Doombringer, Cranium Basher ...

All of my 1.07 items are from 1.07. I noticed that the Ichorstring pierced more than the Doomslinger, but that was just testing it against mules in the game. I do not have a Razortail, so I cannot test that.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

i read somewhere that LF in 1.07 was is bugged at the way it takes the physdmg of the javelin to all bolts with it.

do they get also crushing blow? :O

and i wanted to ask if theres somewhere a compilation of what items CAN drop, as i dont want always have to hurt my head with treasuere classes :d

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

SNIP

do they get also crushing blow? :O

SNAP

Hell yes! Thats what makes LF go from awesome to holy-god-damn-what-was-that. Too bad there is not many sources to get CB from in 1.07. Your best source would be Crafted gloves, preferably Elite ones, goblin toes, if you can stand no frw, and rattlecage, if you can stand the monster flee mod.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

@Tauren: I think you're right: this is an issue with two-handers...I remembered that I had this:
Code:
Pierre Tombale Couant
Partizan
Two-Hand Damage: 132 to 347 [highlight](88 to 232 in game)[/highlight]
Durability: 33 of 33
Required Dexterity: 24
Required Strength: 47
Required Level: 43
Polearm Class - Slow Attack Speed
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 61
Fingerprint: 0x64ba8d7c
[highlight]+160% Enhanced Damage[/highlight]
+15 to Minimum Damage
+35 to Maximum Damage
8% Mana stolen per hit
+2 to Necromancer Skill Levels
Requirements -50%
30% Faster Hit Recovery
55% Deadly Strike
Ethereal (Cannot be Repaired)
(had to add the highlighted bits, ATMA display issues...)
The fact that its eth makes it harder to calculate, but the ingame damage is correct for [(2.6x34) to (3.1x75)] and doesn't include the +min/max dam...still don't know if its just a display bug or if it actually isn't applied, though.

@thefranklin: thanks for the info...the fact that your Doomslinger and Ichorsting are FROM 1.07 means that its not just that classic items with pierce work right. It very much looks like in 1.07, the 'classic' (normal base) uniques with pierce work right, while the 'new' (exceptional base) uniques with pierce do not...

@Username: 1.07 TC lists have been posted in this thread before, but its been awhile and I thought I'd add in a little info.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Indeed it is just very impressive LF and CB!. You will also be able to leech with LF!!! also Phys immune monsters will be slivered with CB!

I have an Amazon that is LF Multishot hybrid with following gear which i think is optimal gear. Anyone have a better suggestion i am all ears :) (All CB stuff is pretty easy to get a hold of once you have a sorc running Meph and racking)

Goblin toe
Rattlecage (socketed with 15Ias jewel)
Crafted gloves (15CB possible)
Guillames face (easy to rack) (socketed with 15Ias jewel)
Mavinas Tenet (Perfect for this build)
Crafted gloves (15 CB
Crafted Matriarchal javelin (342 ED )
Tiamats rebuk (all damage is transferred to LF :whistling:)
Cats Eye
Raven frost
Rare life leech ring with some poison damage

Total sum is 55Ias (good bp for Lf i think)
100% CB

2 throws of LF into a packed crowd and 95% of cows dies.

Ps Multishot is also great with this setup so you have it all in this build!

Edit: I dont think damage fromcharms is transferred to LF but it is not needed..

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

u could test dmg from charms if u equip a cold(poison)charm and put all other cold (or poison) dmg from ur slots away, if they get(get not) colded/poisened, u know ;D

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Great info everyone!

Now I really want to make a zon !

Elemental charms don't exist in 1.07, username.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

update, now levelled to 35.5 on Baal runs, FO pwns the waves, the merc becomes a snack for Lister's gang (and stays dead as Baal OHKOs him) but he allows me to get in some static before I have to run, Baal HURTS in normal, dreading the NM version

@purpelcoust: thats a pretty high ilvl for a crafted ring, I thought charlvl 8 was optimal, trying to get a unique with CR?

gonna wait til 36 or 37 before popping back to NM I think, Andariel is dead already

Gear atm:
24fr 4life helm
+3FO orb (thanks WoRG)
60 life armour
res/life prismatic ammy (thanks WoRG)
shield with 20fr 25cr 17fhr 1os
20lr 15life plated belt
24fr 77gf gauntlets
17 mpk ring (thanks again WoRG)
rare ring with 9mana 29lr +Tk charges

focused on FR LR and life

also Baal coughed up a 10 maxdmg lc, the first of many I hope

Once again, WoRG comes through with some awesome knowledge. And one awesome observation, I can't even begin to comment on how many Gothic Plates have dropped in my career!

Nice gear! I still haven't found Goblin Toes, and I refuse to use Rattlecage. Nice crafted Javs, WoRG has alerted me that dexterity does not add damage to Amazon only javelins, but does to normal ones. I have tested that and found it to be true, and also found that +max damage charms don't work on any javs and don't work on bows.

I would ditch the armor, but if you like it I won't stop you. Do you cow with any extra players in the game? At p1 I would think that all of that cb doesnt matter. My weapon for cowing has ctc amp damage. If you get a chance to play around with a ctc firebolt javelin, do it! Nice find on the Tiamats, and good thinking to use it for your zon!

This is an excellent hypothesis! I am not in a position to confirm it, but I agree that those items drop disproportionately to what "seems natural" as far as other patches. In particular, I have seen so many Lion Helms in Hell cows that it is ridiculous. I often picked up barb helms there, in search of the +3 Warcries/+3 BO helm (finally found) and it seemed like half of them were Lion Helms.

@lionheartthebrave: I did a lot of crafting once my first set of characters got into the 90s and the second one (Viper Grip) was from that era. I have gotten a collection of unique/set rings from the ring and amulet recipes, some of which are quite nice! The other (Wraith Touch) was from a clvl 8 trying to get +mpk and FCR, and it got both of those and more as a rare.

Ty the franklin. Yeah i run 8 player games (modified dll) with this build. And in 8 player games i thin 100% CB is hard to beat in this patch.

I dont love "cause monsters to flee" ofcourse but i dont hate it either. I have tried without but i think i felt it was to much of a damage drop.

With 100%CB i dont feel i am missing damage i dont get with dexterity but it would be really cool to try a javelin with ctc amp damage :). That would definately help with the slivered cows i take down with bow.

Regarding ctc firebolt. Do you mean that ctc on striking is not only counting the javelin hit but all LF hits (and thus the same with amp damage??) If so that would be nice

I looked in Atma but couldnt find a javelin with ctc amp so ill try and find one to test this..
