@LHTB: Since I don't have very good gear, I'm still trying to level in norm some more- and I'm level 30. Shenk/Eldritch/Pindle runs can cough up enough experience to at least make the bar move, and cows are giving like 1/8 of a level per run. Baalruns are a little on the tough side right now, so I haven't even tried those.

The tren shadow version switcher by mattinm is seriously SOOOO easy to use, I don't know why you would do anything else, unless you already had it installed separately.

And yes static/FO is pretty easy (but still time consuming) most likely the best build to start with hands down.

Well, I would level at baal I think, maybe the halls or pindle. It's been too long and I can't remember for sure where I did it.

Ah now i have installed 1.07. :) Will begin with a sorc. FO/Static like i said earlier. Oh, no manapots at Akara. Oldschool hardcore indeed!

i find if u have enough fcr u can just tele out of evil mobs and thus can cast more for more mana, so i find with 2 sojs espacially it is a good investment to dumb some points in there

u should also invest some lategame points in dextery to be able to use the strange crossbow (demons whatever)

my sorc has only 530 lifepoints and 430 mana( lvl 63) but has done all quests but baal hell (i doubt i can kill him anytime xd) so u can obv play a sorc like a glascannonbowie, just dont let them hit u :P

i mean, its no big deal, 2 life or 2 mana per point, and since mana will be increased by sojs and life not, well i choose mana of course^^ (dont have that imba shako :P )

only be sure u have 1 life more then mana, so u dont get bloodmanacursed, then u do fine

well, I don't know anyone else who is rolling in 107 soj 's but yea, that would be nice. I also believe that Xbow has been proven to only lower resistance by 1%

I got a rare off of the cobalt recipe as well once. It also had 1mpk, so I don't thunk the bug works uf it turns rare.

@Klonki: if your main(only) goal in 1.07 is to rack bases, definitely go for the FO/SF sorc...early leveling is slow, but you'll get there, and once you hit hell LK you're pretty much set. If you're here for more than that (crafting, for instance), then I'd suggest starting with a HolyFire paladin...this guy builds up FAST, and does great in the early game. You really only need to get him to the Halls in Act2 for the cube...once he's got that, you can run Act 1 for gems (chippies are fine) for the resistance ring cube recipies, which can provide excellent twink potential (MPK rings from the cold recipie)...he will also get some gold for shopping staffmod items (which tend to be more expensive in 1.07) and other useful equipment.

BTW, as you noticed, vendors don't sell blue pots....if you don't mind cheese, remember the 'juvvie trick...it also works on little juvs.

@LHtB: you can stat energy if you're having mana issues...this is your first 1.07 sorc, and you will be working with what you can find/trade. That said, you will probably regret it, as +mana gear is not hard to find (sapphires in body/helm if nothing else...) and MPK rings make a big difference as well. Orbs in particular (especially crafted) can spawn with huge +mana from the combo of orb +mana automod, craft +mana automod, and affix +mana (and remember that GreatWyrm's and Bahamut's can spawn on high level crafts...)

Regarding leveling, D2 has always heavily weighted XP toward the end Acts, and this is probably worst in 1.07, with the fresh addition of Act5...conseqently, outside of normal (and cows, if you count them as part of Act1), XP in Act1 is virtually nil...Act 5, whatever/whomever you can run, is your best bet for leveling...

@Kimppi: I've gotten 4 rare rings from the cold formula, and am pretty long overdue for a fifth (which should tell you something about how many rings I've rolled...pretty much ANY sapphire I find below flawless goes to the cold ring formula...topazes go to the light ring formula, and flawed/standard rubies/emeralds are used for their ring formulas as well). Only 1 of my rare rings got MPK, and it was only +1 as well, but I've seen readouts of rare rings with 25+ MPK, so they are possible.



Got in some good 'real' MP playtime in 1.07 this weekend, managed to put another level on my sorc, help a friend Pat his Necro, and helped my son Mat his Lfury/MS Zon. I made sure to hit levelup BEFORE tackling Baal, and really glad I did...he nailed me with the corkscrew o' doom and instagibb'd me... Had some pretty good drops, including a couple Lums, a Dol, a Sol, and some Orts, a nice charm or three, and a jewel that wasn't junk!

gambled some in 1.06 :p

is it really no benefit to wear that xbow in forms of piercing coldresis? :(

edit: i tried to cube a saphire , a ring and a thawing potion but nothing happens(1.07).

Items that pierce are useless for a cold sorc, that was a bit of misinformation which was surprisingly long lived. And also another pierce disappointment: Razortail adds only 1% pierce chance, unlike later versions.

I'm having big doubts about the pierce not working. Patch notes for 1.08 clearly say that they changed the pierce in items from skill-level to percentage.

It does work, yes. But it is only at 1%. At least that is what everyone says, I don't have any piercing items, so I really can't test any of it.

maybe the skillprefix just meant to be the amazon skill, so any char that gets it gets +x to pierce and not +% pierce, that would make sense or?


but apart from that, i finally killed baal with my sorc and only died one time in his chamber of pain^^ (he gave me also a faster run smallcharm :) )

now i gonna kill some muhmuhs ;D

edit: is there a 8playermod for 1.07?

But yeah, ATMA is not to be trusted on this matter considering how many display bugs it has.
Cold mastery negative resists doesn't change on skill description, and if this should be something like Oskill in 1.07, even with lvl 1 and not counting my +2 skills it would stil pierce 23% attacks and 42% if we count skills. They don't. I didn't see any glacial spike passing enemies, no orb shard came out after I tossed them in bunch of cows. It doesn't seem to be working at all.

Curious how would it work if transferred in later patches. If this adds pierce as Oskill then it would be pretty cool, but 1% piercing Razortail is just fail :/
