Partial set bonuses work just fine (the gold ones), its the green bonuses on individual items...those work on the classic/normal sets and are NOT present on the 'new' exceptional sets.

So angelic ammy and ring still give +1skills/+MF, but Tal's set doesn't give the FCR bonuses (it does still give Replenish Life +10 (2 Items), 65% Better Chance Of Magic Items (3 Items), and 25% Faster Hit Recovery (4 Items), though, and is still a decent outfit for a sorc in 1.07) Note that many sets have no green bonuses on items and are pretty much the same...guillaume's face, for example, is just as awesome in 1.07 as in later patches...the IK set, OTOH, is made of fail compared to later patches.

Static for enemies with lots of health. Casting a few times will get their health down. Otherwise just melee. Also remember that you can do the rejuv trick for infinite (as long as you have gold) rejuvs, so that you can get mana back faster for though fights.

Rerunning areas to level might be tedious but take your time, the sorc starts to shine later on, maybe as late as lvl 30 (FO).

Good tips from Krikke...pumping Static early is not a bad idea, especially if you're making the standard SF/FO starter sorc.

If you can self-MP, that helps a lot. Did you ever get any twinking gear, or are you essentially playing self-found?

In other news, I was looking at the patch.txt file for 1.08 and noticed this:

I thought that MP bonuses were nerfed in 1.07?

Still waiting for Bonesnap to reply to my PM,self found atm, swinging a 2h axe atm, combined with a 1point Fnova for safety

There's no /playersX command, but MP bonuses work fine...in fact, they are better in some ways...just remember that XP sharing range is huge compared to later patches, so leave the extra characters in town if your goal is more XP for the primary player. However, if you are partied with another character, and YOU complete a quest, THEY will get quest completion as well, even if they only sit in town (they DO have to be in the same act, tho...). This is especially good for extra imbues and socket quests.

If you're looking for budget twinkage, consider the horadric staff or khalim's will...and extra socket quests help to make twinking weapons like these:

I am building a Fury wolf (act 3 nm) as we speak. My only problem is that Fury wolves love on weapon ias, and I have nothing of the sort. [FONT=arial,helvetica][SIZE=-1][FONT=arial,helvetica][SIZE=-1]Hwanin's Justice Bill is doing the job so far, But I am a little worried about hell and wanted to have a weapon with a little cb on it. I think I am up to 2 shaes and a fervor jewel. No other skill that I know of has such a fast attack with as large as the %ed is. My druid is level 46 and Fury is level 18 with 389% ed. I guess my second problem will be PI's but that can wait until hell.

My druid finished act 1 at 19, act 2 at 24, act 3 at 29, etc. Since you are a sorc, you should be maxing static and using that to assist your merc. A 4 perfect emerald bow will last until level 30 if you run at p8.

Crafted rings can get 10FCR, from the 'of the apprentice' suffix...more than that is not possible, to my knowledge, as 'of the magus' is not available on rings as far as I'm aware, and neither of the ring recipes give FCR...I haven't seen many ring crafts, though, as they are pretty expensive, requiring a Ko rune. I plan to do a couple dozen myself soon, after grinding up a few more levels to get the ilvl up.

No, the bugged mpk is from the cobalt recipe. (ring+sapphire+thawing) any type sapphire works.

The 1.07 socket quest can put four sockets in a magic shield, can't it? Is it hard to find a Monarch of Deflecting in 1.07 or something?

I was just thinking about it after seeing jdkerr's four socket "Ancient Armor of the Squid" last night. Has it been done with Monarchs?

Are you effing kidding me?!?! Thanks for the tip, kestegs! After reading this, I decided to bring a character up to lvl 8 and roll up all of the chipped sapphires I had collected so far. (That made a grand total of 8 ) On the 8th roll (the only one where the bug occurred, btw) this popped out:

I've posted about MPK ring odds before in this thread, but its been awhile and I've noticed several people expressing interest in starting 1.07, so its probably worth reposting:
Actually, if you just want MPK on the ring, [character]level 5 is optimum (and the lowest level its possible). At lvl 5, you have a ~6% chance of getting Triumphant, or about 1 in 16, so it doesn't take too long, and will spawn the same 7-37 MPK that a higher lvl character would. At [character]lvl 8, where Triumphant/of the Apprentice becomes available, the chance to get Triumphant has dropped to ~4.5%, and the odds of Triumphant/of the Apprentice spawning are 1:315...the odds are much better if you happen to roll a rare, about 1:14

Still, a lvl 8 character will never roll a set or unique ring, and the worst the odds of getting a MPK ring ever get is 2:123 (~1.6%) at lvl 85+
Its probably worth noting that if you want MPK/FCR, you REALLY should keep a level 8 'ringroller', as the odds for that combo plummet rapidly as more affixes become available...at level 90+, the odds are 1:4797.

@Scottee: its not that unusual that you got a MPK ring in 8 rolls (though you did beat the odds), but you were VERY lucky to get a MPK/FCR ring that quickly

@Entwilighter: It is a lovely thought, isn't it? 'of Deflecting' is not that hard to get, though the odds are slightly lower than in later patches, but the 1.07 +blocking affixes are missing the FBR, and forwarding them doesn't add it...additionally, in 1.07, Monarchs and Aegises can only get THREE sockets...not sure about Wards, but Blade Barriers and Troll Nests can't get ANY, and I strongly suspect that only pally shields can get 4 sox in 1.07 (Larzuk CAN put 4 sox in a blue pally sheild, BTW). Other shield weirdness in 1.07 is that Grim Sheilds have lower blocking (34% vs 40%) than Bone Sheilds or Troll Nests.

Still, I'd imagine one might find that a Chromatic (30%res all) XXX shield of Amicae (15 PDR) with 3 open sox had some value...especially if its STR req is lower than a Monarch's...

Ahhh. Thanks for those insights. I was wondering why I had not seen this done. And you're right, now that I think about it, I also saw Pyro's time travelled 3os shield of deflecting and that didn't have any FBR.

@thefranklin: wow, my sorc is lvl 24 and trying to find some way to beat Diablo. Maybe that self-MP thing is the way to go. Gonna have to try it out.

BTW, all, I was curious as to why Orb is preferred over Blizz for sorcs in this patch. I'm running around with a lvl 3 (after 2 +skills) Blizz, trying to kill stuff to level and get my Orb up and running, and am wondering if the extra pain is really worth it, or if I should go ahead and just run with Blizz. Opinions?

Edit: Also, I've tried running Meph a few times, since I can static him then moat trick. This is a farly safe proposition for me, so I like that. OtoH, with 100% MF he hasn't coughed up a single unique in a good few runs. Before I sink any more time into this, are there any useful items that Norm Meph can drop in 1.07? I'm still running with full Sigon's, Angelic sword, ring, ammy, and a MPK/FCR ring, so I could really use some +skills, fcr, and resists. (In case anyone wanted to know what I would consider "useful")

Last: Are sorc FCR breakpoints the same in this patch as in 1.10+?

Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would want to run with Blizz. You have a 2screen static with no caps and either:

1. Shards flying everywhere with slivered monsters or
2. Blizz in a 3yard or whatever area.

I know which one i choose. :)

Maybe something like Spectral shard or Wall of the eyeless might be useful. I wouldn't hold my breath for the normal uniques, pretty much all of them have lower stats than nowadays and are crap. That is if you manage to find one.

Just so you know, you cant find higher than TC39 (or something) items from bosses in any difficulty. 100mf isn't really much either, I wouldn't expect many uniques with that amount. But i wouldn't bother with bosses either unless doing Hell bosses with 556mf for all uniques. :)

Magic find works a little different too, there are breakpoints after which you will get only sets/rares/uniques from bosses.

I would run LK superchests for some rares and Sorc orbs if you really need better gear, otherwise just keep pushing through Normal and NM and then to Hell, or maybe level in NM cows.

FCR breakpoints should be the same as in later patches. (?)
