I read somewhere that Amp Damage and Lower Resists work 100% against PIs (breaking any and all immunities) in 1.07. Has anybody tried an Arty Necro? Seems like Amp + CE would basically destroy Hell. Could you load enough MF on a Necro to hit the breakpoint?

I recently got back into things and decided to give 1.10 beta a go, mostly for the beta runewords. I actually still have the 1.10beta patch I downloaded back when it was released, so I installed it. The splash page shows 1.10 as the version, but there are only singleplayer and tcp/ip multiplayer options...is this 1.10a? Does 1.10s actually display 1.10s?

I checked this out for you, WoRG, and you are running 1.10a. 1.10s does indeed display 1.10s on the main screen, while 1.10a shows just 1.10.

I decided to give 1.07 a try, and it's hard, but in a bad way. It's almost like luck in some spots, from a HC point of view.
My first attempt ages ago got a MSLE Council for Baal's 3rd wave, and got insta-pwned. I just got my 2nd attempt to NM Baal, and his mana drain thing. Wow has that changed.
My sorc got hit by that for a second, and her hp's disappeared almost completely.

I knew it was dangerous, so I kept away and safe. Baal teleported right next to her, and cast it immediately. No reaction time to escape. It was just pure luck I assume that she survived it.

I do love getting multiple levels for the Ancients quest though. Got 9 levels from the NM Ancients! :)

Anyway, some questions.

1. Are 1.07 sorc's supposed to be level 47 by Act 3 Hell? It seems kind of low, but still managable. I ask because being HC, I can't really level anywhere in case something spawns MSLE. You don't even see it until there's that slight lag spike and then deeds.
2. Is it worth popping LK chests in LK?
3. Does anyone know the drop odds for Ethereal items from racks?
4. The only way to get 4os Zerkers is by cubing and getting lucky, right? (Or having it drop Eth 4os.)

Please note that I'd do some googling myself, but atm, I'm on a shifty connection that can drop out any second. I actually copy the message to ensure I don't lose what I've typed.

1. That seems a bit lower that I was, but not much and I reran places a fair bit. The leveling curve in 1.07 is weird.
2. Hell LK chests are great in 1.07. They drop lots of nice magic items including lots of charms and jewels. Magic items still make up most of my gear. Jewels are worse in 1.07 but they are rare and chests seems to be the best way of finding them. Charms are nuts as you probably know. 6@/20 life small charm? :crazyeyes: 40 Max GC? I did find both a Vex rune and a Gul rune from 1.07 Hell LK chests that eventually went towards a beta cta.
3. I believe it is 1 in 20, just like usual.
4. Yes.

For Baal with his incredible mana drain attack, I found the best way to beat him was by shooting frozen orbs through the little gap just to either side of the pilars at the start of the worldstone platform. I could damage him this way with both static field and then frozen orbs while he just stood there like a helpless chicken. Normally you can't shoot projectiles over the abyss but you can just outside of those pillars. I have beaten Baal several times with this method and I only died to Baal the one time that I forgot I was playing 1.07 and teleported right up to him as if I was playing my 1.12 lightning sorceress.

I haven't killed him in quite a while so I am not 100% sure of the method, but I am sure that static field works across the little gap. Frozen orbs might have to go around but Baal stays put helplessly trying to damage you across a gap where his projectiles won't go.

#3: Pyro's 1/20 figure "feels" about right compared with what my 1.07 rack running experience has been.

1/20? Argh. I reckon I got 40 non-eth 'zerkers in a row. Let's hope I get a few good runs of Eths next time. I swore for about 10 runs that Eth Zerkers didn't even exist... I ask what the chests are like because I wanted something else to hunt at the same time - help reduce the 'streak pattern' my mind creates.

Also, against Baal, I was reasonably fine. Static till slivered from quite a way away, and then orb. The mana burn attack doesn't have that great range. The problem came when he chose to teleport and cast the mana drain immediately.

Baal actually does 1k+ damage and 2k+ (double) on critical with his fire attack.

So you can never be sure if you dont have 2100 some like life.

what's the level req on a decent MPK affix?
and is there an area level list for 1.07 somewhere? i can't find one, save the item/boss/5 area - specific one from the guide.

What do you mean? Triuphant has a lvlreq of 2 regardless of the roll. From suffixes 10fcr has req of lvl3.

From Levels.txt: It can be found from atma_config/1.07.

I don't think monster levels were equal to, or even based on the area level until 1.10, so the area levels are only good for items from chests and racks (which are the best item sources anyway).

Whoa - you're telling me chests pop 90 or higher all through Hell Act5??? Even LK pop level 88?

In 1.09, chests pop at 75 max. I gotta do me some 1.07, for Arkaine's if absolutely nothing else!

That's true, the monster levels are something completely different.

That's only the ilvl, I don't know how high TCs chests drop in 07 but the monsters are completely broken. The best you can get are some high TC exceptional/low TC elites IIRC from normal monsters.

The only way to get Arkaine's etc is to run racks.

Chests in nihlathak's temple pop ilvl 99 charms, at least. Racks are the only ways of getting high TC uniques and sets, and MF doesn't help there, but there's still the nice cube recipes in 1.07 which makes sick stuff like lite resist SoJ, chromatic tal amu, 37mpk rings, etc possible.

and you'll be able to tell i'm new to the scene.

i've read repusz's guide and i'm having trouble making it work.
can someone define the term "room"? is it a screen, a small area between dorways, or a general area on the map.
I would imagine it would be like, 1 hut on LK, or one room in halls of pain.

addtionally, it reads in one part like you can only run to one rack, but immediately after it says you can run muliple racks.

can you "chain" rack? like two teles, rack 1, three tele's rack 2, etc etc, and not have them reset the seed?

im new to the 1.07 scene and it's hard to sift through this whole thread so hopefully someone can help me here. do we need RWM in order to create 1.07 runewords? also, does RRM work? I put all the RWM and RRM folders in the trenchgilder if that makes my question easier to answer. thanks!

You should not need it, 1.10 was the first patch that added ladder only iirc. Here is a list of the runewords that will work in 1.07 as per Repusz's guide which was re-posted by Cattleya.
