Antivirus updating in background?

No, I was paying attention to my Avast and it wasn't doing anything. I ran Check Disk and it found a few bad clusters, including an nVidia .dll file. That's since been fixed and the mouse problem is gone....though now certain areas of high monster density seem a bit laggy. I'm going to do what @T72on1 suggested and try GlideWrapper to see if that sorts out. But I also backed up all my D2 files (and other stuff), as a little voice is telling me that after 6+ years, my laptop could be starting to show some wear....

They are always there, moderators are fighting a constant war banning them. I have just banned about six.

If you see a post, just report it, it will get cleaned.

If I wanted a seperate user on my laptop to access D2 but have a different save location, ie no access to my guys, would I need a seperate install on that user account? I am the admin, they have no rights. My 11 year old is keen as hell to start playing but he is no way in hell getting access to my HC guy(s)

what you can do is to have your HC chars temporarly saved in a locked folder on your account on the PC and simply put the char you want to play in the game save folder and return it to your locked folder after you have played

Mmm seems a bit of a faff thay way.

Thegame is installed in

C/users/[my actual name]/diablo....

My thoughts would be to install into [child]/diablo and then they can crack on without accessing my file at all. There is no way I can let them access my account as I have some work material on it that is not for their eyes

There should be a way to make 2 separate installs and link 2 separate registry paths to 2 separate folders in which the games saves (and opens) it's files. But I have not tried it as it's a bit of a hassle and I never needed to.

Easiest way by far is making a second 'Saves' folder in another directory and swapping folders when you/your kid plays. One contains your characters and the other his/hers.

So I've recently started playing again and can't get the glide wrapper going. I did a fresh install, since it's a new computer. I downloaded it and did everything the instructions say I think. When I try to test it from the wrapper program it doesn't seem to do anything, and if I add the -3dfx line to my start path the game won't launch at all. I'm running it as administrator and currently have windows 10. Oh, and it's patch 1.14d

Can anyone explain how my mercs AR is so high? Or is just a glitch?

I have a message log question. I am in the habit of always entering two messages when I play D2. The first one is what number of "players" I want. Thus, that message is.............. Players 8............ or whatever level I think is safe. The second one is....................nopickup............ Nopickup stops me from inadvertantly picking up an item that might be against the tournament requirements. If I enter these and then enter "M". I can see that I entered the Players 8 command, but the other message is not shown. So, the first question is: Why is the "nopickup" command not parroted back to me when I ask?

Another question. I will sometimes make a mistake in what I enter. If I enter nnopickup, that will be given back to me when I type the "M". It was just a typo, but it does get recorded and remembered. Why doesn't the correct command get recorded and fed back to me when I type "M"?

I've noticed that, and while I can't speak for certain, I always just figured that since the /nopickup command was added later, the dev's were just lazy and didn't code in the response.

In any event, I've just used the lack of it in chat dialogue as confirmation that it entered properly.

That works for me. Thanks for confirming what I had assumed.

I seem to remember a program available many, many years ago that would interface with ATMA and tell you how many of each item you had in stashes/characters, etc. You had to run it, but it would automatically tell you what percentage of the grail/runes you had completed.

Does anyone remember this program, or know where I can find it? I recently re-installed D2 and am hooked again.

@Kitteh Not sure what's causing your issue with Run Counter, as it runs fine with me. Java version is also the only thing I can think of. Then again I've never had something like that happen before. Instable, and crashing at times yes, but stuttering? Not at all.

That's Flavie. Not sure where you would find it for download itself, but it is built-in to GoMule, which is a nicer muling app in general... unless you're into pre1.10 patches, pretty much stuck with ATMA then.
Ahh, yes, Flavie - that's definitely it! I'll have to investigate an individual download, or check my very old files to see if I have a copy.

Otherwise, I'll have to transition to GoMule (which I've never used).
