Ugh, I was hoping someone else would do the translation if I ignored it.

Okay here goes my shot at it.

From the wiki:

"Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" - cooperation

"Picard and Dathon at El-Adrel" - successful first contact between two alien cultures, or to work toward a common goal

"Temba, his arms wide/open" - signifying a gift

Okay...

He votes ash, then I guess asks us to cooperate. Then I think he says we should all work towards a common goal, reiterating the above sort of.

Then I'm lost.

Maybe he thinks Ash's slip up was a gift. Or maybe he thinks that Ash will get a lovely parting gift for playing. Sorry, that was a joke. I can't figure out the gift part. My guess is that he thinks Ash gave us a gift, but that's pure conjecture and I put no weight in that.

I'd welcome anyone else's translation.

All I know for sure is who he's voting for out of that post.

For the record, I didnt slip up. I had no problem staying quiet about it.

Why wouldnt Assrin want you guys to cooperate to take out a townie? The Borgs know who is a borg and who is a town

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

edit to my above post: I could have easily stayed quiet and let you continue speculating I was the treestump, I did not feel I was in danger from a buinch of 0's and 1's thats for sure. I still have no fear of being lynched or NKed so do as you wish, just letting you know you are wasting precious hours of light

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

You're still voting for ITY btw ash. Just a mistake?

And you couldn't have stayed quiet. Once there were fewer players and we recognized that the votes needed exactly matched one half of the players left, you knew that claim was done.

I hope you're right because if you are, that means we're is in great shape because we're assured of having one player left at the end. However, I don't believe for a second that Gorny would put such an overpowered player in the game.

Unvote: Bad Ash

Note that the U is capitalized. If you're not voting for ITY you need to fix that from page 94.

Vote: Bad Ash

Out for a couple hours. Back later.

thank you i was unaware.

I am leaning more towards Assrin as being the liar of the two atm mainly because of his urge for everyone to come together, he seemed urgent when there is plenty of time left.

Also, is there any chance that they ARE both handicapped? It seems odd the method they are both using

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

I'm thinking Asrrin is afraid Bad Ash is SK. Can't SK take out Mafia with one shot? (I'm remembering Ankeli) Town have to get a lynch vote. If Asrrin and ITY can work together and get town to lynch SK then Mafia are safe from one shot kill. So perhaps there was a meeting just before daybreak....:scratchchin:

They could both be silenced...farfetched though

I wish Leopold were here....I hate drinking alone.

But I'll manage--------> Yowzah!

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

I've thought about this a lot. I don't believe they are faking. It's too dangerous a game to play in the mid-game. I may be wrong on this. It's verrryyy dangerous for them both if one of them is being a faker. It's nearly suicidal.

If they are opposing factions, then if the mafia/sk player doesn't get lynched, the other is dead that night unless he gets blocked by a doc. But, the doc doesn't know who to block, so that makes it even more dangerous.

Also, I cannot possibly see 2 teammates from EITHER side making a silence agreement. It makes it highly likely that one of them will die that day as it's naturally suspicious. That would be suicidal for any side.

It's also possible that there's one player with some dual silence ability and today they simply chose to nail 2 people the same way. I believe we had 2 silences yesterday also, just different formats. Possibly they can choose and today they said "silence both these players the same way".

I am inclined to believe that that is the case. Since the faking method is a very high probability way to get killed, I think that the silencer chose to silence two the same way today. But, I do not know that. It's a guess. I just think that anyone that thought things through would know how dangerous a game pretending to fake identically would be.

I don't know which of these is right, or if there's another option I'm not considering. But if one is faking, he didn't think it through very well.

@Flub: Ankeli was not an SK. He was a townie. He had complete invulnerability to nk the first attempt and 50 percent thereafter. Ash has claimed he's immune to NK and lynch. Do you really think we got 2 nk immune players?

@Ash, again, are you asking us to believe that we got 2 nk immune players. One of whom cannot be lynched either?

I'm staggered people are swallowing the huge, gaping holes in his tale. And it makes me wonder a great deal.

Groan. Translation time.....

"Kadir beneath Mo Moteh" - failure to communicate/understand

Obviously, I failed to understand since that was directed at me.

"Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" - cooperation .

This was applied to ash, so ...... I dunno if I was wrong before. I guess asrrin is saying he's cooperating with someone. Is that right?

"Temba, his arms wide/open" - signifying a gift

The gift thing again. Jesus. I don't know what this means.

"Mirab, with sails unfurled" - signifying departure/engines to full/fleeing

I guess he's saying that either Ash is backtracking wildly or that he's trying to run away from the lynch or that he thinks my translations are so awful that he wants to escape me.

Any of those right?

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

grrr just had a long post erased from an accidental refresh.

main points: its possible the silencer role gets stronger the longer they are alive, I dont necessarily believe this but I am looking for SOME sort of answer to prove they are both innocent.

@Assrin: regardless of your vote for me, do you think ITY is lieing? Didnt you vote for him when the day started?

@ITY is there any way Assrin is lieing?

@zarni, The only way to prove I am telling the truth is which a lynch attempt which is too bad. We need to focus lynching a borg or SK faction and not spend it on what I have or have not done. If I was in any of your shoes I would understand your votes on me too, it just is not productive in these circumstances because it is a waste of a productive day, then if we have 2 more dead tomorrow we are really in deep crap as 3 innoncent (assuming no bus driver etc.) will be dead

Asking for trust in this game is ridiculously hard to do, so lynch me to believe if you really really have to, but just think about how this all played out. look at when i claimed treestump and why I would come out saying I could vote. There are answers for those willing to think and put in the effort which is asking a lot

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

The beast at Tanagra
Uzani, his army with fists open

an obstacle to overcome
to lure the enemies toward you by spreading your forces

that doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

how about if you think Assrin could be lieing say

"Shaka, when the walls fell" - failure

and if you think hes telling the truth say

"Temba, his arms wide/open" - signifying a gift

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

the above applies to assrin as well in regards to ITY

Either you're calling Asrrin the enemy or Bad ash the enemy and implying that they are trying to spread our forces.

I'm going to assume you are calling Bad Ash the enemy trying to divide us.

PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, I do not want to inflect my own leanings into your statements. I know it's hard enough for you to communicate right now. Lord knows it's hard enough to decipher.

Just post that one about misunderstanding to my words if I was wrong and I'll assume you mean the opposite.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

Hey and Noodle seem quiet...

It was a coincidence the "Krazey" person turned out to be a maniac right?

Could it also be possible the one speaking only in binary be...enhanced?

I would hate to make the same obvious mistake simply because of running around in a frenzy. It might explain the double assimilation of the two mafioso (asrrin and ITY). The power to assimilate grows day by day...

regardless if he thinks i am the bad guy or not, if assrin and ITY are ignoring the question of wether or not they think the other is lieing should tell us immediately to lynch one of them

And Ash you can just shoot the other one in the back of the head...sound good? :D
