Moar, logically speaking, the only scenario in which Jcakes and Bad Ash are telling the truth is the same one in which CGB was telling the truth.
CGB was nk'd. That means he wasn't mafia. Jcakes said he wasn't a zombie yesterday. If he wasn't a zombie yesterday, and he wasn't mafia, then he was telling the truth about his ability. Bad Ash investigated him as a zombie.
The only scenario I can envision in which those things can all be true is if he was recruited last night. That would mean the zombies can recruit not only power roles, but the power role that is specifically designed to combat them. I find that extremely unlikely and very overpowered. If we remove that possibility from consideration we are left with the following meanings to jcakes flip.
He flips town. He wasn't lying about his ability. CGB was not a zombie yesterday, and not mafia because he was nk'd, so CGB was town. Bad Ash is therefore lying about his investigative results. Bad Ash must be mafia. If I shoot Bad Ash, we save time on a lynch tomorrow. I should shoot Bad Ash.

I think I dismissed it as a possibility without really thinking about it much. Think about the mechanics problems. We have a bunch of investigative roles claimed but a someone can get cleared after they've been infected? What if BPC cleared someone the day after they got bit and that person is now running around freely as a zombie and viewed as cleared by BPC? It seems like it would be mechanically problematic.
Without knowing the zombie recruit mechanic details, there's no way to know how it works so the only way I can remain sane and try to make rational choices is to think about whether I would expect the mechanic to work that way. Town already has it rough with two anti-town factions. Adding in the possibility of investigating a zombie in transition and having that investigation come up pro-town just seems impossible to counterbalance, no matter how strong you make the town.
Bolding mine. This is exactly what I am trying to point out. Being Not-Zombie yesterday doesn't mean to me that he could have been a Zombie the night after.
If CGB was telling the truth, him coming up zombie means the zombies can not only recruit power roles, but even the power role meant to combat them. That seems WAY too powerful for an anti-town faction. That's why most of us think this is a case of either BA or Jcakes lying. I've had an increasingly town read on BA as the game has progressed which is why I choose to believe him, potentially to my detriment if I've believed the wrong person.
I agree with you. It would be too detrimental for the town. I do think though that Zombie recruiting would resolve before any other night actions. So to me it is still possible that CBG was a Not-Zombie yesterday and was a Zombie when BA investigated him.

Moar, how do you reconcile the fact that if CGB was a not zombie yesterday, and a not mafia because he was nk'd(since I didn't do it, as the hopefully soon to come vote count will show...btw, sorry, I should have voted way earlier in the day to keep that question from distracting from anything), then that means he was telling us the truth about his role, and the zombies can therefore infect power roles? Does that seem reasonable or balanced?

It wouldn't surprise me if there was a dice role mechanic on it. I tend to see each faction on its own. TC has to give the Zombies a chance to win also. They need to be able to recruit someone and so far there have been many power roles for town. Was there anybody else than Drixx and Flubb claiming VT? I don't really remember.

There are also a lot of dead people. Of those who are dead...there were 2 town power roles(BPC and gwai) 2 zombies(which could have been VT's to start), 1 mafia, 1 neutral, and 1 town non vt, not pr. out of 21 players to start. I'll just assume those two zombies were the initial zombie contingent. Myself, Laarz, you, and BA claim to be non vt's. add in 3 more mafia. So that puts us at 12 out of 19 non recruitables for the zombies. 1/3 chance of hitting seems reasonable, but you're right, a normal dice roll could also very well come into play. If jcakes flips town, exactly as he claimed, then what do you suggest I do? If BA is town, and just happened to investigate at the same time CGB was converted, then by shooting him I make us lose.

I don't think Jcakes will flip town. What you do is none of my business. I don't want to influence you. I wanted to point out that the people trying to influence you might not have a point after all. People seemed to agree way too easy that you must shoot BA if Jcakes flips town. Do what you think is right, not what others think is right.

BA: No preference or thoughts on it. They're both pretty uncertain to me.
Doesn't matter whoever you investigate will turn up scum according to you. Town will lynch and mafia win. Gg mafia, you have the town wrapped around your finger
