I clearly need to read more carefully. I didn't know an Act 2 merc could equip a javelin either (and didn't look at the screenshot very carefully the first time around so still wouldn't have known). Very interesting, . . my mind is now racing to think up some new scheme now that I have this new information . . . at present Insight is still trumping most other options . . . :scratchchin:
In related news, yes, my sorceress is very fragile to be entering Hell so I'll probably make use of being able to return to NM to try and find some better resistance gear. I'm running out of slots that could be improved but happily my boots don't really have any resistances so it would be pretty easy to get a big boost there. I'm also planning on sticking a resistance jewel in my SoD (so that should be good for at least another 20 or so resistances. So in the end I should pretty easily be able to get all my resistances into the 40's or 50's . . . the life is probably about as good as it gets.
P.S. @ jiansonz How did you manage to get your life so high on your sorceress?! I have put almost all my stat points in vita at the expense of AR and am still well behind you despite now being a higher level . . . I am very envious :thumbsup:

And I haven´t even started any rerolling of charms yet! I have a good number of perfect gems to burn later.
There is potential for lots more. Circlets, armors, amulets and belts can all get 'of the Colossus' (up to +60 life) on rare versions. Armors, belts and amulets can also be crafted, where the Blood line of items always gets 10-20 life, and has potential for Colossus on top of that.
It certainly does. I only have +29 life on my gear (+3 on the armor and +26 on the amulet) and only +39 life from charms (a +30 life +71 AR GC and a +9 life +7 Cold Resistance SM). I was pretty pleased with my charms (and gear) but your charms and gear seem to make a really good arguement for full clears! :thumbup:

Woo, NM Diablo was a hard fight - the hardest so far. I always remember him in the past a pretty over-rated monster, easy to cheese through with any character with non-melee skills including the old clay golem / iron maiden combo. This time though, he completely ignored the golem and spewed lightening hose after lightening hose. He also trapped me in the bone prison once which cost most of my full rejuves before Azrael broke me out. Once I started back with the iron golems though, he went back to pounding on those. The drop was predictably poor.
I had two equipment upgrades in the sanctuary - the first was that I was finally (dratted +2 traps raising the level requirement) able to wear the safety amulet to replace my rare ammy with +10% fast cast, +1 light and 28% GF. This takes my LR to +5 (yay!). The other one is possibly more significant - a caster wand with +2 to summoning skills. This replaces a white +2 cg / +2 gm wand and the main effects are that summon resist goes from 28% to 39% and the iron golem thorns go from 150% to 180%. I'll take that!
I've decided on my final weapon - a passion dacian falx. There are swords that would give me a two frame faster attack, but I would lose too much life with the steeper STR / DEX requirements. I've found the runes I need bar an Ort and an appropriate socketted sword too, but unfortunately it is superior with +durability. I'll look for a plain one for a bit longer.

Finnaly managed to pass through desert. Did full clears up untill going to palace, after what I went straight to Duriel.
Merc and wolf are doing most damage, and I have to took Blessed Aim merc, cause my chance to hit random monster went down to around 65% :crazyeyes:. Wonder how will that look further in game.. maybe I should develop HoW :scratchchin:? gota think that out.

You actually waited for the merc to break you free?? Yikes! There's a much easier way to get out of it. Once you're trapped open a tp. Usually the tp is cast outside the prison but you can go through it to town. Then go through it in the other direction and you should be clear of the prison.
That's what i did with BigSword once. That way it took my only one full rejuv while he was (lightning)hosing me but after that i quickly used this trick and i was homefree. Way better and safer then hoping you have enough rejuves to give your merc the time to get you out.

Damn damn damn... I wish I'd known this before - I thought I was gonna deeds. But, great tip Cyrax, thanks. I thought I was going to have to craft staves until I rolled one with teleport charges before I met Diablo again in hell (extremely optimistically assuming I'm going to make it that far).
Made it to Act IV now and i have much healthier resists 45 for both fire and lightning, hopefully should make Diablo a little less dangerous. Yet to find rare gloves and my rare rings and ammy have no resists on them so still room for improvement. May try some chest popping on /p8 in the sewers lvl 2, see what i can find.

All of that, with ~15% magic find, /players1, and on an untwinked character that can't use unique or set items. I just about crapped my pants when I saw the Rockstopper since that's an awesome helm on basically any character.
ETA: I just realized that the Chancies are 1% off of perfect, and the resists on the Rockstopper are all 20-40%, except Fire which is 20-50%... I got 50%. It's so lucky, I could almost cry!
Another one bites the dust! Was rescuing cain and had cleared out all of tristram leaving Griswold to last, noticed he was FE but i guess it didn't really register and sure enough was standing right next to him when he died and he exploded, one hit death Got to say thats really annoying :rant: Well third times a charm, i'm going to try the build one more time.

My very first HC character to finally make it to Nightmare!! Pointu is now Destroyer Pointu. Who would have thought that a 2-handed sword weilding amazon would be my first success! I love Decoy, truly. I never gave it much notice before. Baal gifted me with exactly zilch that was usable. But he was a fun fight - long and scary, but with all the teleporting, clones, and tentacles, it was at least constantly busy and fun instead of just rezzing my merc like with Diablo. Fun stuff!

Yay, second! Well, not really but as Whommy hasn't listed where his update got to, I can't include it in the table :wink:
So, first things first. What exciting things happened in Harrogath? Well, first of all, the levelling - even at P1 Lancelot went from 54 to 61. The second thing is that the combination of dim vision and terror is really useful for deciding which monster you are going to take down at any one time. And with a weak character like this, you really only want to be dealing with one or perhaps two monsters at a time.
The corollary of this is that champion packs are the worst group to deal with - they can't be dimmed so you have to fight them all at the same time and hope that most will be focused on the golem. If the merc is ever stunlocked, we're in trouble. And possessed champions are the worst. You can't even curse those which means you need a while to even take one down.
The ancients were annoying, but thankfully not impossible due to reading through the hints on splitting them up. I carefully dropped around 8 stacks of throwing knives for new iron golems before starting.
The first battle I managed to split them all up and deal with them one on one. Korlic was first, then Madawc. Finally, Talic was unbreakably physical immune - gack! I rerolled. The second battle they killed the merc very quickly. Third someone was cursed and the merc was into his yellow life within a second before I rerolled. Forth they were extra fast. I think it was the fifth that I won. We took Korlic near the bottom of the area, was he fire enchanted? And extra strong Madawc soon joined the battle. I tried to keep clay golem on him, receiving the axes in the head while the merc battled a decrepped and occasionally life tapped Korlic. Once he was down, Madawc was easy. And then, finally for Talic the merc did need a few potions but no major drama.
Going through the WSK was also fine with Dim Vision despite the frenzytaurs (a possessed one took a good minute of pounding on though). The merc was able to kill Baal's minions once they were split up and clay golem + decrep meant that Baal himself was relatively safe if a little slow - he didn't clone himself once.
Lancelot is almost unable to kill anything in hell. They regenerate so fast. But I dimmed everything and rushed through to the cold plains waypoint. The merc *only* died twice.
So, I found this fantastic ring while rescuing the barbs with +68 life (*), 11 resist all and a couple of other minor attributes. Uniques and sets found were a langer briser, the set mesh armour (Hwanin's), goreshovel and the Tan Do Li Ga.

(*) The actual attributes of the ring are +14 Dex, +101 AR, DR 2, +11 resist all, Replenish life +8. However, with 1 dex being the same as 5 AR, the +101AR is like +20 dex. And so the +34 dex could be converted into +68 life if I put it all in vitality. So it is almost as good as +68 life, albeit a little more inflexible. It took base AR from 260 to 430 or so which I will definitely need. Like I said, a great little ring.
Does anyone else do this - equate +attributes to equivalent life?
And the answer to the question: "What runeword will I choose for my Sorceress?" turned out to be: "None yet". :wink:
Yeah, I am still holding out hope for that elusive Lem/Pul/Um...
Act V was not hard, with a couple of exceptions. There were those nasty Horror Archers in Abbadon, you know those with cold + poison damage arrows. Gulzar died an embarassing number of times. I should probably have hired a temporary rogue.
The Throne level threw me into a jam with Doom/Oblivion Knights (two spawn packs), Unravelers, and when I moved to new territory, Pit Lords as well. I ended up teleporting all over the place and made a hasty portal parking. Upon return from the stairs, we slayed three Doom Knights while their masters cursed and bombarded us.
The Cow level was also tough at the start. Huge herds of cows, and I had to go a long way away to find a semi-quiet corner. I teleported on the spot (right in the corner) many times to keep Gulzar from attracting more cows than necessary.
Everything in the act was done on /p8, except for Ancients and Baal (/p1) and the Cow level (/p5). Not one Frenzytaur in the whole act!
Thanks to the poison damage jewel in her sword, Marion feels like she is contributing more to the fights, even against fire immune monsters. And it´s of course always nice to see blood from the OW on her belt.
Best find in the act were some runes (Thul x2 and an Amn) and an ethereal Hyperion Spear. The latter was found in the WSK, just before Marion reached level 74. When she did, she imbued it. It was bound to be an upgrade, because the weapon did more damage than the current rare Hyperion Javelin, even without any affixes! Here is the imbue result. Modest increased damage, but that ctc Amp is quite nice.
I found three famous exceptional uniques:
- Buriza-Do Kyanon, dropped by Nihlathak.
- War Traveler, found in WSK. Low-end MF, though.
- Jalal´s Mane, in the cow level.
The last two were grail items.
NM cows seems to be good for the pre-v1.10 class-specific uniques. My Randomly Challenged tourney necromancer found both Oculus and Homunculus there. Or maybe I´m just really lucky there...
In this group, the ones I lack for the grail are Arreat´s and HoZ (I have seen HoZ but that was during my experimental Duriel runs with my Blaze sorc; only single-pass playthroughs count for my grail.
I am going to do some more crafting now (a Blood body armor has high priority (more life steal for the merc)), and probably some charm rerolling as well.
