Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

BL Merlini ... oh well it is a good excuse to start a new character.

Not much progress for me, but I killed Griswold and he decided to be nice and drop me a nice 4os eth partizan

Other than that there is not much to update, a few nice rares to replace some of my old ones. I will update later tonight when I (hopefully) kill andy

Edit: spelling (yes I know i edited it about 12 hours late but ....)

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

After a long session with a lot of anger and frustration, Jack managed to get to the Jail WP. With bad equipment and no relevant skills the smith and his archer friends was incredibly annoying. Every battle resulted in Jack going back to town 2-3 times to repair his Javelin. Things will only get worse until I get to Lut Gholein, and eventually the wonderful Tornadoes will be available.

Since I am not a sadist and therefore does not enjoy watching my merc 15-hit kill every monster with her crappy bow, I have not been doing full clears so far. Now I`m off to kill the Fouldog(that will be a challenge).

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

@Merlin: Druids rock. GL with your fury druid and I really hope you find a lot of good weapons for him.

Jack got through act 1 eventually. I thought Pitspawn Fouldog would be difficult, but it was fairly easy to split his pack and let my merc kill them all. The next challenge was Andariel. Since Jack`s damage was 10-22 it was painfully obvious that the merc had to do most of the work. Jack was just standing between Andy and the fire Rogue to tank the poison. Countless trips to town later and Andariel revealed a lot of crap. Well, the trident was useful for Naseen, the prayer merc, when he got hired in Lut Gholein.

The new merc was a big improvement. Especially since Jack has 60% chance to hit now and pityful damage. He is basically a walking Aura for the merc with his level 1 Oak Sage. Not much happened until the wonderful Fire-Eye dropped a Hawkmail, which is Jack`s first set or unique dropped from a superunique. Tornado finally got available right before the fight with the summoner and now I just need some +mana items to drop.

As for the incredible amount of gold accumulated so far, Jack is going to start his next session with gambling Kite Shields(to get Milabrega`s Orb, hopefully). He is also going to do full clears and try to kill Duriel on players 8.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

I`ll continue to spam this thread :) Jack just killed Duriel in a fairly easy fight. 6 tornadoes to Duriels face, TP, refresh life of merc and Jack at Fara, TP back, repeat. I didn`t count, but it could not have been more than 10 trips back to town. I`m fairly satisfied with that on /p8. Tornado is starting to deal some serious damage(100-122) and afaik Duriel is getting hit twice with every tornado, so the damage against the giant worm is pretty good. The drop was crap for most chars, but I got a Vidala`s snare and a pretty good dirk(+4 mana per kill) that really makes me want to invest 5 points into dex. If i make it to Harrogath I also found a unique which might be worth a personalization quest. Deathspade is not a great weapon by any means, but the +5 mana per kill will help me a lot in Nightmare. Oh, and Kaa`s drop sucked as always.

Ancient Kaa:
Short Battle Bow(19% enhanced damage, +4 min damage, LR 10%, 5% ML)
Hatchet hands(+50 AR, +1max damage, CR 9%, 5% LL, +5 mana per kill, 10% CTC lvl8 Fire Bolt on striking)

Duriel:
Unraveller Head(2-7 poison damage over 3 sec, 2 to life)
Dirk(13% enhanced damage, +16 AR, +1 max damage, knockback, +4 mana after each kill!!!!!, 10% ctc lvl3 nova on striking)
Amulet(Vidala`s Snare set item)(+15 to life, CR 20%)

Since I love Windy`s I might play some more tonight.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

@all - Haven't been online the past couple of days due to internet troubles.
Well, all is fixed for the moment, so lets give a quick update. I deleted kordoch because of three issues : a) I shopped a magic spear to replace his club without thinking things through, b) he killed most of the den of evil, including corpsefire, with said spear. But not all, because: c) Something RL ran interference at that time. Without thought, I came back to the comp, sold my inventory stuff, then quit. So not only did I fight with an illegal weapon, i failed to complete the 1st quest, so I'd have to do a rerun, and I also sold Corpsies drop without noting down or using the items. I figured at this particular time in his journey it would be better to let Kordoch be and focus on another char.

Reroll, another assassin. Since I was in a rush I overextended myself, and as a result :
Deeds. Again :) Somewhere in the Stony fields to something so stupid I'd rather not talk about it. Never tag a fire shrine to bring down the health of your opponents when you stand smack dab in the middle of a horde of angry carvers with their superunique boss, is all.

I just rolled a barbarian. My favorite class before I came to this forum, haven't played one in a while. Too bad a lot hinges on finding a good weapon for him, so I guess I'm going to focus on combat skills before deciding on a decent weapon type (I'll probably go for something with good Crafting recipes here... Either axes, maces or throwing weapons)

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Ok, first off, what I forgot to say is thanks all for the support. I was quite miffed at loosing Filiae to a stupid thing as being swamped under when I managed to deal with a potentially disastrous situation only a bit before... As for the score, I don't really want to calculate it, so we'll just let it stand at where it is. I think I made lvl 61 in the end, and I had the first 5 waypoints in the act. But who cares about score? all i care about is the RIP behind her name...

Blegh. Well, so far Hettar has had some mixed luck with boss drops. Corpsefire started off good, with a nice buckler with FBR and ICtB and + to life and mana and the always useful attacker takes damage of 1. He also dropped a javelin of shock which is also nice due to the attack speed, the additional lightning damage and the potential to turn it into a throwing weapon to deal with stuff from a distance.
Bishibosh then came along and dropped a crappy buckler and a jewel. Equipped the buckler in my offhand weapon slot, onwards to bloodraven. Shje took a bit of work, but wasn't all that hard really. Her drop was quite good, easily the best item so far, a rare scimitar Carrion Needle with 22% enh. dam, 46 AR, +3 max dam, 66% enh. dam. vs undead, 42 AR vs. undead, 7Pd/3 secs, 5% Life Steal. It's fast, its got some decent damage modifiers for such a lowlvl weapon, it has even more damage output vs undead(which I'll find plenty off), it has poison damage to prevent monster heal and it even has life steal, always a bonus. Her other drop was a crimson quilted armor.
I immediately went back and hired a fire rogue. Turned out there was only one available, so meet Sharyn (my first stint with a merc with that name). Shopped a superior long bow for her from Gheed, she is doing fine.
With my new weapon, I blazed through the mausoleum and the crypt, no useful drops.
Bonebreaker dropped utter crap, a dagger of blight and a crimson cap. Gave the cap to the merc so I could keep wearing my own with higher defense.

Next up was coldcrow. Her drop a Quilted armor of the jackal, with a whopping +1 to life! I swapped out the crimson quilted armor my mercenary was wearing for it, and donned the crimson one myself. Her other item, boots of dexterity, weren't much better, but the defense was one higher then the ones I was currently wearing, so fine.

Rakanishu was an easy battle, and his drop was also quite useless. a sceptre of balance and a tangerine scimitar. The underground passage was easily one of the longest I have seen so far, and the underground passage lvl 2 gave me the most chippies I have ever found in a single area. 6 total! three from the golden chest, 1 from the boss(skeleton archer CE, annoying!), 1 from a monster and one acquired with find item. No topazzes :)

Into the dark woods. My goal was to make lvl 15 before or during my fight with treehead, so I could put another point in find item and maximize my chances of getting 4 items.
I found treehead early enough, so I made a portal, back to town, and by way of stony field and that long trek through the underground passage, I was back in the darkwoods and knew where I could find Treehead. I fought him last, after killing everything else (and finding lots of chippies, still no topazz). I tagged an XP shrine, fought him and his mininos, and lvld when I killed his first minion. the second one and treehead soon followed. And so I used find item on his corpse, before realizing I had FAILED to put my point in find item beforehand. Ditzy me!
Well, I didn't find any other items on his corpse, so I had to make do with his drop, which wasnt all that bad. Granted, a crimson spiked club isnt all that it's made out to be, but a rare skull cap with 10% FHr, 8 FR, 15 AR and +1 light radius.
I can't use find item on the next three superunique heroes, so I hope i'll be more succesful with the doggie from hell and the walking skeleton in the cathedral.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Hettar continued his journeys into the nightmareish hell... hmm, perhaps the unimaginable boredom is a better descriptor here... that is Act 1. Tristram was up next. So after diving throught the red portal with a snapping carver hero at my heels, I found a whole bunch of other carvers awaiting me, along with a few goatfaces. So I asked Sharyn: "Family of yours?" In reply she shot an arrow in my buttocks. The girl has no sense of humor.

Anyways, after a merry episode which mainly revolved around me merrily blunting my puny scimitar on all sorts of monster crap whil Sharyn was busy improving her markwomanship, I came face to face with Griswold. So I turned to Sharyn and asked: "This perchance your father?" That little joke resulted in another arrow in my buttocks. Good thing I won't be sitting down in the foreseeable future.
After a long fight, Griswold left me with the unimaginable parting gift of a Superior Javeling, a mace of quality, and a 1os dagger. After bravely rescuing a poor abandoned wooden leg from the cruel boy who had spend his entire life stomping around on it, I decided I had seen all the wonders that Tristram had to offer.

The black marsh was uneventful, the Hole as well. Well, not quite, an interesting stairtrap on lvl 1 with a bunch of CE Brutes. The countess tower was quite uneventful. Lots of ghosts around here, and almost every lvl held a hero pack of them. Only one place where some red goatfaces with some aura I forgot ran about. I decided to refrain from asking whether Sharyn had any relatives who lived in a tropical climate, since I had run out of unmolested buttcheeks.
The Countess, tackled at p8, dropped the amazing loot of an eld rune and a throwing axe of the leech.Equipped that one instead of the javelins in my offhand weapon, but I rarely used them anymore. Tamoe highlands were slightly easier, since they were mostly dominated by undead, and my scimitar does semi-decent damage against undead.
The pit lvl 2 took a lot of running around, but in the end, was emptied of dangerous opponents. So that left the monastery. Had a lot of fun(not) with a couple of Yeti champions and a aura enchanted(fanaticism) heropack of those razor beasts.

The barracks was quite painful really. My enemies got more and more hit points, which made fighting them gradually tougher and tougher. That became most readily apparent against my first boss, a stone skin death clan. It took lots of scimitar whacking and arrow shooting before he croaked. The next two bosses were both LE, so they were interesting as well. I decided to deal with the smith by the simple expedient of lvl 1 bash, which works VERY WELL against that big dope. Knockback keeps him out of swinging reach, which is a good thing when you wear nothing more then a quilted armor...
Speaking of quilted armors, that was exactly what he dropped. Plain white too. Of course, he dropped other things as well, such as a marvellous wolf head. I asked Sharyn if she wanted to don it, since wolves look so much nicer then goats, and I barely managed to duck in time for the arrow to miss my arms. I sold the head instead. The heavy boots of balance however I did wear.

Next stop, Pitspawn. He died without too much troubles, Howl worked well in keeping his minions away. He dropped a nice rare targe with good resists. I sold that one, his other drop was a hard leather armor. Finally, no more Quilted armor for the barb!
Bone ash was his usual unproblematic self, and finally my heavy find item investment (6 skill points) paid off. 4 items here, I picked a rare long staff with no sorc mods and 2 open sockets and a voulge(decent weapon for me now, and for my desert merc later). His other drops were a throwing axe of craftmanship and a light crossbow with good damage modifiers.

I struggled through the catacombs, and through andy as well. She dropped a topaz, a flawed diamond and two chippies, as well as a bunch of rares, including two studded leathers (both worn), hatchet hands(sold), a longbow(equipped by me) and an ethereal twohanded sword without selfrepair. I might use it against duriel so I can actually do some damage.

Start Act II. With my new defiance merc Emilio, the sewers were pretty easy, and so wa radament with a resist poison shrine. He dropped a useless dirk, my first pair of gloves (viridian heavy gloves) and a jagged scythe of measure, which has higher average damage then the voulge, and so equipped by Emilio.
Finally, Creeping Feature. He died easily as well, and dropped two falchions. With find item I added two heavy boots. I kept one of each, Beryl Heavy boots of Remedy and a steel falchion of measure.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Good luck with the barb, Merlin. I hate barbs, baaah.

An update every second Superunique is a bit much, but my inventory just filled up and the drops has been good to me so far in Kurast. Szark was evil and dropped a stupid Kite Shield with a whopping 4 to life. The witchdoctor was much nicer and dropped a rare amulet and some Hatchet hands the first time around. The amulet was of course the most interesting one. It was not great at all, but had 5% MF and 17% LR, so I guess I`ll use that instead of Vidala`s snare for now. Some MF is better than none, I guess. The snare has been stashed in case someone decides to drop another piece of the set, and it is probably better in the long run anyway. The witchdoctor decided to fight me some more and this time he decided to drop crap. A kite shield with useless defense bonus, another claw and a Jawbone cap. Nothing to get excited about. However one of his small flayer friends in the jungle dropped a 2os Wolf head with +2 to Twister and +1 Oak Sage. That one is interesting. I might personalize that one to get me a nice Lore pelt later on, but we`ll see. I`ll probably play a big session tonight so expect another update pretty soon.

Btw, thanks for adding me to the table Jcakes:)

oh, and I almost forgot....
Strange chest in one of the tombs. Unfortunately I picked up the dirk and dropped it at once because I have never seen this before. There were nothing else in the chest. The uniques were a Nagel(23%MF) and a Diggler btw, nothing to get excited about.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

JAck learned to control Hurricanes in the Kurast Jungle and from there he laid waste to everything incredibly fast. I am completely amazed by the killing speed of this creature. He is addicted to blue pots for the moment, but that`s just a minor issue and not really a problem in the long run.

The drops was fairly uneventful i Kurast. Some MF boots, a better merc weapon from Stormtree and a wand with confusion charges and 38% LR which I kept for style points :). I managed to kill Bremm Sparkfist and his two counsil friends at the same time and nearly at the same location, so I could not figure out which of the piles I should take. Guess I lost a ring for cubing there.

Jack also cleared Act 4 in the same session. I was kind of rushing him through the act to get to fight Diablo before bedtime. The super uniques didn`t drop very well, a random pack of OKs in the Chaos Sanctuary gave me my best drop so far.

Haseen, Jacks religious friend, was given every piece of equipment with Fire and Lightning resist before the battle with Diablo. Jack doesn`t need it anyway, Cyclone Armor works like a charm. In the end his resists were 75 and 73, this made him able to tank Diablo a little bit while Jack was standing behind the Lord of Terror spamming Tornadoes. Haseen had to be resurrected every time Diablo fired his lightning hose in his direction, but luckily big D. seemed to hate the lvl1 Oak sage more than Haseen. Diablo fell after a lot of merc resurrections and will camp in Harrogath for a couple of days.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Hopefully its not too late to join. Started a lightining trapper, Lacie. Haven't been keeping track of what dropped off what yet but will start doing that from now on. Had a scare at the entrance to cold plains a ghostly dark spearwoman almost killed me a few times. Ran out of healing pots and ran away from her. Came back after getting a merc.

I seem to keep getting hats from the SU. I have sold about 3 now. Been doing full P8 clears. I think the benefit of the higher level will be more useful later than the early loss of points.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Since I was incredibly bored today, I decided to take Jack for a little walk around Harrogath. Six hours later he became a destroyer. Drops have not been really good to him at all, I keep finding a lot of stuff that gives +skills to every other race than druids, but he does just fine with what he`s got. The major item upgrades was the helmet(got myself a rare with a socket, which was immideately filled with a Ftopaz), the boots(rare, with 20% FRW and 25% MF, easily my best find so far. Thanks Eyeback!) and Eldritch dropped a magical Lochaber Axe with some %ED. I was not happy with that and rerolled the weapon with a bunch of chippies until this little beauty showed up:

Fine Lochaber Axe of Frost
'Amn'
Two-Hand Damage: 7 to 74
Durability: 26 of 50
Required Strength: 80
Required Level: 25
Polearm Class - Slow Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 25
Fingerprint: 0xce94c7c0
+28% Enhanced Damage
+33 to Attack Rating
+1 cold damage over 2 seconds
7% Life stolen per hit
Socketed (2: 1 used)

Two sockets, ED and a little cold damage for extra slowing. It makes Haseen a pretty sturdy tank, while Jack`s tornadoes kill everything. In addition to that, Jack got a nice rare ring with lots of +mana.

Since Jack got Hurricane, he has been practically invincible. Tornado kills nearly everything in two or less hits and nothing gets close because of Hurricane. Cyclone Armor gives Jack another 550+ HP against elemental attacks and to top it off he has more than 600 HP w\ lvl1 Oak Sage.

Even though none of the battles were that interesting, I got a drop from Nihlatak that is just hilarious.

Blood Torc
Amulet
Required Level: 51
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 68
Fingerprint: 0x6eeb3430
+17 to Dexterity
+34 to Life
+6 to Maximum Stamina
Fire Resist +17%
Lightning Resist +4%
Cold Resist +4%
Poison Resist +4%
14% Chance to cast Level 5 Charged Bolt when struck

Ok, the Fire resist and +life is good, but what is up with the rest of the mods?

I had to forfeit another drop, unfortunately. The Cow King decided to die in the middle of the herd, and there were blue and yellow items everywhere. I picked everything up and nothing was good, so no big loss.

Jack personalized a 3os Breast Plate, which he will use to MF in nightmare and eventually Hel it later to get a runeword in it. Both Anya and the imbue quest failed miserably, and I sold both items at once. None of them had any relevant skills at all, so I decided to go with my MF rare Crown(socketed with Flawless Topaz). Larzuk punched a hole in the Hawkmail and I used another flawless Topaz to fill it. The merc will use the Hawkmail from now on, and the total MF is really getting respectable.

Time to brave the wild outdoors for Enkidu. So off he went and didn't really encounter many problems outside. However this would be the first (of many I'm sure) time that light and cold immune monsters were rampant in the same area. So quite a bit of aura switching going on. I'm sure I attacked cold immnues with Holy Freeze far more than I'm willing to admit. It's like dropping Meteors on Lister, everyone gives you weird looks.

Underground was a completely different story however. I blame the Unravellers and their minions. That and my unwillingness to charge into any room to take them out. Seems everytime I think of almost doing so, a bosspack of ghosts or something else just as nasty appears. Slow and steady, that's the plan. And for the most part it worked.

By far the toughest place was the Viper Temple, as expected. Everything but the Unravellers are cold immune, which negates my favorite aura slightly. However I do like the fact that even though they are cold immune they are slowed by Holy Freeze anyway. So Enkidu would keep Holy Freeze active until within striking range of the vipers/skeletons and then switch quickly to Holy Shock. Worked pretty well, but quite a few scary moments when the vipers charged the merc out of the way and suddenly Enkidu is face to face with six or more vipers just ready to gang charge him. More than once that almost lead to Enkidu's deeds, especially when a cursed boss was present.

I hoped to find the way down quickly, and I did. Stepped into the second floor and all was clear, whew no stair trap. Moved into the room and saw skeletons moving my way, from both sides. That's not good, there were three Unravellers present. Enkidu needed to get into the room quickly before Fangskin noticed his presense, as retreating would just leave a stairtrap ready and waiting for Enkidu's return. Enkidu attacked right while the merc went left. Suddenly Fangsking showed up and started hammering on the merc, not good. Enkidu took out one skeleton and squeezed past the rest into the room. Run for the alter! He got charged by a few snakes but made it, grabbed the amulet and TPed out. Done.

Well, not quite. I want my Fangskin drop. :greedy: Going back in this was what awaited Enkidu. Figured the best way to deal with this was to throw knives at the snakes to weed things out. Started doing so while skeletons made their way up the stairs. The merc kept them busy but the Unravellers hit Enkidu hard repeatedly so many trips back to town were required. I noticed there seemed to be quite a few more snakes than expected, seems there was a reason, Fangskin wasn't alone. Lovely. Still, the plan worked, eliminated all of the snakes then drew the two bosses to the foot of the stairs and took them on one at a time. Even Fangskin fell, however did make sure the merc was between him and Enkidu as he hit quite hard. Once that the bosses were gone ran out and took care of the Unravellers and the floor was clear. Ya!

As for the drops, the snake boss gave a GC with 38 mana and Fangskin dropped...nothing! Completely forgot he was bugged in Hell. :banghead: What a waste of 75% of my full rejuv potions and several merc resurrections. All for a louse GC that I sold and some gold that dropped from the minions.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Well, I haven't done any serious recovery efforts on my old hard drive, but I just installed DII on the new one, and of course it means I need to start off new. So, this character is FC, since I can't play hardcore yet, and he's a bowling druid named TheDude (cause bowling always makes me think of The Big Lebowski). Lvl 6, finished the Bloody Moor. Our favorite zombie dropped a sash (+2 ST, some resists) and some magic throwing knives (expanded stack = 188 knives to throw). He's looking good to go far.

Sorry to hear about Filiae's death, Merlin. And gl Mursilis with the rest of the bugs you encounter :)

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Just a small update plus a question. Cleared the countess tower she dropped 4 items.

Light Crossbow (+2 Max Damage)
Trident of Frost (1-2 Cold Damage, +1 Mana after kill)
Throwing Axe(4% Life Steal)
Katar(33%ED, Knockback)

I'll hang onto the Trident since I will probably want an act2 merc. Crossbow and throwing axes not useful. Changed my weapon to the katar as it does more damage than the club I was using.

Now has 1.12 added an extra layout to the countess tower level 5 or have I just never seen this one. I would have thought if there were 2 then I would have seen it before after all the runs I have done.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

This is what I consider the normal layout of the countess level. Note it goes the other direction and the entrance isn't in a little room off the end.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Lousy internet connection.

Welcome Zatlaren! Hope you have fun with the trapper!
As far as the countess tower goes, both lvl 5 maps can appear. I usually wind up with the one you find unusual, but the other one pops up every now and then as well...

Nice going there Thomh. Would you believe I never ever made a windy druid? I did make several fire druids, but never a windy... Wouldn't they suck vs phys immunes? And dont they suffer as well under the physical damage reduction penalty from Nightmare and hell?

Fatfree, bowling is excellent fun. That is, until you meet some badass who makes the ball explode rather then being pushed back by it. What's going to be your backupskill?

@Mursilis - At least you can say you killed Fangskin... :) Man, I'm not even at fangskin on normal, and you already killed him in hell :P

My barbarian is still continuing on his journeys. He has just cleaned out the maggot lair. Well, lets reprhare that. Emilio, his mercenary, just cleaned out the maggot lair. Hettar cleaned out the Maggot lair in an entirely different manner, but just as thorough. He even made sure no items were stuck in the bowels of all the creatures Emilio had disposed off.

Halls of the dead were quite doable, thanks to the marvel that is Find Item (which renders skeletons very much dead) and taunt (which makes the greater mummies race towards... well, amble in a semi-swift manner at least... towards me). I managed to find a berserkers helm from a boss with Find Item. Crap of course, unless I manage to find the other two items legit, then I might think about personalizing it... But at least it shows my Find Item investment was not in vain.

Bloodwytch showed me as well, by dropping 4 items total. tw were useless, a deadly sabre of craftmanship and a dirk of quality. That made my choice of items to take simple, the first a crystal sword of the bat, which replaced my scimitar, and the second a nice rare belt with a whopping 5 LR and 4 life and PD length reduction. But a legit belt with 3 potion rows... snifff...

Beetleburst in the Far Oasis refused to give up more items, even after I tickled his innards, so I'd just have to make do with a vicious dirk (Seriously, do they want me to make a daggerbarb or something?) and a rare studded leather armor (11 Fr, 30% enh. def and att takes dam of 3)
Oh and Cold wurm dropped a sturdy hard leather armor and a rare belt, with 10% FHr and +8 mana, but without the LR, so I stashed it.

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

@Fatfree: Ah, a bowler. Wonderful, I really hope you make it all the way though with that one. It is just such a cool build.

@Merlin: This is my second windy. I seem to remember that I had no real problems killing stuff until late in hell, and of course the ancients were nearly impossible. Hurricane will hopefully deal with PIs, although that would be slooooooow. BTW, you should make a windy. They are quite fun to play, much more fun that the stupid Meteorb I played earlier, at least.

@all: Anybody got any ideas for a merc for a windy. HF merc seems kind of stupid, since I already got hurricane. Act3 merc to deal with PIs will be hard because of the restrictions on equipment. It will be hard to dress up both Jack and the merc with basically the same equipment. I think I`ll keep my prayer merc for now, but suggestions are welcome.

Finished Act1 NM this morning as well. None of the SUs(except Andariel) dropped anything remotely useable. Andy`s two great items were a rare ring with 7%MF(the ring is much worse than my +46 mana one, but I love MF so I swapped them) and the Gauntlets from Sigon`s set. This means I can equip the boots and gauntlets and get a 50%MF bonus. Nice.

The non-SUs dropped a 4os Dimensional Blade, that I keep in my stash to maybe make a spirit. And I got a nice druid pelt with +2 Hurricane and +3 cyclone armor, that I actually sold. I think the personalisation reward will be busy enough as it is. A spirit sword is first priority, since it will be pretty hard to get +skills from the weapon otherwise under the tournament restrictions.

Other than that, Jack had his first real NDE today. Mostly because I was stupid and decided to fight Treehead Woodfist while Jack was cursed by another Boss Pack. Woodfist spawned with Stone Skin, so the Tornadoes didn`t kill him before he got to Jack. 650 HP became 120 in no time. Luckily Woodfist missed with his second blow or Jack would have been gone.

Andariel obviously couldn`t stand up to the mighty lvl1 Oak Sage. It`s funny to watch the gigantic beast trying to kill that thing:)

Re: Tournament: The emperor's clothes

Well I keep reading these updates through my e-mail alerts and thought I'd dust off FishyQuetz who has been parked in A2 Canyon for as long as I can remember.

If I started off the sentence with something like "I remember her being stronger than she was..." you'd know something was wrong. She just arrived at the door to a false tomb and was mobbed by a bosspack of beetles who lightning'd her to death. It was probably less than ten minutes from main menu to deeds.

Oh well, I will definitely retire from this tournament now. No one needs a fifth set of deeds in their first tournament. Plus college is starting again soon, and I want to start MFing properly.

Thanks to all for support, Merlin for hosting his idea, and good luck!
