If you have no qualms with HF running, that is by far the fastest option. IMO,

Countess is best for runes El - Dol
Hellforge Rushing for runes Hel - ~Ohm/(perhaps)Lo
LK for runes Sur - Ber/Jah

Vex + Gul + Pul/Mal/Um could probably be attained in about 3-4 Hellforge rushes (maybe 4-6 hours in all).... that kind of speed is unmatched anywhere else.

OT : Also, I live just outside San Francisco in a little town called Pleasanton. HELLO Cygnus! :D
Redwood City, myself :wave: I consider going to older versions too cheesy, not to mention HF rushing being boooring. LK/AS it is then.

First post here in close to 2 years, hello again. :)

Just a quick question so not bothering with a reintro thread, thought here is the right place to post...

Recently finished NM with untwinked meteorb and starting to run NM Meph for items before Hell, only problem being my MF% is awful. Have some P.Topaz but no 4 socket armour to put it in. My question is where should I look for 4 socketed armours? (Gothic plates, ancient armours and the like.) Don't have the runes to try the socketing recipe over and over, so going to have to loot.

If it helps I just hit lvl 70 and have 105 strength or thereabouts.

Get Larzuk to punch holes in something white, if it can get 4os it will at Larzuk

If you are SC RRM/RWM I'm sure the SPTF can help you

Cows probably, or somewhere with lots of monsters (jungle?)

Armours over ilevel 40 can get 4os. Try the Pits with zero MF.

Thanks for suggestions, I shall try areas with a lot of monsters, hopefully something suitable will drop. All else fails I shall use one of my Larzuks.

Currently trying to be 100% self found, so the SPTF is out of the question under my current playstyle.

Another question while I'm here. Found Woestave for my merc yesterday, think thats worth upping?

Woestave is a great Weapon for your merc, esp. against Bosses - Open wounds, slows target (capped at 50% per item - so Kelpie isn't better in this), Hit Blinds target, Freezes target... If you have the spare runes, you can upgrade it once - here's what a perfect Woestave would look like compared to a "normal" one:

Note, that upping it twice would result in very steep stat requirements: 179 Strength and 99 Dex...but unless your rich on Lum and Puls, I wouldn't recommend that :rolleyes:

Oh, and if it's ethereal - it's definitely worth it. Kelpie is better damage-wise though...so it's up to you what you rather use. But I used the above posted Woestave on my untwinked Hammerdin and it definitely worked.

I shall rummage in my rune stash and upgrade it later, thank you for helping me decide. Meph hasn't been kind enough to drop Kelpie yet for comparison testing, hopefully once I get some MF going.

Speaking of MF, Larzuk provided me with a shop bought 4 socket armour, Jeweler's Full Plate Mail so that problem is solved. Just need one more P.Topaz and I'll have the 7 I need, 4 in armour, 3 in crown. Shall make a Rhyme Gothic shield also to have on switch for the kill.

If I install RWM and RRM, can I use my old characters in it? I've got a blaze-charged bolt sorc who's just dying to use a spirit shield.

AFAIK, it's just +All Skills, +Barbarian Skills, +Bash, and +Stun. I'm not sure if the A5 mercs use Masteries.

I actually have a question as well. Is this Boneweave any use for a Stone?

As far as I can tell, if I get the highest possible roll (unlikely I know), I would get 3685 defence. Is this useful? I have seen Stones with around 4.5k defence, but they were Sacred Armours, not Boneweaves.

@ Skinhead,

I thought that stone armours were generally made in E-bug armours as they have more defense then just a normal ethreal armour thus giving those crazy high defense numbers. Not 100% sure if thats Ebugged or not, because the def seems pretty high for a stone. Still 3k is not nearly as tasty as 4.5k or nearly 5k as one of the new posts in the IFT :).

How many boss/champion packs can spawn in AT at once? I've just encountered 7 bosses and usually there's 4-5 packs.

Anyone? Anything? Also one more question about AT (or area85's generally)

The Golden Chest. There's one in Pits lvl2, but there is also in AT somewhere (depending on a map). Is there any logic what the chest contains? I've gotten very weird drops like Green Grim Wand, cracked items, blue items and runes/gems/gold in a one drop. Are the drops completely random?

I've got a technical question about item generation. Once the game determines what item will drop, does each item have the same probability of being a unique, or set for that matter, or is there some sort of weighting?

IIRC, it checks first whether to give a Unique item --> Set item --> Rare --> Magical --> Normal.

But I'm a bit faulty at the technical aspect of the game, so maybe someone can confirm or refute what I just said.


EDIT:

Ok, found it in one of my D2 Info folders. Check this clicky of Hrus' Extensive MF Guide v1.10/1.11 under the Section: "6. Magic Quality Selection".
That guide is a mine-full of information about anything and everything MF related. :grin:

"So we can see that the chance for item is much better when the monster drops from low TCs, than if it drops items from his highest TC (which contains items around the same qlvl as monster level)"

I have a question about the Duress runeword.

Does it make the armor Indestructible?
Because I saw the picture of Duress on planetdiablo, on a Sacred Armor and it says Indestructible.

no indestructable there, either haxxed or photoshopped

afaik no runeword makes a armour indestructable (prudence has self repair though)
